I have naturally very thick curly hair. And since I have moved to Chicago with it's hard water I have hated my curls. Then I met Becky. And I want to have her children now. Bec...

This place is HORRIBLE!!!!! Total RIP OFF!!!!!! 8/13/2007

I went there acouple of monthes ago to get a trim. I had the trim and 2 very tiny bottles of shampoo and conditioner.............$50!!! I was in shock when I got to the register. If I had thought of getting a price before I got it done I would not have wasted my money getting a simple trim. DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: Close to home Cons: EXPENSIVE!!!!!!! more

All I can say is WOW! 8/3/2007

About three months ago I was told by my daughter to go see Becky at the Frankfort location. My daughter found Becky on a website for naturally curly hair because she's been searching for years for someone that could cut curly hair and recommend ways to style it. She went and absolutely loved her hair and kept telling me I just had to go. I was really nervous because I've been with the same hairstylist for over 5 years. Becky actually sat with me and asked me questions about my lifestyle and how much work I was really willing to put into my hair. She was so friendly and really made me feel comfortable. Now, my hair is great and completely manageable. I don't have very curly hair like my daughter, but Becky showed me how to wear it wavy or style it straight. It's great to have options!!\r \r My last appointment with Becky was at the Tinley Park location because they remodeled and combined both salons. I saw the other reviews on this salon and got a little worried, the last thing I want is to be over-charged or feel like these girls are stuck up. It wasn't anything like that! Everyone was great. I even got to watch fashion shows while I had my color done! I highly recommend this salon. Pros: Friendly, upbeat atmoshphere with a lot of talented stylists Cons: Busy intersection and parking can be diffcult more

Amazing salon with great service! 5/21/2007

I have been going to this salon for several years. I see Brooke and she is just amazing. Every time I go she lets me know about new styles and asks me tons of questions about my hair to make sure that everything is perfect. The entire place is friendly. The front desk is very helpful. Everyone smiles and helps you with anything you need. Walking into a nice salon like this could be intimidating, but they make it very comfortable. Pros: Very nice salon, very friendly, up on all the new looks, great service Cons: parking is a little tight some times because it is by a Star Bucks more

VERY EXPENSIVE, THEY MAKE YOU WAIT EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. 12/11/2006

I too would not recommend this salon. My stylist is very good, but the prices are through the roof! I paid $153.00 for a ""trim"" and color. I cannot afford to pay that monthly and that was WITHOUT the tip!! I am now forced to dye my own hair, as it is much more cost effective. I don't know what kind of jobs these clients have, but obviously they're better paying than mine and I have a pretty decent job in downtown, Chicago. Pros: Stylist was very good. Cons: Too expensive. more

Warning!! Do not go here 11/23/2006

I was a regular customer at amato for over a year. I decided I wanted to do something a little different with my hair, but i did not want an expensive upkeep. I asked my hair dresser about highlights. She told me they were $5 dollars a piece, $2 for touchups. I thought that sounded like a great price. I decided to get few. The next time I came back for highlights, I noticed my bill was a great deal higher. I did not say anything to the cashier, as I did not want to embarrass myself. The next time I went back, I wasn't able to see my usual girl, so I had to make an appointment with a different one. She was very unfriendly. When it was time for me to check out, I was astounded by the bill. Finally, I was outraged enough to speak up. i asked the cashier for a print out of all the charges. She seemed a bit nervous and told me she could not give me one, but she could write it all down for me. She wrote me a list and several days later I spoke with a manager. I told him what the stylist had initially quoted me for the highligts. He told me she quoted the wrong price. He told me all highlights were $7 a piece, and there was no such thing as ""touchup"" highlights. He told me he would speak to the stylist and call me back. After that, I never heard from him and I was so frustrated, I decided it was not worth me calling him back anyway, because i will just never go there again. I know what my sylist told me. i specifically asked her questions because I wanted to avoid a situation like this and keep the cost as low as possible. My last bill was over $185, and that was without the tip. It kept getting higher everytime I went back and really went through the roof when I had to see a new stylist who wasn't even more qualified than my usual one. I will never go back there and warn everyone about it. I am also in a profession where work for tips, so I expect to have a friendly person take care of me, not one who does not even smile, then rips me off at the end. DASTARDLY!! Pros: Close proximity to my house Cons: misquoted overly priced services, rude, stuck up stylists who scam for extra add ons more

HORRIBLE 2/10/2006

I went there on a Saturday, and was one of two clients in the ENTIRE salon. I should have known then to just leave. As I walked in, the desk girl asked me if I wanted to book my next appointment. I said no. As I was getting shampooed, the girl kept talking to me about the products that I needed to buy. Another girl walked up to me and asked me if I wanted another service for that day. I said no. I went to the dressers chair, and was asked three more times to get an eyebrow waxing, a manicure, or a pedicure and I was only getting a BLOWDRY. I was in the chair for 20 minutes!!! I was embarrassed for these girls...it was pathetic. Then I paid $43 dollars...to have my hair blown dry. It was a RIP OFF. Do not go to this salon. Pros: Available Cons: EXPENSIVE, PUSHY more
