I had a bridesmaid dress that was absolutely huge and needed to be altered significantly. I went to Alterations by Sarah because I'd had a previous experience that was reasonably pleasant. It was definitely not so this time. The first fitting went fine, with the man assuring me it would fit by the time they were finished. He told me that I'd most likely need a second fitting, which was fine with me because I had taken it in with plenty of time until the wedding. The second fitting was OK; the dress was still a little big on top and very big in the hips, so the man chalked it again, and told me to come back the next week. I came back the next week, tried on the dress, and was pleased to find that the top fit perfectly, but was disappointed that the hips and sides had not been touched. The lady helping me told me that she wanted to take in the hips, I happily agreed, and she pinned them accordingly. Again, I was told to return the next Wednesday. When I came back for a fourth time, I was very disappointed that again, the hips and sides were not corrected. It appeared that one side had been slightly altered, but the other side hadn't been touched. So once again, I went home without a dress, and was told to come back the next day. I was unable to come in that day, so my mom offered to pick it up the next day, both of us assuming that it wouldn't require any more work, and if it did, we would just bring it back in. My mom asked Sarah that per chance it still didn't fit could we bring it back in. Sarah told her that yes, we could, but we'd be charged again for it, and then said that obviously I hadn't stated plainly what kind of work I wanted done on it. My mom had accompanied me on two of the visits and assured Sarah that I had made it very clear what needed to be done, and that each time it simply had not been done. If you have major alterations to be done at Sarah's, be sure to state plainly what you want done, so that you won't be blamed for miscommunication.
