Amelishan Bridal

I recently went with my daugher to Amelishan to try on wedding dresses. We had an early appointment on a weekday. It was not busy, and our appointment was started immediately and lasted two hours. Joan, the person who handled the appointment, was very accommodating, helping my daugher put on many dresses and accessorizing them. After narrowing it down to two dresses, she was not pushy and told us to take some time to think about it. We left, but came back about three hours later after my daughter decided she wanted her maid of honor to see the two dresses. Although the person who helped us was busy with another appointment, and the stroe was busy at that time, they were very accommodating. Someone else pulled the two dresses, got us a fittng room, and helped my daugher into the two dresses. My daughter made a decision at that time and ordered her dress. I will update this when the dress comes in as I see many comments about dresses being ordered in the wrong size. Although my daughter's dress was ordered in 2 sizes larger than her normal size, I have read this is normal for wedding dresses, and the person explained the sizing and showed us the information used to pick the correct size. more

I was looking for a specific dress so I started calling different bridal shops all over Wisconsin. I found Amelishan Bridal's website and I was really impressed when they claimed to have over 100 plus size bridal gowns to try on. Amanda answered the phone and checked for the dress in their inventory and then online to see what it looked like. While they did not have the exact dress, she remembered a dress they have that is almost identical. Of the 13 bridal shops I called, Amanda was the only person who took the time to look online at the dress I was interested in. She knew her inventory so well and was so nice that I made an appointment.\r \r They are not exaggerating about having more than 100 plus size bridal gowns. I was amazed at the assortment that ranged from size 16 to size 30. I worked with Michelle and she was so much fun. We had a great 2 hour appointment and I found the perfect dress and accessories. Amanda and Michelle made it the atmosphere so relaxed and comfortable that I felt like I had known them for years. I will be getting my bridesmaids and my mom's dress there.\r \r Every bride deserves the experience I had at Amelishan. Check them out. They are truly amazing! more

I HIGHLY recommend Amelishan Bridal for your special day. I had Jane as a consultant and she was beyond excellent. She not only was very patient and helped me try every dress on, but she also gave me her input on which styles would fit me best. She also offered me advice on another consultant who does photography there and said she would have booked her for her own daughter's wedding, but the lady was already booked. She was more than accommodating and just made my day so special. She helped me to pick out a more gorgeous dress than I could have ever imagined. I gave her a hug at the end of my visit to show my appreciation. more

Where do I even start? First, I was measured incorrectly and the seamstress even told me so; this caused much more work for alterations but she was so nice and recognized the problem was the staff's fault (I sure hadn't measured myself! And my measurements were WAY off - clearly I had not just changed sizes in one month) so she didn't charge me extra for the work. When I complained later to the owner, she said that was impossible and I must have dieted because apparently that's what all brides do in excess before their weddings (I haven't changed weight by a single pound in over 10 years so clearly that was not the case). Also, all my bridesmaids were measured and told to purchase dresses much larger than what they knew they should be getting. My new sister in law even protested why she would need to order a 12 when in real dress sizes she is never larger than a 4. She was told that they would not order it for her if she didn't go with the 12. When the dresses came in, her dress was so large that when she put in on and let go with her hands it fell straight to the floor. When I complained about this later on I again was told that was impossible. The men ordered their tuxes from this awful place also. My dad's vest was the wrong size and I stopped in to make a change. The woman told me she would order the correct size and it would be ready the next day (day of the rehearsal). My then fiance went to pick it up before the rehearsal and was told it was never ordered and I must be mistaken. He put the owner on the phone and luckily I was able to remember exactly who I spoke with, what she was wearing, etc, which proved I was there the evening before. Only after proving myself did she say she would make sure to have the vest the next morning. I was not happy with this plan as the store is the opposite direction of where our wedding was held and we had no time to go pick it up. We made it happen anyways though because we had to. I could not believe how rude the owner was when I complained after my wedding. She made everything seem like MY fault even though I was the paying customer and they should be doing everything they can to make my day and my experience with them special. I have told so many people to NEVER go to that store. Any bridal shop that makes a bride cry before and after her wedding should be closed down!!!! more

I was ""powershopping"" for a mother of the groom dress two weeks before the wedding... I had an hour with Pat on a Friday night, and she was amazing at helping me find at least a half dozen dresses to try on. She gave such excellent feedback on each one, and went out of her way to locate needed sizes, styles, and colors. I narrowed it to 3, and came back with my sister for another opinion on Sat. afternoon. Pat had my dresses ready in a dressing room for me, and was again very helpful and encouraging. I bought a dress I love at a reasonable price, and was given a cloth dress bag and canvass gift bag by the very friendly cashier. A beautiful, welcoming shop with many choices... the best of the dozen shops I've been to in shopping for multiple weddings this year!! Wish I'd found it sooner :-)) more

I was extremely pleased with the excellent service at Amelishan???s Bridal. I didn???t call to make an appointment until the day we were going dress shopping. While it was late notice on my part, the staff at Amelishan???s were very accommodating and fit us in that afternoon with Jane, one of the consultants. Our group arrived early to look around and within minutes, Jane was able to meet with us ??? well before our appointment. Jane gave us her undivided attention until store-close, constantly offering suggestions based on my style preferences and limited budget. She spent much more time with us than the 1 ?? hours our appointment indicated, and did so without make us feel rushed or bothersome. She truly catered to us and was so kind. I chose Amelishan because of the positive store reviews on the internet and was not disappointed. Shopping for a wedding dress is often a once in a lifetime experience, and Jane at Amilishan???s really made this task effortless and enjoyable and made the day feel special. more

I absolutely loved my experience at Amelishan! I worked with Pat, and she was amazing. So helpful and professional! I felt like I had her full attention the entire time and was never rushed. She helped me to find the perfect dress! I also found my veil, shoes, purse, and jewelry there. I also met one of the owners, who was incredibly helpful in talking to me about alterations. I went to several other bridal shops in the Brookfield area, and none of them even came close to the kind of service that I received at Amelishan. I highly recommend them. more

Ripe off big time...I went into Amelishan to find bridesmaids dresses and was told becouse my wedding was in Aug that my girl were going to be charged an extra 50.00 for them to get here on time.Thank god we went else where. We found the same dresses for 25.00 cheeper and wait ...the dresses where going to be shipped at the end of may.Shame on you Amelishan!!! Three of the 6 girls I have are not married and will not come back to be ripped off. more

Visit Amelishan only if you want to be ignored. My second trip to Amelishan was a disaster. I had tried wedding dresses on with them before and came back to try one dress on again. I told them which dress I was looking for when I made my appointment and I assumed they would pull the dress for me -- WRONG! more

Amelishan is a terriblely overpriced store with rude and unhelpful staff. I was part of a bridal party for a friend of mine and was thinking about buying my dress through Amelishan. I called them up for ideas on sizes, gave them my measurements and they told me I was somewhere between a 0 and a 10, uh...thanks?? On top of that they put me on hold several times for what should have been a quick phone call. I went online and found a size guide that was much more helpful. After finding my size, I called back and gave them my credit card number for the deposit, even though the order wouldn't be placed for another month to wait for the other bridesmaids. I called back the next day to cancel my order (since the dress was much cheaper at a local dress shop that gave me better service and I live on the West coast). The person on the phone told me they'd cancel it but the deposit wasn't refunded a week later. When I called back they gave me to a manager that said it was against their policy to return deposits. Long story short, I got the money back from my credit card company, but it took nearly two months of letters and phone calls to Amelishan (who were very rude, especially Shannon, and said I should have known that was their policy- though they had not ordered anything for me and never did). In the end, I got the dress for half the price they were charging and was much happier supporting this other business. If I could I'd give them 0 stars. more

If I could give a lower rating I probably would. Though the girl, Amanda, I had was wonderful I am so disappointed. I was told to order the dress i wanted in a size bigger then the sample i tired on, so I did. Well my dress came in and it is RIDICULOUSLY small. No way I could have worn it, and it would have needed TONS of alterations. I literally cried the whole way home. I was told that even tho I am larger busted it would definately support me, and the boning is so flimsy that I dont think it could even support someone with a C cup. I would definately steer away If i were you. more

Both of our daugheters-in-law purchased their dresses at Amelishan with a good, positive experience. So, the groom felt that the service for tuxedo rental would be just as good. Not so. After picking up tuxes, our son's shirt didn't fit and shoes were one size too big, wrong style and a Wide. These were returned the next day when we were busy getting to leave town for the wedding. The day of the wedding I got a call saying that one of the man's hems was down and all of the vests had threads hanging off of them. These were snipped, hem was pinned up. The men wearing the tuxes felt that they didn't fit well over all. When the tuxes were returned and problems explained, the man accepting the tuxes at Amelishan did nothing. This was a very disappointing experience for 164.95 a pop. Terrible customer service! more

My daughter purchased a dress from Amelishan and waited the usual amount of time for it to come in. When it came in, the organza in the back of the dress was all bunched up on my daughters hip. It looked terrible, the staff assured us that it was no problem, it would all be taken care of when she came in for her alterations. Four months before the wedding was the alterations appt., when we mentioned the problem to the alteration lady, she said ""there's nothing I can do about that , that's how the dress was made, besides when your going down the isle, everyone will be looking at your face, not the dress"" WHAT!!!!!! That's the first thing everyone looks at. She could see I was upset and to humor me she popped off one of the buttons and says ""now, what do you want me to do."" I'm not a confrontational person, upset and unsure what to do, we left the store after the fitting. My daughter and I talked about it and decided to make an appt. with Stone Manor Bridal in Cedarburg. They were wonderfully accommadating. We were able to purchase a beautiful dress in time for the wedding. After this purchase, we went back to Amelishan and picked up the dress. We are now stuck with a horrible dress that I would never sell to another bride, not to mention, we're out the $100 alteration deposit. Amelishan should of sent that dress back for repair or replacement when it came in. I know they would of charged us to fix that dress. They made their money, they don't care. Live and Learn...... more

I would not recommend this store to my worse enemy. Not only did they provide horrible customer service, they wanted to charge $50 just to look at your dress for alterations. When we received the dresses after they were ordered, they were all too big, off course, because they wanted the alterations and the extra cash. The dresses fit perfectly when we originally had them on and ordered them. Upon pick up, the dresses all required alterations. Cons: HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, HORRIBLE ALTERATIONS more

I recently was on the hunt for a bridal gown - considering my wedding is in less than 6 months - I needed a dress quickly. I went to many Milwaukee area bridal stores and was dissatisfied with the over-priced, limited selections. The minute I walked in Amelishan, a sales associate greeted me with a warm smile and was interested in helping find my dream dress. She allowed me to pick over a dozen dresses to try on. There was such a selection! This process was time consuming, and there was absolutely no complaining, negative body language, etc. by any of the sales associates. Once I found my dress, I was offered a variety of veils and accessories to go with my dress. I could not get over how incredibly affordable everything was! Amelishan was so wonderful and accommodating... my bridesmaids, groomsmen, and mothers' all got their attire there as well! Pros: affordable prices, great selection, excellent service more

I went to this bridal salon on a recommendation from a friend. However, the service here was very poor. They cut the tags off the bridal gowns so you can't see the designer and they do not allow you to take pictures. This is America and brides should be able to shop around. The whole time I was there I felt like I was getting ripped off. Maybe I just got stuck with a poor sales person but the overall feel of the store was cold and unwelcoming. When I went in for a second time to re-try on certain dresses, it took 30 minutes to even get the dresses in the room and even then they weren't right. Do not recommend this store! I used to buy into the hype, until a relative received awful customer service. She was measured incorrectly for her dress, and the establishment blamed it on her weight gain. Several other professionals have informed us that the bride-to-be would have had to gained 40 lbs for this to be true. We have tried to resolve the problem, but have only received ""snarky"" comments from the owners, and a very unprofessional letter that is full of lies. I went all over the place to find a wedding dress and I found a few that I liked. Then,my last stop of course,I went to Amelishan Bridal and I found the dress that I loved and needed to have!!! It was the dress that I dreamed of since I was a little girl. Well,I was running a little late on getting my dress so I was told it may not come in for alterations if even in time for the wedding. Then,the woman who was helping me,Jennifer,said she would talk to the owner and see what they could do. Well,they got it for me with plenty of time to spare. I know that if I didn't have this dress my special day wouldn't have been that special. All girls know that the dress is really the most important thing on their wedding day(I guess the groom is pretty important too,lol). So,thank you Amelishan for the great service and for having my beautiful dress in your shop. I have told many people about you and I will always keep your name in mind when I talk to a future brides. I bought my prom dress from this store last year. They told me as I was buying the dress that they would not sell the same dress to a girl at my school, they even made me sign a document saying they would not do so. It turned out that they sold the EXACT same dress same color and everything to one of my best friends in my prom group. Now you can imagine how we both felt. Terrible. Then, we called and they claimed they never said a such thing. The woman was snotty and unfriendly. They commited false advertising and I would definitly never reccomend going here to shop for a dress. Cons: terrible service more

I am the fourth woman in my group of friends who purchased their wedding dress from this bridal store. Fabulous customer service. The girl who helped me was very knowledgeable on the fabrics and styles of all the dresses. This place has a HUGE selection of just beautiful, up-to-date styles that range from low to high as far as cost. i really like that there are huge mirrors and a ""pedestal"" to stand on when trying dresses. more
