They definitely put me at ease, which was especially nice since I had just broken down in rush hour on 277, had to deal with cops, a tow truck, and safely getting out of harms way...and stressed to the max about having to fix my car. I was very hesitant to take my anywhere since I am new to the area, but I read the reviews of this place and checked with a few locals and decided to give ALMAR a shot. I was pleased to find nice, straightforward guys there that would talk to me like the smart, independent, woman I am and not give me a bunch of BS or talk down to me. Thankfully, my dad taught me about cars so I knew right away that they were really telling me like it is, and never tried to "add on" unessasary repairs. Granted , a trans. isn't cheap- but the prices were fair and not inflated. I will definitely take my car there again if anything else goes wrong with my old clunker. :) more

I have 3 cars I get serviced here. This time it's my '08 supercharged range rover . Oil change, and OEM wiper blades. This vehicle requires 9 quarts synthetic oil, and removal of some of the underside panels and under bumper trim to get access to drain. It's also one of those vehicles that are designed to only use oem parts, like the wiper blades. Almar uses the oem parts, delivers the car clean, on time and with a sincere courtesy and interest in customer service. dont let appearances fool you, The reception area and facility decor are no match for the range rover dealer, but sincerity, politeness, attitude, price and quality are over the top. I found Almar about 8 months ago when I was ordering tires from TireRack, they had great reviews as a recommended installer. more

Brought my car here after a friend recommended me! \r \r I was having trouble with my car, took it to Firestone ($50 diagnostic fee) & they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Then I took it to the dealership who tried to charge me $220 for a 4 day long diagnostic and told me it would cost an additional $200 to fix it...\r \r Fed up, I brought my car to Almar and they fixed me car in a day! I live in Fort Mill- so it was a little out of my way, but the customer service and their quality of work was outstanding. (Did I mention they didn't try to rip me off either? They gave me a great price)\r \r This place is a great find and one you can trust. For now on, I will only be taking my car here! more

Almar's has been THE only place my parents have gone to in Charlotte for the past decade! My mom has known Andy and his son Leah for longer. Everyone at Almar's treats customers with respect and almost like their own family. But the most important aspect of this great auto shop is that their work is HONEST and affordable. I just graduated from college without knowing hardly anything about cars and have been learning about how to take care of my car and Andy and his crew have been there to aid in the process, more than they probably ever had before with anyone else! They are all nice and explain everything and anything you need them to. Almar's is also located conveniently by the Lightrail so while my car is in the shop, I can ride the lightrail uptown to work while its getting worked on. It may not be the newest building with the flashiest furniture but I rather be inside with mechanics who make me feel at home than at a dealership getting bamboozled! They also have a really cool old dentist chair. I recommend ANY and EVERYONE to take their vehicle to Almar's because they are the best! more

I went to this location based on reviews alone I called got Myka on phone was unable to give me a dignose charge over the phone as per him it varies depending what there looking for I was like ok whatever surely they have a base rate he could of given, but I took the car on in.. Shop was shabby from the OUTSIDE as well as IN.. I came with my lunch being that I was unsure I'd have to wait.. The owner had some smart commet like I bet you got alot of chicken in there me being plus size I didn't take kind to that start to jump up & whoop his A*#, but I really needed my car repaired.. Well they did get car dx & repaired and I must say I felt like it was bit pricey but the service was good for the most part. I recieved a follow up call a few days later in addition to a thank you card which was great good RP I'm impressed... more

I was new to Charlotte almost 2 years ago and growing up with mechanics in the family was always sheltered from the stereo-typical 'watch out as a female going to mechanics worries. So, I was VERY hesitant, being an out of towner and no clue of where to go. I googled of course and saw good reviews. It was close/convenient but asked my boss & he knew someone who had gone there for years and had great reviews, as well as a local insurance salesman referred me, said his Grandma goes there and LOVES those guys! He said, ""Anyone my Grandma approves, has to be good"". LOL so I tried them and have been there several times for oil changes, bought new tires, get my vehicle checked out before I travel 800+ miles home, state inspections etc. These guys are THE best around. \r Save yourself the trouble of going anywhere else. Honest, professional, FAST and they know what they are doing. I brought my 2000 Jeep Cherokee in with some kind of transmission problem. They were able to take a look at my suv and find the problem quickly and repaired it at a reasonable price. Micah even called me a couple of days later to see how my suv was running! Never had that happen before!!\r \r Micah was very friendly and curteous and I even had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Andy, the owner. I had a very good feeling about these folks and now I have a new place to take my car with any issues that may arise and feel like I will be taken care of and not taken advantage of like some other businesses might do. It's good to know you can actually trust a mechanic when they are looking at your car and give you an honest opinion of what is wrong.\r \r I will definately be back! I have a really old Accord with super high miles and have had a difficult time finding a local honest repair shop. These guys were super friendly and honest. The prices are fair. I have a rear motor mount that is in bad condition but he told me that if I am getting a new car in the next few months that he wouldn't spend the money if he were me. They are obviously committed to creating a life long customer as oppossed to making a quick buck! It was my first time there and most certainly NOT my last!! I have already passed on their info to a few friends! Pros: EVERYTHING Cons: NOTHING more

I tell ya, after some very very terrible experiences with other area mechanics, I was desperate to find someone close in to where I live, thorough with repairs and honest. An auto emergency across the street from them, where I work, led me to give them a shot. The work was very well done and the price was both honest and fair to me and them. They even repaired a tire today when I couldn't get the entire car to the garage. These guys are the bomb! more
