\r I would recommend this hospital to anyone who wants great patient care and personal attention. The service is fast and the prices are reasonable. When we went there we expected to pay A LOT, since we had a lot of work done to my dog, but it was actually a great price and a lot lower that we thought. Very Professional & Knowledgeable 12/9/2010

I take my birds to Dr. Paul at Alta View Animal Hospital and he is excellent. The staff is very knowledgeable and caring as well. If you are looking for a great avian vet - this is the place. They are proactive, educational, and sell great bird food (Harrisons) and bird toys too at reasonable prices. They obviously love what they do and love teaching people about handling birds. more

Competent and Caring 11/9/2010

Wow another great experience at this hospital. I have been going to Alta View Animal Hospital for a long time. I thoroughly trust Dr. Paul and also genuinely like him. Because my cat is older and has been on long-term steroids for asthma, and had recently lost over a half a pound, Dr. Paul recommended doing some blood work to make sure my cat wasn't having kidney or diabetic issues. I said I wanted to go home and think about it, and he was very respectful and didn't pressure me into making a decision on the spot.\r \r Then two days later when my cat vomited up all of her breakfast, I was ready to find out what was going on. I made an appointment for later that afternoon. The next day, Dr. Paul called me with the test results that had come back so far, and we are waiting for rest to come in. \r \r Dr. Paul has taken the time to explain to me what the various issues are and options for dealing with them. Dr. Paul Ghumman has had years of experience with dogs & cats. Alta View Animal Hospital took care of all our pet's health needs for several years. They were always available when we needed an appointment. The staff is friendly to both us and our pet?s. more

Absolutely the best vet! 10/12/2010

Dr. Paul Ghumman has been the veterinarian for all three of my cats. He is very competent. For example, he was able to do an echocardiogram of my cat Meow, something that is usually performed only by a specialist. And he cares very much. I remember one Easter Sunday he came in to his clinic to help me with a pet emergency! Dr. Paul communicates important detail clearly. This is especially valuable because I can be quite stressed-out when any of my cats are not well. I have confidence that I'm making the right decision for my pet, in partnership with Dr. Paul. And when I recommend him to friends with pets, I tell them "He's the best." more

Great Vet ! 10/2/2010

I have been a client of Dr. Paul for five years. Dr. Paul and his staff provide outstanding service and excellent care of my dogs. My dogs have had surgery at the clinic and have recovered wonderfully. Dr. Paul always goes the extra mile to provide all the necessary care for the animals, such as, following up with us on results and making sure the dogs are all caught up on shots and regular care. Excellent treatment for my pet 9/24/2010

I went to Dr. Ghumman at Alta View because of a friend's recommendation. When I first took our cat to this vet, it was for a routine check up and shots. The doctor commented that she seemed to have lost weight recently. I am embarrassed to say I hadn't noticed, but my husband agreed with the doctor. He cautioned us to closely monitor her eating habits and let him know if she wasn't eating.\r \r A week later, we took her in because her condition had deteriorated; she was not eating or passing excrement. Dr. Ghumman told us she was very sick, and had lost 15% of her body weight from that of her previous visit. He sent blood for lab tests, kept her overnight, and gave her IV fluids. His staff hand fed her. She seemed to be improving somewhat. We saw the doctor again the next day, and got the results of the lab tests. Not good. Some liver problems indicated. \r \r He told us of our different options, from the least to most expensive. He left us time alone to decide the treatment plan we felt c more

worst experience ever 8/6/2010

-----BEWARE!!!!!----- the cost was excessive, our questions regarding treatment were vaguely answered. i was told one price on the phone which we paid in full by credit card over the phone - an hour later when we picked up our beloved pet the cost had gone up $1000.00. i asked for an itemized written explanation. they denied unless we paid in full first and said if we weren't going to pay right now they would keep the cat and KILL IT . i got our pet and got out while the doctor his son and members of his staff screamed obscenities at us all the way to the parking lot. i can hardly believe this actually ocurred i wish my cat could talk and tell what her level of care truly was. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM I GIVE IT O STARS more

Hmm...shady 12/29/2008

I'm used to seeing Dr. Cameron in Sunnyvale whose clinic I highly recommend and will continue using...\r \r ...however I wanted to get a rabies vaccination for my cat during the holiday (it's a long story but basically she needs to be travel worthy and there is a 6month wait period after she gets the vaccine.)\r \r Anyways, after seeing the InsiderPages score for Alta-View and noticing that their location is close to my house I decided to give them a try.\r \r 1) after check-in there was a 30minute wait in the front room before going to an exam room. The reception staff were courteous, but the wait seemed to be unjustified.\r \r 2) While waiting in an exam room, a few staff members poked their faces in the door without apologizing or even acknowledging they had made a mistake. I asked the technician who weighed the cat if "you are always this backed up..." He shrugged and smilingly said "yes."\r \r 3) finally after an additional 15minutes the doctor showed up. Horrific Experience! 9/25/2008

I had a 3pm appointment for my 6 week old puppy. I stood at the front counter for a good 8-9 minutes waiting for someone to come up to the front counter to assist me. 4 different employees walked by me and made eye contact with me so I know for a fact that they saw me standing there and not a single one even acknowledged my presence! It would have been nice to have had someone say something like "someone will be right with you" or "I will be with you in just a moment". But no, they just looked at me and then looked away and kept walking. It was me that had to say loudly "Excuse me, I have a 3 O'clock appointment, could you please come give me the paperwork that I need to get started on"\r \r Once i was finally given the paperwork to fill out, I had to wait another 45 minutes before I was taken into a room. 25 minutes into me waiting for the room, I asked the girl at the front counter how much longer it might be. She is horribly vague and refuses to give any form of a definitive answe more

This Place is Great!!! - our 3 furry kids (Gary, Suzy and Beau) Agree 9/9/2008

Dr. Paul and all of his staff are wonderful. We've taken all our pets there for over 8yrs. He has cared for our 3 cats and 1 dog. Our dog is quite particular (being that he's a poodle) but he absolutely loves Dr. Paul and his staff. Dr. Paul's voice is calming and he delivers optimal care to his furry patients. He's prices are reasonable. He does not believe in over-medicating, or ordering needless tests. He truly goes out of the way to provide great care and customer service. I have never found a DMV as kind and caring. I wholeheartedly and without reservations recommend Dr. Paul and Alta Vista Amimal Clinic. \r \r Kudos to Dr. Paul from Beau, Suzy and Gary more

Great Vet and Staff 7/13/2008

This is the BEST vet I've ever been to! Dr. Paul was great, actually the entire staff was fantastic! I called and was able to make an appointment for my puppy to get his shots the very next week. We went and the front desk assistant was really nice and didn't look at me weird when I couldn't remember the flea and tick meds he was on... (yeah I know bad momma). The check in was really fast and to get to a room took no time at all... for all you pet parents with overly active pets you know why this is important. My puppy must have loved the place from the start because he wasn't barking and jumping and going wild like he normally does in a vet's office. (Sometimes it's so bad I stand outside until a room is ready.) We went to the room and the vet tech asked me some questions and held an actual conversation with me. She was friendly and gave me some tips that are working for her and her new puppy... Anyhoo I spent about 5 minutes with her and then less than 3 minutes later the vet came i more

Great Treatment for my pet 4/22/2008

We took our pet dog Maya in for limping to Alta View Animal Hospital. The vet diagnosed the problem as a torn ligament in the knee. The sugery was performed by the surgeon at the hospital. The knee healed perfect. The follow up care was superb. I would recommend this hospital to anyone who wants great patient care and personal attention. They also have reasonable prices. more

Forewarned is forearmed 3/2/2008

I left Adobe Animal Hospital due to their excessive charges, but little did I know that I was going from the frying pan into the fire. My cat needed a tooth extracted, and both the vet and the techs tried to sell me all kinds of extra lab work and x-rays which I refused. When I went to pick up my cat the next day, the bill had jumped by $71. Their explanation was that they had made a mistake in the addition and that it was their "bad" and they refused to release my cat until I paid the extra $71. They also refused to let me talk to the vet. I have no idea if the vet is involved in these shady dealings, but I strongly suggest that you take your business elsewhere. I will never return to this clinic. more

My cat got sick under his care 2/11/2008

It has cost me over $1000 in vet bills from Adobe to try and get rid of the virous my cat picked up there when he went in for neutering. Not only did the vet deny that he caught the virus there, but refused to even give me antiboitics to try and deal with it without a charge. I landed up at Adobe where my cat almost died and was hospitalized for two days. HE DOES NOT KEEP A CLEAN HOSPITAL. HE PUTS SURGICAL ANIMALS IN WITH SICK ANIMALS AND DOES NOT CLEAN CAGES WHERE HE HAS HOUSED SICK ANIMALS. The ONLY way he got this virus was from his hospital, confirmed by other vets. more

Skilled and Caring Vet 7/21/2007

We've been taking our dogs to Paul Ghumman for the last 8 years. His diagnosis are spot on--even when the disease is rare. This was the case for one of our dogs. \r He genuinely cares about his furry patients. The prices are reasonable and he never tries to push unnecessary treatments. If the treatment is outside of the scope of his expertise, he quickly recommends specialists. The staff are friendly and the service prompt. more

Caring vet and excellent care 6/13/2007

We have taken our many pets to Alta View Animal Hospital for 4 years. Dr. Paul Ghumman and staff have always provided great care for our pets. When our dog Sasha had a serious kidney ailment, the doctor explained all the details and options for treatment available.Thanks to their care Sasha is healthy again. I would recommend the hospital to anyone who seeks compassionate, personal care for their pet. more

Compassionate experienced vet 6/5/2007

I have tremendous admiration for how this vet can run this busy practice single handed. I have been going to him for 15 years, and believe I have received a lot of good advice. He has always been willing to see my pets even on a Sunday which required a special trip. He is also always willing to discuss a pet's condition over the phone. Yes, you may have to wait beyond the appointment time, and yes, you may only get to see the vet for five minutes, but you will not find someone of his ability and compassionate easily elsewhere. more

Good service, caring vet 8/25/2006

I have taken my cat to the vet here several times, and have always thought the service was fine/normal and rates were normal. I recently adopted a ferrel cat, however. I wanted an idea of how much I was going to have to pay, so I called to describe the cat and his problems and actually got to talk to the vet. The price i was quoted was reasonable...I actually shopped around even though I had been here before. When I brought my ferrel kitty in, he needed a lot more work than expected. I could tell, however that all the work was needed. Nothing unnecessary was done. The vet was VERY caring, taking extra steps to make sure my cat was WELL taken care of. I've been to vets all my life, so I could tell he was going out of his way. I really appreciated his EXCELLENT service.
