I have been going to Dawn for alterations for a couple of years. I like her no nonsense approach. She always does excellent work for me. I too am short and often need things taken up - sometimes even shirts are too long on my frame. She is very professional and always reliable. more

My daughter took a bridesmaid dress that was way too big to Alterations Connection. When she went to pick it up nothing had been done to belt, so she left it and askede to pick it up for her. I paid $125 and brought to her. When she checked it and tried it on she discovered only the bodice had been altered and all the excess skirt fabric had been gathered into huge bunches over each hip. Needless to say, not flattering. So she took it to the bride's seamstress who fortunately was able to alter it correctly just in time for the wedding. I disputed the charge with the credit card company, Alterations Connection fought it, didn't even offer to refund the amount we had to pay another seamstress to fix their work. So I just have up, they will get my money, but hopefully my review will save someone else from using Alterations Connection more

My wedding was saved! 5/2/2011

A couple of weeks ago, which was 24 hours before I was leaving for my destination wedding I decided to put on my wedding dress and practice my first dance. To my utter horror the bustle on my dress, that had been done professionally, was less than adequate for the weight of the dress. The ties were ripping out and I had not even worn the dress yet. The sides were dragging on the floor and there was no way I could dance on my wedding day in this dress. At 8am on Saturday morning I called Alterations Connection after finding them on a Google search and Dawn, the owner answered (before business hours). I explained I was leaving for Mexico for my destination wedding at 4am Sunday and that I needed the bustle redone that day. She told me to be there at 9am. more

horrid service and work 10/19/2010

Rude service, marginal to poor work, no tolerance for requests for improvement on a bad job. When I called in a FOURTH attempt to get a job done satisfactorily, Dawn said "Sorry" and hung up on me. She has no time or interest to listen to instructions or concerns with the job done. However, her front desk person (her son) will verbally abuse you for no extra charge. Check the BBB report. more

Great taylor 9/9/2009

I lost 105 lbs. and either had to buy a complete new wardrobe or have EVERYTHING taylored. I chose to use Dawn, now she altered 35 pairs of pants, a 3/4 length leather jacket and a wool over coat. A very expensive leather sports coat, suits, shirts, the only thing she didn't alter of mine is my underwear. She did an incredible job and now everyone says I look great! THANK YOU DAWN!! Pros: incredable work Cons: I haven't found one yet more

Do not use this service. Dawn attempts to cut corners and do as little work as possible. She is a hack. Fine a quality alternations person. You will regret going here. She lied to me, too. Pros: None Cons: BAD SERVICE AND POOR QUALITY WORK more

Great Work 2/20/2009

I have to hem every single pants I buy because I am short. Dawn has done them all, and I have never had a problem with any work she has done. Work is always done on time, looks professional, and never comes apart. The signs in the shop are really funny. No, you won't get smothered in mushy customer service, but you will get great quality alterations on your clothes - and know it won't be ruined. Pros: Reliable quality on alterations Cons: None more

Simply the Best 2/17/2009

Simply put, Alterations Connection is the best tailor shop in Reno. I've been to all of them and have never had the service, concern and quality workmanship that they offer. I've taken in business clothes and even by daughters wedding gown.....and Dawn works wonders and knows the fine art of fitting. In my daughters case, they only had three days to prepare the gown and they did it in two.....and it had five layers and a six foot train! If you want to look good in your clothes, this is the place to go. Pros: Quality service and concern at the highest level Cons: None more

Avoid like the plague. 7/16/2008

Rude, abrasive and downright mean. Mind you, this isn't some dispute with the business. We walked in the door and they were just rude even before hello until we left. Stay away. There are plenty of other places to go in Reno. Pros: Price was slightly better than another in town. Cons: Horrible, horrible, horrible customer service. Don't go here unless you want to inconvience the owners. more
