I love a great italian restaurant, but it has literally been years since I have had such bad service in Portland. She sure looked busy, but my husband and I believe she was just ...

Coconut Mojitos To Die For 7/30/2010

I have to rave about this drink so that everyone understands its perfection. The coconut mojito at Amalfi's is the best one I have ever had, and I consider myself a coconut mojito aficionado. It is sweet but not too sweet, there is a large amount of fresh mint leaves (not a sparse amount like some places) and they even put shredded coconut on top. It was also pretty darn strong - I could only have one on a mostly empty stomach because it works its magic quickly, but it didn't taste that strong. Wow. I came here last night with some of my friends for happy hour. I wasn't hungry, but then everyone started ordering shrimp scampi and foccassia bread with marinara sauce, and...I had to try it. It was really good - they know how to use garlic in the scampi! Yum yum! A lot of their other drinks are named after funny movie quotes, which is a fun conversation starter...and they are reasonably priced. Next time it is hot, I am going to plant myself on the outdoor patio by the fire pit and order another coconut mojito...or maybe I'll branch out next time... :) Pros: happy hour, outside fire pit more

Great Dinning 6/25/2010

I took my fiance to Amalfi's back in 2006 because she loves Italian food. She loved it and we've been customers ever since! Now pasta is my fiances dish of choice but their pizza which is to die for by the way is my dish of choice! We've created our own pizza but their Webber Milano pizza is pretty amazing! Now it is a little pricey but totally worth it! Pros: Love the atmosphere, great service and exceptional food more

Wonderful Food and Atmosphere! 6/16/2010

I recently had my son's first birthday party in the upstairs banquet room, and it went great! Several family members had not been to Amalfie's before and raved about it afterwards. They loved the pizza, and commented on how nice the restaurant looked. The serving staff was very attentive and I didn't have to ask for a thing. We might just be back for every family event. :) Pros: Great neighborhood resturant more

Fabulous!!! 6/11/2010

Amalfi's has been a favorite of mine since I moved to the Portland area in 1999. Back then it was a cozy restaurant with great service and one of a kind pizza! Now it has transformed in to a beautiful up beat restaurant with a gorgeous outdoor seating area and a top of the line bar without losing the family-owned warmth. The new remodel has not only highlighted Amalfi's fantastic food and service but has created a new and wonderful place to meet for cocktails and nibble on an array of delicious happy hour treats. I crave my next trip back and recommend everyone join! Pros: Atmosphere, Delicious Cocktails & Great Pizza more

Best Happy Hour in town 6/4/2010

I discovered Amalfi's when I was in college. They were great back then and are even better now. They have completely remodeled the restuarant and it's so nice inside and out. One of my favoriate things to do there is sit around the fire pit tables outside and drink a Rasberry Martini. There food is amazing and portions are very generous, I love this place and would recommend it to anyone looking for yummy Italian food and tasty drinks. Pros: Cocktails and Italian food more

Great Food 6/3/2010

I have been eating at Amalfi's for over 10 years. Their pizza is fabulous and so are the pasta dishes and sandwiches. My husbands favorite is the Amalfi and says that you can't get a better Italian sandwich anywhere. There have one of the best happy hour menus in town an the service is friendly and fast. Pros: Food, happy hour Cons: parking more

Italian to die for!!! 5/30/2010

I've been lucky enough to have been to amalfi's on several occasions. I've tried most of the appetizers, many of the pizza's and a few of the pasta dishes. Everything I've had there has been delicious. The customer service is great, the drinks are amazing and the prices are very reasonable!! I'll definitely be visiting this restaurant again and again!!! Pros: Great happy hour, best pizza around, great service! more

GREAT ATMOSPHERE; AMAZING FOOD 5/28/2010

A friend had recommended this place since my fiance and I love trying new places. I was surprised to read the negative comments since our experience was wonderful!! Had great service, our waitress made a lot of great recommendations. We had yummy drinks, but most of all we had the best PIZZA!! The combo ROCKS! Pros: GREAT happy hour and drinks, fantastic service more

FANTASTIC restaurant and wonderful service! 5/28/2010

I have been going to Amalfi's for the past 10 years and it is truly the best Italian restaurant in the area. The happy hour is incredible and the food never disappoints. I have found the staff to always be extremely helpful and attentive, even during their busy peaks. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone! more

Great chicken parmigiano, terrible service 10/31/2009

I love a great italian restaurant, but it has literally been years since I have had such bad service in Portland. She sure looked busy, but my husband and I believe she was just hiding in the kitchen for 20 minutes at a time. Next time: To Go! Pros: chicken parmigiano, beverages Cons: table service more

first and last 8/15/2009

luke warm, tatseless, greasy food, inattentive staff and a manager named laura I think and her fake thanks for coming in, umm no thanks. Pros: decor Cons: many more

Great Food & Service!!! 5/26/2009

My family and I have been going to Amalfi's for years (since I was a little girl). I moved out of town about 10 years ago and recently moved back with my husband. I brought him in for the first time recently and it was the same great pizza and minestrone soup that I remember when I was younger. The Mediterranean Pizza is AMAZING (pesto, artichoke hearts, kalamata olives, feta cheese & tomatoes)....my husband likes to add chicken to his half. I noticed they're open for lunch so I brought in some of co-workers from the office and we left super, super full (nice portions) and very satisfied. I'm so proud of them for keeping the same great quality of food and friendly staff that my family and I have known to love for all these years. Way to go Amalfi's and Congratulations on your 50yrs in business!! Pros: Best Pizza in Town...hands down!! Cons: You might have to wait. Weekends are busy!! more

Best pizza in Portland 4/3/2009

My husband's family have been going to amalfies since he was the 60's. Thru all the changes, one thing has stayed the same, great pizza and friendly service more

what happened? 3/10/2009

What happened? I use to love this place. The food was always good and flavorful. Theeeeen they did this big remodel. The service is almost non-exsistant. If you sit in the bar just plan on not being served or acknowledged at all. The food has no flavor and they raised the price for less food, less flavor, and less service. This will go to the bottom of the list. I have given amaflis 4 chances and each chance they let me down more

We were ignored for 20 minutes!!! 2/20/2009

It was a pretty slow night and I had been craving Italian for about a week. Amalfis seemed highly rated and in my neighborhood so we stopped by for some pasta. We waited in the lobby for 10 minutes before the hostess came by and asked how many in our party, there were two of us and she told us it would be another minute or two, or we could sit in the bar. We opted for the bar thinking that the ratio of two bartender to 3 tables (now including us) would provide for decent service. Boy were we wrong! After sitting at a table for another 5 minutes one of the bartenders came out from behind the bar... to talk to the table behind us. Another 5 minutes passed before she came back and asked us what we wanted. Seeing as how we hadn't been given menus yet we didn't know, and she made it obvious that this annoyed her, and things didn't get better as the night went on. Pros: Pleanty of parking Cons: Service, food, prices more

Dont go there if you expect to see your boy elliott 2/19/2009

Where to begin Pros: atmosphere, pizza, happy hour, bleu cheese dressing, nice staff, fun drinks, always got the game on Cons: youll see, its a surprise.....SURPRISE!! more

wonderful surprise 12/30/2008

A friend recommended this restaurant to us, and we loved it. The people were very nice. The atmosphere was very cozy, perfect for a date. It was a little nosy, but that may have been because we went on a Saturday night and it was very busy. I will definitely go back many times. more

What a bummer ... 9/16/2008

I live in the neighborhood and have watched with interest the patio being remodeled. We decided to try it out on a perfect summer night, but it turned out to be not so perfect. We eat out 3-5 times a week in town, are open to trying new restaurants, but after tonight, are reminded why we go to our old favorites. The hostess handed us menus over the counter and told us to seat ourselves on the patio. No problem. Our first warning should have been the un-bussed tables next to us and empty drinks at other tables. But everyone seemed happy. After waiting for 15 minutes and not being greeted, or even seeing a server, we went back in and asked if we could sit in the bar instead. Bigger mistake. It took just as long for another server to acknowledge us. Granted, we did sit at a dirty table, and she seemed to think we just needed our check, which was understandable. We waited for 20 minutes for our ordered drink to be delivered and for her to take our order. When she finally stopped at our table, we asked about a menu item, she said I don't know, I'll have to send the other server over, and I said ""no!"", I want to place our order now, while we have you at the table. We heard her say to the man next to us, I'm going to go check on your pie, she came out of the kitchen carrying it, but he took one bite and walked out!! We're not sure why, if he was so irritated at waiting a long time, the lack of service, or if the pizza didn't taste good. Our food arrived in a timely manner, but we did have to send our pasta back. It did taste good, but it was barely warm. Our pizza had the perfect thickness of crust, but wasn't worth a repeat visit with so many restaurants to choose from in town. We overheard our server saying something to the bartender about us, but when she saw we were watching her, she stopped. Unfortunately we won't be back to this convenient neighborhood location. Pros: Remodeled Patio Cons: Lack of Service more

Sadly disappointed: greasy food, poor service. 7/29/2008

The good: great local, casual atmosphere. That was it. The ""homeade"" ministrone was mostly broth with a handful of pasta shells. The waitress forgot our salads, then delivered them following our meal with an indifferent attitude. My ""famous"" calzone was swimming in a pool of grease. When the waitress delivered our small bowls of ice cream (came with the meal), she had her thumb stuck over the dish edge, into the scoop of ice cream. She was obviously in a rush and seemed like she hated being there. I didn't point out her error with unsafe food handling. Next time, I'll drive across town to the nearest Olive Garden, instead. Pros: casual neighborhood atmosphere Cons: greasy food, poor service, unclean habits. more

the pizza was excellent, however 5/15/2008

the Stromboli was a total disappointment and not at all authentic. It resembled a meatball sandwich and not a very good one at that, there were possibly two small meatballs and one slice of cheese on a very large dry Italian roll. Pros: good pizza Cons: over priced more
