Akron Zoological Park

If you like a huge zoo with every kind of animal known to man that takes a day to explore, this is not the place for you. The Akron Zoo is small and modest and you can easily do it in an afternoon - which makes it an ideal place for familes who have young children and toddlers. There are still enough animals to WOW young and old, but the exhibits are so small that it feels more intimate, and they are close together so little ones do not get too tired. It is cool and shady there in the summer because of the large and plentiful trees. The parking is close and plentiful. This is a nice way to spend a warm afternoon with littler kids! more

We took our grandaughter to Boo in the Zoo last year. The employes were dressed in costumes and gave out treats. It is small and the admission is resonable. They don't charge to park. The only down fall was the lines were long, but was worth the wait. iAre grandaughter loved it. I would go back. more

My husband and I decided to visit the Akron Zoo after having such a nice time at the Cleveland Zoo. We knew it was smaller but we were in for a big shock. There was just not much to do at the Akron Zoo. We will not be going back in the near future. We would recommend the Cleveland Zoo over the Akron Zoo because the Akron Zoo seems geared more towards very young children and not the whole family. more

Wow! To my delight, the Akron Zoo in in process of spending MILLIONS on improving their Zoo. We were so excited about what they had done this year when we visited that we ended up buying a season pass by the end of the day. They basically are redoing everything that existed there. I am sure everybody know what a zoo is....lol.....just writing to let people know that it exists in Akron. I personally liked the place. I am all animal lovers will like it too. But if you are scared of animals you still should go. more

The Akron Zoo has been through a major reconstruction. In the last three years it has expanded to include more animals, more parking and more overall space. When you think of Akron, you don't necessarily think of wild animals, but they've done a great job of bringing in some of the most interesting wildlife (including lions, gators and penguins). The fountain garden is beautiful and peaceful, the perfect place to take a break from walking. Also, there are more air-conditioned spaces so you can get a reprieve from the heat. It's a little gem, right in the middle of Akron. (You can also use your Akron Zoo pass at other zoos across the country! Just ask for details) more

Love this zoo. I had not been there in many years and really enjoyed the new exhibits. I think it is a great place for young and old because it is not extremely big. I really like the atmosphere, walkways are wide and lined with trees and bushes. We went on a very hot day but with all the trees it was not very hot. The animals in their natural habitat gives you a better idea how they live in the wild. more

Akron Zoo has grown tremendously over the years, and it is one of my favorite zoos in all of Ohio. They have they usual exhibits that most zoos have, but the way the exhibits are arranged makes this a great zoo to explore with young kids. It isn't so large that kids will get tired, and it usually isn't that crowded, either--so kids can have an easy time viewing the animals. Akron Zoo often has special exhibits, like insects or reptiles, for example, that add to the interest of the zoo. There is also a large picnic area in the zoo, so you can bring along a lunch and enjoy it in between checking out all of the animals. My kids never tire of this zoo--there is always something new to see. Plus, Akron Zoo's admission is a lot cheaper than that of other Ohio zoos, so it is easy to visit several times a year and not break the budget. more
