My kids and dog loved the Ambassador hotel 5/4/2011

We decided to take the kids to see their grandmother in Amarillo. We've seen this hotel on previous trips but never stayed and decided to stay this time. The kids wanted to bring the new addition to the family, Bugsy, who is a little pug. Figured why not. The Ambassador came up in one of my many searches as a very pet friendly hotel so we gave it a shot. Upon arrival the front desk agents were very nice and welcoming, fawning over our puppy - I knew immediately we were in a good place. As honestly was stressing me out a bit as I've never traveled with a dog before. There are plenty of places to walk the dog and no you don't have to get in your car and drive to them. The Ambassador has a great pool, plenty big to satisfy the kid and adult pool goer. Everything is nicely kept and the people were very nice. I wish I would have gotten some of the names of the people we encountered as I would put them in this review! Breakfast was great, very hearty and everything you would need and then some. Thank you Ambassador for making our stay in Amarillo really nice. more

Another great stay at the Ambassador-Amarillo 2/8/2011

Last year we chose to stay at Ambassador Hotel while passing through on our way to skiing in New Mexico. Of course, for this year's annual trek, we returned to the best Amarillo hotel. They are offering these awesome ski rates. You do have to call the hotel directly, but it is well worth it. Our family was able to get a rate under $90. My wallet loved that. Even better, the hotel now offers a complimentary hot breakfast buffet, so nice when you have hungry teenagers. more

This Amarillo Hotel is affordable and works for a single Dad 10/6/2010

I?m a Dad on my own with two kids. We live near Amarillo, and this is our third trip to the Ambassador Hotel. It is just right for us! This trip was especially nice for me because the hotel was offering a very affordable ?back to school? package. What a great way to end our summer. more

Rated #1 in my book for a reason! 7/30/2010

No complaints at all about the Ambassador Hotel in Amarillo, Texas!!! We stayed with 2 small children, my wife and my elderly parents. Everyone enjoyed the comfort of the rooms, the indoor pool and the incredible breakfast buffet (which was better than most we have experienced at other ""chain"" hotels). Even better was the ""staycation"" package that we booked. It included two children's meal at the TGI Friday that is connected to the hotel. Pros: great pool and breakfast buffet Cons: not a thing more

The Ambassador Hotel is true southern hospitality 5/20/2010

We?ve had enough of this staycation stuff, we just had to pack up and get out of town. So my husband and I decided to take our two kids to Texas in our version of the Griswald?s Family Vacation. One of our stops was at the lovely Ambassador Hotel located in Amarillo. We couldn?t have been happier with our stay. Being a little road tired we checked in and let the kids swim in their great indoor pool. We loved that the hotel had a TGI Friday?s, it was just right for this family of four. After dinner, the kids took another dip in the pool. The front desk staff took great care of us, and offered suggestions for area activities that our kiddos would enjoy. The breakfast buffet is outstanding and they have the best cooked-to-order pancakes! The rooms are very comfortable, exceptionally clean and the hotel is well maintained. The manager and all the staff obviously care about the hotel and the guests that occupy it. The Ambassador Hotel is truly southern hospitality at its finest ? and in little ?ole Amarillo. Who would have guessed! Pros: great pool, breakfast, and friendly staff Cons: can't think of a thing more

Best Bet in Amarillo 2/19/2010

We are a family with two children, ages 5 & 7 and have stayed at the Ambassador Hotel many times through the years.? In Amarillo, by far this is the best bet. ?During our stays the rooms have always been clean and nicely decorated.? Even before they remodeled a few years back the rooms were nice.? Beds are comfortable and it?s a great place to call home while in Amarillo. Pros: Pool Cons: None that I can think of more

Wonderful stay at a beautiful hotel 11/2/2009

Stayed at the Ambassador Hotel-Amarillo when I went to visit my daughter at college. She and two friends came and stayed with me, and all were pleased. Arrived about 10 pm on Friday night and was greeted very warmly by the staff. Knowing I would need a room large enough for four, I booked one of the suites that are located on their Concierge Level. Our suite was very spacious and well-appointed. The girls had a separate bedroom with double beds and we so enjoyed having a separate living area to hang out in. One evening we decided to stay in, watch movies, and order room service. It is my understanding that the TGI Friday?s at the hotel takes care of their room service orders. They did a great job and we were all full and happy. Pros: Great hotel with lots to offer Cons: Can't think of anything more

Ambassador Hotel-Amarillo is a good place, I enjoy it 8/3/2009

I stayed at the Ambassador Hotel twice in July, and many times in the past with my work. I think the furnishings in the rooms had a re-vamp recently, but I have not experienced most of the complaints listed in earlier reviews at this hotel. The rooms are large and well lit if you have outside windows. Some rooms overlook the indoor 5 story atrium containing the lobby, hotel restraunt and pool so those can be a little dim without room lights on. The beds are comfortable with good linens, and the desk/chairs/TV/AC are all of average to above average hotel quality. The bathrooms are small but clean and well stocked. I actually have had one instance of a slow tub drain here but I have also had that experience at many other hotels. The staff is friendly and helpful and the Fridays Restraunt attached to hotel has good food and a nice bar area. The workout room by the pool has pretty good cardio equipment. I don't know about the business center because the WIFI is excellent everywhere in the hotel so I use my laptop. I think there is a router on every floor, so sometimes you have to search out the best connection. I travel almost every week and stay in hotels of all stripes. This place is good, I enjoy it. more

Would stay at the Ambassador Hotel Amarillo again 4/1/2009

I recently stayed in Amarillo at Ambassador Hotel for a business trip, and had a very positive experience. The other hotels in Amarillo are just upscale ?motels?. I needed a real hotel with real hotel facilities and services. The rate was very affordable and the value for the money spent, excellent. Pros: great business hotel, nice staff more
