Awful Experience 3/6/2008

I can't review the food at this restaurant because I was never served. My girlfriend and I were seated and waited patiently for nearly 45 minutes. I tried to grab the attention of the wait staff, but was blatantly ignored. I left the restaurant with my girlfriend, disappointed and hungry. I would also like to point out that the wait staff had plenty of time clear tables and refill water while we were being ignored. The hostess didn't even acknowledge that we were leaving. We came and left and no one noticed a thing. It wasn't until I called frustrated that anyone had a clue. This is hands down the most terrible service I've ever seen. Someone from the restaurant must have written the good reviews on this page. Pros: Completely Awful Cons: The Worst Service EVER (Non-existant) more

THE AMBASSADOR OF INDIA 1/15/2008

AS AN AVID FAN OF INDIAN FOOD, I'VE GOT TO SAY THAT THE AMBASSADOR OF INDIA IS BY FAR THE BEST INDIAN FOOD I HAVE EATEN. I HAVE LIVED AND WORKED IN LOS ANGELES AND NEW YORK CITY AND HAVE EATEN INDIAN FOOD IN BOTH PLACES, AND I CAN CLEARLY SAY THAT THE AMBASSADOR IS AS GOOD OR BETTER THEN BOTH CITIES. ON MY RECENT VISIT TO THE NEW AMBASSADOR IN HARTFORD, I WAS PLEASED TO SEE THAT THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HARTFORD AND GLASTONBURY WAS THE LIVELYNESS OF THE PLACE. THE FOOD STANDARDS WERE NOT CHANGED AY ALL. MY CURRIED VINDALOO WAS SPOT ON, THE MURG PASANDA WAS MELT IN YOUR MOUTH TENDER, AND FLAVORED WITH THE PROMISED CASHEW NUT CREAMYNESS.WE ORDERED THE BREAD BASKET AND THE POORIES.(THE LATTER CAN SOMETIMES BE A LITTLE OILY BUT NOT HERE THEY WERE PERFECT) THE DAL TADKA ARE MY FAVORITE TYPE OF LENTILS AND THEY WERE SPICED JUST RIGHT. PLENTY OF THE MOST FLAVORFUL BASMATI RICE WAS AVAILABLE. TO START WE HAD THE SAMOSAS BUT WE ASKED IF THEY WOULD MAKE THEM PAPRI CHAT AND WITHOUT HESITATION THERE THEY WERE.JUST LIKE THE ONES I REMEMBERED HAVING IN TORONTO. I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE, AND MY WIFE AND I EAT THERE AND IN GLASTONBURY, AT LEAST 2 TIMES A WEEK. AND OH BY THE WAY THEY ARE KID FRIENDLY AT THE RESTAURANT TOO. ASK FOR DINO IN GLASTONBURY HE IS THE BEST WAITER IN "ANY " RESTAURANT. Pros: THE FOOD SERVICE AND THE STAFF ARE PERFECT Cons: THAT I CAN'T EAT THERE EVERYDAY more

One of the best Indian Ive eaten at in New England. 1/15/2008

I highly recommend Ambassador of India, for having been there myself quite regularly. What sets it apart from the other Indian restaurants I've eaten at in the New England area are the distinct taste, cleanliness and customer service. The Kerela Pepper Chicken, Lamb Curry, Smoked Salmon, Hara Bhara Kebab at Ambassador are my personal favourites and one of the best Ive eaten on the East coast. The buffet was also excellent , with a good and balanced variety of non vegetarian and vegetarian items. The pakodas and the tandoori chicken was excellent. Oh yes and my Mom whos a vegetarian is a great fan of their Daal Tadkaa and Gaajar Halwaa The service was very good too and the ambience is just perfect!! The prices are reasonable and worth every cent for having treated my taste buds lavishly!! Most importantly every time I have been there, the owner himself is present personally and that adds a personal touch to the environment. We were greeted at our table and asked how the food was. Our feedback as well as suggestions were appreciated and implemented..now this is something I have not seen often in Indian restaurants here. Over all I Iike Ambassador because the taste is authentically Indian (and not a hack) and its as good as eating in India!! I give this one a 10 on 10 for not only serving great food but for doing so consistently for many years now!! Pros: Authentic India taste, Service, Cleanliness more

True Ambassador of India 1/15/2008

I have lost the count the number of times I have been to Ambassador of India and I cant stop raving about it. Its by far the best restaurant and both in terms of food and service. And its not only coz I have become a regular customer there but all my friends whom I have recommended the place have come out smiling. The service is quick and food is absolutely delicious without being oily, for me thats the best part of it. The ambience is cozy and very warm. I would highly recommend Ambassador of India to ppl who want to get a good flavor of Indian food. Even the simplest of entrees are served with so much flavor that it just makes it the best place to be. more

So so.... not good 7/27/2007

Worst indian food I had in years. Instead of fresh tomatoes looks like chef uses lot of tomato sauce which makes the food little bit sweet sour. Service was good ....no need for reservations as it is mostly empty but I would prefer a place with little bit better and fresh food. Pros: can't remember Cons: not fresh.... stale more

Worst Customer Service 6/30/2007

We faced worst customer service ever. Called in to find out timings about their buffet. They told they will be open till 2PM when we called in around 1PM. When we arrived at the Restaurant at 1:35 PM, they do not let us in. Wonder what kind of business they do. They do not know the decency to serve the customers. I would strongly recommend other people not to go there. I faced my worst customer service at this restaurant. Not customer friendly at all. I would have saved my energy and gas to drive there for 20 mins if i knew that they would not let in the customers half hour before the close time. I was really pixxed off for their treatment to me. Pros: None Cons: Worst customer service more

Best Indian Food in Central CT 11/15/2006

This is by far our favorite Indian restaurant in central Connecticut. On our last visit we ordered the chicken tika marsala and requested Indian hot. It was!! We also shared an order of baingan bharta which was pretty blah and not recommendable. Service, as always, was excellent as was the garlic naan. Pros: excellent cuisine, good service more

I have thrown my grad party at this place, the food was really good, hospitality was great. A little bit too pricey, not the kind of place you you should be going often. Overall, you get what you pay for, I recommend anyone with some disposable pocket hand change to check it out Pros: Parking, great food Cons: price more
