Best

This place was just a random place we stopped into... and we found a gem. It was absolutely delicious. The staff (especially the waitress) were so nice. You know, like they act...

Worst

Hamburger tastes like a regular FAST Food hamburger. French Fries are dry and over cooked.

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/25/2013

We loved the burgers. My family just moved in behind al's and went in one night. Everything was great. I had the double cheeseburger my husband tried the pot roast and our kids had chicken tenders. All our food was wonderful and we can't wait to go again. more

Just go for the BLT sandwiches! The Best! 12/7/2011

As a visiting Californian, my wife and I, plus our 2 Arlington sons, always eat at ""Al's."" i went to high school with the original owner (now run by his son). We had enjoyed the BEST BLT sandwiches we have ever tasted, at this place, more than a dozen times. We don't know about the rest, but when you find something this good, you ""stick with it!"" more

Not Impressed 5/31/2011

My partner & I visit this establishment (using the term loosely) today for lunch 5-31-11. And both she & I were less than impressed. We were greeted & seated by a friendly gentleman & that is where the hospitality ended. This establishment is obviously a ""good ole boys"" type of place & does not extend the welcome mat to those who are just trying a new place. Our waitress (using the term loosely as well) did not introduce herself, and when we advised her that we needed a few more minutes to look over the menu, she did not return for about 10 minutes, the waitress was not friendly, there was also another gentleman (perhaps another dishwasher, I don't know) who walked the entire establishment speaking to everyone and making small talk, yet he NEVER made it to our table. This disgusted me. A group of 3 college-age guys walked in and were seated and the waitress introduced herself & even had the audacity to offer refills, which she never extended too our table & my sweet tea ran dry. I sucked on the ice, to quench my thirst. We recieved our food and it was medicore @ best. The burger had no flavor, The onion rings while they were not cold, I was under the impression the food was made to order & I think my onion rings sat a minute or two. Neither my partner nor myself were impressed with this establishment. While the no name waitress did ask how the food was, it was obvious, she did not care. When we had eaten as much as we could muster, I stood up to go pay the check and she ""claimed"" she was coming to get the payment. I seriously doubt it. As she hadn't been back to the table, so needless to say I didn't believe her. Too sum this up, in my opinion if you are African-American you are not welcome here, while not turned away b/c that would cause a riot, you will not be greeted with southern hospitality. And if you are an African-American lesbian couple, as my partner & I are, you will be looked at crazy, and they don't even try to hide it. Now this is just my opinion, hopefully this is not the case with all patrons of color and same-sex couples. But my experience left a bad taste in my mouth. more

Delicious Food w/ very nice staff 1/13/2010

This place was just a random place we stopped into... and we found a gem. It was absolutely delicious. The staff (especially the waitress) were so nice. You know, like they actually enjoyed your job. And you just don't see that too often anymore. The food was out quick, tasted great, and price was just right! You should definitely visit Al's!!! Pros: melt in your mouth burgers w/ yummy shakes Cons: nothing more

Best Burger 9/5/2007

Al's is hands down the best burger in arlington. The staff is always very frindley and now you can eat brakefast there. Al still hangs around and makes time to visit with ya. Pros: brakefast and burgers. Good location. great staff Cons: Al can make ya fat more

Bad Experience 1/24/2007

Based on the CitySearch rating, I went to Al's with my wife and a coworker for lunch. The atmosphere was ok. Two of us ordered the double cheeseburger, and my wife ordered a quesadilla. The waitress switched the burgers and gave mine to my coworker. Even though, it's a sit down restaurant, our burgers were wrapped in paper with no plate. The burgers are a notch below Wendy's burgers, and the fries are worse than any fast food place. The food was also very overpriced. The bill was hand written and difficult to read. The total was $26.01, but I added everything up and came up with $24.63. I also double checked my math when I got back to a computer and it came out to $24.63. We gave the waitress $28 and she followed us out of the place to complain. Pros: Diet Coke was ok Cons: Everything else more

Good Ole Fashion Burger 11/9/2006

I do not know how this restaurant made the list. My thoughts were that it was very expensive for what you get. This is equal to Wendys/ Whataburger fast food restaurant. more

Good Old Institution 8/7/2005

Good old fashioned hamburgers, the way they used to flip em off the soda fountain counter. Served with mustard, thin patties, good onion rings, and malts. Just a taste of good ole all american burgers, the way they used to be. Not many of these joints around anymore. Check it out! Pros: normal portions more
