Absolutely Fantastic Experience 10/15/2010

My husband and I decided it was time to do a major overhaul on our home: HardiPlank siding, new windows, new front door, and the entire interior (including the ceiling) repainted. We figured it would be weeks of torture, trying to get everything figured out and done because we've heard so many people complain about their contractors. Boy, have we been extremely, wonderfully surprised. Not only has Allied been the most professional and courteous team we've ever dealt with in preparing for the work, but the actual workers have been phenomenal. Steve and Omar, our interior painters, are the best I've ever seen (and we've had numerous painters over the years). They are friendly, courteous, fast and absolutely fabulous at their jobs. Tom, Beau and the other exterior team members have been exceptional. They are so friendly and accommodating, keeping us apprised of things as we go, working hard all day long, and just doing an absolutely amazing job with every aspect of our home. I am not someone who hands out praise unless it's deserved. But I can say without hesitation that if I ever need work done on my home again, there is no one I'd call except Allied Siding and Windows. They're outstanding. more

Allied is HORRIBLE 8/11/2009

We had signed a contract with Allied just after Ike, September 29th. They told us our house would be started 2 weeks after we signed the contract. NOT! We pleaded with them to at least fix the roof so when it rained, the inside would stop getting wet. They would not answer or return our calls. We have 3 small boys living in this mess that used to be our home. Did not seem to matter. After spending hours, over many days, trying to contact these people, our roof was started 2 months later. While ""fixing"" the roof they destroyed our patio roof. They used nails to apply the shingles splintering all of the wood on the underside of the patio roof. They said they had to for warranty reasons. I asked the roofer himself and he said his guys should have used staples like the original builders; they had no supervision. Shortly after the roof was installed, the roofer came out and said he would finish out the patio to hide the underside of the roof. Call after call, email after email, and no response on starting on the rest of the house or fixing the patio roof. I called the salesman (the only one that would answer his phone, then of course lie to me) after the New Year to ask if they would release us from our contract, he said yes. I asked to have something in writing; we never herd from him again. I had to file a complaint with the Houston BetterBB to get a response from these losers. The next week end after filing a complaint with the BetterBB, the roofer came out to “fix” the patio. Allied's answer was to cover the bottom of the patio roof with plywood. It has big gaps in between each sheet and was left unpainted, how nice. 2 days after I filed the complaint, the president of Allied responds through the BetterBB sounding amazed at my request. ""They have tried very hard to help us, and they have done a lot of work behind the scenes."", I was told. BS They never even contacted our insurance or sent them their estimate. My wife had to get it from Allied and fax it to our insurance. Lenny, the president of Allied, agreed to release us from the contract. I responded and asked about the unpainted patio. Lenny said it was wood colored before, it is wood colored now. It used to be a nice grooved, natural wood siding material. It is now plywood. Lenny, now confronted with the patio, says they would encounter financial hardship if they released us from our contract in the middle of a claim. (Sounds like he wants to screw us out of some money.) ( I spent 2 weekends preparing and painting the patio they messed up. I am fighting with my insurance over money because Allied refused to meet the insurance adjuster to discuss our damage. I am the one suffering a financial hardship you greedy bastards!) I reminded him, he had already said through the BetterBB, that he would release us from the contract. He changed his mind again. We have hired new contractors that have completed everything but the floors in just over a week. The pres of Allied said they did not have the people or material to do the job. I found the people; Home Depot and Lowes are full of supplies the last time I checked. The only way to get a response from these people was to file a complaint with the BetterBB. Allied’s sales people ran around trying to sign as many people as they could after IKE. Their pursuit of insurance money has left many people living in deplorable conditions. Instead of admitting to taking on to much work, they refuse to answer their phone and ignore their customers. (Like an ostrige sticking there stupid head in the ground.) They should not have used scare tactics to get people to sigh a contract. I have never work with a more worthless company in my life. DO NOT USE ALLIED FOR ANYTHING. \r I am not the only one, check the net, there are many more.\r \r \r .\r Pros: They are out of our lifes Cons: We had to deal with these storm chasing pigs. more

Avoid 1/26/2009

Avoid this company. Coerced into signing contingency contract in order to have tarp installed on home after roof was damaged by Ike. Multiple trips required to install tarp correctly. Was forced to become more involved after insurance company requested assistance contacting company because Allied would not return emails or phone calls. Experienced same treatment with Allied. Allied blamed insurance company for Allied's failure to return calls to both us and insurance company. (We did not follow this logic either.) Began damanding cash up front for repairs once they learned insurance proceeds had been received even though items to be repaired were still being finalized. Refused to update written repair estimate to agree with changes made verbally with us. Ultimately settled contract before work began. We do not recommend using this company. Find someone else. Pros: They did not do the work because we went with another contractor Cons: Worst customer service I have ever seen more

RUN>>>>RUN>>>RUN 1/4/2009

I contracted with Allied after Ike for roofing, windows and siding and paint. I am so frustrated with this company. The sales job I recieved on the first visit was first class, but thats where it changed. I have been mislead numerous times on the start date of work and can never get anyone to answer my calls or e-mails. I have even gone into thier office several times and the shell game is amazing. When the roofing was finally started it was a contracted crew from out of town and they were totally unaware of many of the things agreed to on the job. Flashing was not replaced, drip edge not installed and decking put on top of rotted wood. The policy of no money untill job completed is out the window, they have asked for money several times prior to even starting work. (Do not pay in advance). It seems that the good name and voice of Nolan Ryan has been smeared. I would stay far away from this company. more

Avoid this Company 1/1/2009

\r This company came highly recommended by close friends who had work done 3 months ago. I contracted for replacement windows and siding 2 months before the crew came to do the windows. They gave me 3 dates that turned out to be ""no shows"". When they did arrive at my home I was left with non English speaking workers and no one to contact when there was a problem. They arrived at 1130 after promising to be there at 0830. (Prior to signing the contract I was assured there would be an English speaking person on site and a ""go to"" person if there were problems.) Windows took 4 days to install. (10 windows). No one protected my floors and broken glass cut into my hardwoods. I was told that the drapes would be removed, they were not removed and two were ruined. The window crew had a vacume cleaner that did not work and I provided mine. They also had shoddy tools that were not designed for the job they were doing. A crew came to start my siding and I was told there would be no insulation under the hardiplank.as promised. I ordered the siding crew from the property. The ""supervisor"" of the workers told me he was a contractor because Allied was very busy after Ike. I was told all workers would be Allied employees that had been with the company a ""long time"". When I complained about the damage and disregard of my flooring and furniture I was asked ""What can we do to make it better for you?"" That is not quality control. It was Allied's job to tell me what they were going to do for me. We paid the contracted price but will NEVER uise them again. What we were promised is not what we were given. I have had three custom homes built and renovated a home a few years ago and never saw the likes of the crew sent to do this job. No one offered to come and view the floors and I will spend weeks getting the mortar dust from books on the shelves, antiques and art work. There was a total disregard for my personal property. Avoid this company. more
