Amato Hair Design & Spa

I have naturally very thick curly hair. And since I have moved to Chicago with it's hard water I have hated my curls. Then I met Becky. And I want to have her children now. Becky not only gave me an absolutely adorable cut (think Carrie from Sex in the City meets 2011) she also took the time to show me how to blow dry, how to perfect my curl, and it only takes me 15 minutes to style my hair out of the shower (I timed myself). For a busy SAHM to a toddler, time is precious and Becky understood and met all my needs. Is it pricey? Yeah, but you get what you paid for... Did she push products? Not really, their product sells fund the salon, helping it be all that it can be. I needed to use different products more appropriate product and regime for my hair, Becky supplied this at my asking. I have lived across this Great Country, gone to salons from Savannah, GA to New York City and this salon has surpassed every other one I have ever been to. Absolutely amazing. Amato Salon is a great place to get so many needed services for your hair, face, makeup, skincare. Usually when I think of a salon, I just think hair. However, in going to Amato one day for my eyebrows, Nedaa was available to wait on me. She does such a fantastic job!!! I have been back to Amato so much since that day, its been almost a year since Nedaa has helped me not only with eyebrows, but knowledge on proper skincare, facial products to use, and more. Nedaa is extremely professional and helpful. Her knowledge is so impressive. I always feel comfortable with her. Her specialty facial is so relaxing and beneficial. I can't say enough good things about Nedaa at Amato. In addition, the staff checking me in and out are always so nice. The reminder phone calls are so helpful for my appointment. Stephanie, Amanda, and Brittany are always nice. I may not remember all the names of those who wait on me, but just want to say, I am always welcomed with a smile at Amato. If you are looking for a place where you feel serviced well and pampered, Amato is worth your Dollar!!!! Everyone there is very nice. I used to get my hair cut at any old salon and my eyebrows waxed at any nail place. Then I came to Amato and its amazing there! Neda is the hair removal specialist and i have never had my eyebrows done as good as she does them Sarah cuts my hair and she is the only hairdresser i have been to that actually only gives a ""trim"" and doesn't take off like 3 inches every time I get my haircut I love it!!!! Pros: Best hair cut and eyebrow wax I have ever received... Cons: Its a bit expensive for a college student, but so worth it more

This was the FIRST time going to Amato and the FIRST time writing a review...but they deserve it! \r \r From the first time stepping in those doors at Amato Hair Salon...I was greeted with a warm smile! Moments later Nedaa introduced herself and took time to sit with me and ask some questions about me and my skin. After speaking with her for a few minutes...I knew this facial was going to be something I never experienced before. It was clear to me that Nedaa enjoys what she does...this is not just a ""job"" for her...and that is so important as a paying customer!\r \r After my treatment, I realized that a facial should not just be a ""treat"" for yourself...you should take care of your skin every day! I had a microdembrasion done by Nedaa and she was very educational about the products and procedures. I have had two facials done in the past by different people but I was never told what was being placed on my face or what it was for. Nedaa made sure I was informed of all and even gave me some tips about cleaning my face. She has many years of experience and I trust her service in the future. It was worth my travel and I recommend her to anyone who is looking to get a facial at a reasonable price. more

I have been going to amato for about 3 years now. I've gotten my hair cut at numerous places, and facials. i always either get my hair but my either Renee, who is fantastic, or Danielle who is a magician with hair! Both of them take special care is discussing with you exactly what you want, especially when making a big change. Nedaa, the estihician there, is just amazing. I have her do both my eyebrows and my facials, and recently tried her hot stone massage. She really gives extra attention and cares about her clients. Pros: good atmosphere more

I have been going to amato for a couple of years. Whenever i go there i make sure i dont leave without making another appoitmenet with Nedaa, who does amazing facials and body waxes!. I was readin the Southtown Star paper, sunday on April 6th 2008, and happened to realize i saw Nedaa's name the esthetician that i go to and she was being interviewed for her job and they had really good reviews, i was very happy becasue i knew that obviously i was going to a person that knows what she does and loves it.She is always booked and busy and is good at everything with no pain wether it is waxing, from brazilian to eyebrow, even underarm and no pain once so ever!..Or what i love the most is the facials not only for my face but i get chemical peel done for my back which has improved alot from acne! And also for my face microdermabrasion! and hot stone massages they are so soothing and relaxing, and ive noticed a big diference in my skin and my face, and not only is it from the facials but staying updated with always using the products that i bought from her! I have been coming to amato for about a year now, to nedaa for facials and waxing, she will sit with you and explain what she is doing step by step and takes her time with you so she could get it perfect, i have seen wonderful results from the facials and products that i use.Nedaa is very easy to get along with and respectful.Also a very clean person and salon. Whenever i walk in and out i get greeted with the upper most respect the people are great and friendly and know what they are doing! I have been going to Vivian at Amato in Tinley for the past 6 years and I love my hair more each time I get it done. My stylist always has new ideas for me so I don't ever have the chance to get bored. I love how she takes the time to sit down and talk to me before she starts my hair. It makes me feel like she is really hearing me and not rushing me. We look at pictures and she gives me ideas. She even takes notes about what we are doing that day- I love it! She also goes to classes all the time so she has lots of ideas for me about the latest trends. My stylist and one of the other girls just went to New York and got this big Redken color certification from the Redken school so this just shows the level of knowledge these girls have. I love all the Reken products too. I am obsessed with this velvet gelatine I get there. It smells sooooo good and makes my hair style so much better when I blowdry. That's another great thing about the salon. All the girls take the time to actually teach you how to do the whole round brush thing. My hair looks almost as good when I do it as when she does now. I also have to say how friendly everyone is. Stephanie and Amanda at the front desk seem like old friends to me- always smiling and offering to get you magazines and french vanilla cappucino as soon as you sit down. The other girls are super friendly too and I love how these girls dress! They inspire me to look cute from head to toe! more

My wife has been coming to Amato for a couple years now and just loves it. Several months ago she made an appointment for me as well. I'll never go anywhere else now. This place is great! All the people are friendly and very helpful with styles, products and advice. Renee takes great pride in her work and always manages to suggest the perfect look for my wife. Even though my haircuts are not nearly as involved as my wife's, Renee always takes the time to make sure I'm happy with the finished cut. I would highly recommend this salon for anyone. I've been going to Amato for a couple years for pretty much everything, hair, color, nails, eyebrows... In my life I've gone to many many places to get my hair done and spent everything from $10 to $100 for a haircut, by far, Amato is the best. The service is outstanding, Stephanie at the front is a doll, she takes the time to know the customers and treats them like friends, its very refreshing in a world where customer service is so lacking. Renee has been my stylist since I've been going there and I can't say enough wonderful things about her. She takes the time to truly understand what I want to do (and suggests great techniques when I have no real idea what I want to do), She knows my personality enough to be able to suggest great cuts and colors and I'm always beyond impressed and happy at her talent and professionalism. I trust her wholeheartedly. Both Renee and the salon has been great at working around my crazy schedule and she has stayed later than her usual shift to take my appointments. Everywhere I go I get compliments on my color and cut. The salon itself is great, I also buy the products and I would highly recommend their makeup line, which I haven't seen anywhere else. The eyeshadows go on smooth (and again, Renee has helped me pick out colors that work with my complexion and I have never been disappointed). Amato is constantly doing things, like promotions and offering videos and tons of magazines for their guests. Customer service is obviously something they are truly concerned with and they have delivered for me each and ever time. For the reviewer that complained about the price, there's a haircuttery in the same strip mall, if you want to look like you've gotten a $5 haircut, go there. If you want awesome service, stylists that truly care about you and your happiness, the best products and a salon that goes above and beyond, $29 is not only a good price but truly affordable. i think amato is a very good salon to come to. i have been with becky for a long time and i am glad that i come to her because she always does the best job on my hair. i have never been really happy before with my hair until now.it has never looked the best than what it does now thanks to her. i am very happy going there. more

I started going to Amato about 5 years ago and that's when I met the best colorist and stylist ever! She is an absolute genius in color and that is the most important thing to me. Being a blonde, naturally straight, thin-haired person, she makes me look forward to having my hair done, which I normally dread! Becky makes it fun for me every visit, we constantly change up my cut, color and texture. If I ever have any concerns about anything, I know I can express it to her and Becky will come up with a solution. For years, I hated going to get my hair done. No one listened to me and I always left hating my hair. I'm so glad I found Becky AND Amato Hair Design! All the girls there are super friendly and it's a really up-beat salon. After reading that last review, I just had to write my own. I have been going to Amato for a few years and cannot say enough good about them. The things that the other reviewer complained about are exactly what drew me to, and keep me with Amato. They do ask many questions before they start anything. They make sure that they know exactly what I want, and they give me great suggestions for my hair. I have never gone to another salon where they were so thorough. They make me feel and look great every time I go! They are extremely clean. As for there being hair on the floor, it?s a hair salon. Occasionally there is probably going to be hair on someone?s foot. Also, the last reviewer made fun of the way the girls? there dress. I think they look great, and another part of why I go is to get the latest fashion trends from them. To be honest, the last review really sounded more like someone with an axe to grind, rather than a real review. I love them and will go back for life. Keep up the great job! I went to amato awhile back...and then stopped going.I decided to go back because my friend got a $25 card, so we went together.when i walked in the girl upfront said she would tell my stylist i was here, well she never did that.i sat there for about 15minutes,and in that time i noticed how unfriendly people were to me.I will admit,i was not dressed to the 9's,but im the one getting my hair done, not working there!A girl that was checking out walked upfront to pay and dragged hair on her shoes.When her stylists was done sayin bye to her,she just walked on past the hair!!!! Yuck,that's gross.So,back to my visit.I was so annoyed with my stylist asking me ?'s and not actually understanding what I wanted that I only got a trim.I didn't want my color to end up someway that I didn't want it to. So,bottom line...I didn't appreciate the hair everywhere and how unfriendly some of the girls were.Just sitting in a chair listening, you notice alot.Send me all the money that you want amato, ""buying"" your way to guests doesn't always work. I hope everyone reads these reviews..good and bad. and they will see that the bad reviews are really true!! i have been going to amato hair design for many years now and i have seen their salon go through a huge transformation. It has gone from great to exceptional. This salon always treats me as a guest or a friend rather than just another client walking in. This salon is very accomidating to my busy schedule they always can find time to fit me in on my time and not push me into their schedule. i have seen many different sylist who can all achieve the look i want. i ha?e yet to walk out of this salon unsatisfied. i would highly recomend this salon to all of my family and friends. I can't believe how friendly and attentive everyone was during my appointment. I have been to other nice salons in the area, but at this one I felt at home. My stylist helped me choose a new cut and color by asking lots of questions before we began. I was nervous because last time I colored my hair , at another salon, it was a nightmare (not even close to what I wanted). When I left, I looked great and felt great. I am definitely going back. Keara Duchene is a fantastic, artistic, creative, talented hairstylist at Studio 110 Salon (110 East Delaware, Chicago, IL 60611). I can't say enough great things about her! She has been cutting and styling my hair for years, and even did all of the girls' hair (including my own) for my wedding last year. Keara's thorough and consistant education allows her to perform ANY hairstyle I'm looking for. Most importantly, she listens to what MY wants are (along with adding her opinion as well) to create the BEST hairstyle for my facial structure. Keara also recognizes when I'd like a change in style, and seems to always be on the same page I am... which makes her the BEST hairstylist I've ever had!!! As another incentive, she offers 50% off to all of her first-time guests, so TAKE ADVANTAGE!!! You won't regret it! :-) Pros: Everything and everyone is wonderful! Cons: Parking can be difficult, although the incredibly sweet front desk receptionists will guide you to the most convenient parking location. more

My friend Rebekah sent me to this salon for my birthday, and all I can say is I have never been treated so good or looked so great. Thank you to everyone at Amato Hair Salon. My husband loved the way I looked when I got home, and it was one of the best birthdays I ever had. I felt like a model for the night!
