Air Conditioned Supper Club

I was expecting the best considering it is Venice and all. But sadly I was severely let down. $$$$pricey drinks, 6 to 1 guys to girls "meat market" style, lousy poorly mixed old hip hop and top 40 garbage. I thought i heard the last of these tunes in highschool! The bartenders are terrible- slow, unfriendly & looked unapproachable (definitley not the venice style.). The menu consisted of a few items, noon of which seemed very appetizing. Save your time and money and go elsewhere, take my advice you'll thank me for it. Pros: none Cons: $$$ pricey drinks, poor bar service, terrible DJ's and music more

OK. I went to Air Conditioned the other night with my girlfriends and we had a total blast. When we got there it was crowded but not packed. We went right to the bar and got drinks from this totally cute bartender. We hung out for a while with these guys who were there for a bachelor party and then went to the dance floor...actually we danced on the stage and that was amazing. An hour later, the place was packed and we were starving from all that dancing so we found a place to sit in this very cool room towards the back and we had amazing sweet potato fries and ahi tuna. Then back to dancing and drinking and just hangin with my friends. Such a fun night!! Anyways, what I like about this place is that it is fun and cool without being a total "scene." People are nice and they are there to have fun with their friends and have a good time. We all met guys that night so it was overall a great night. We will totally go back and I highly recommend it. Pros: Atmosphere, Good Looking crowd, great food, FUN dancing and drinks. Cons: long line, but it moves fast. more

So basically i got an invitation to my friends birthday party at Air Conditioned. I personally had never even heard of this place, and when we arrived i realized that it was where the old club Marquez used to be. I was skeptical at first since Marquez used to be pretty shady, so i didnt know what to expect from Air Conditioned. We got there a little before 10, and the line was beginning to form. First thing i see is HOTTIES in line, so things were already looking up! The wait wasnt to bad when we got there, but there was definately a wait later on in the evening. I was shocked to find that the bouncers were actually FAIR when it came to guarding the door! basically it was a first come first serve basis, which in my opinion is the way it SHOULD be. We were even cracking jokes with he doormen about the people who felt they shouldnt have to wait in line. Before i even got in i already had a good first impression. And it was all up hill from there! The inside of the bar was awsome! The first thing i noticed was the glowing bar and the beautiful bartenders hehe. It never got so crowded inside that you couldnt move (unlike some places like Circle Bar on Main Street) which is a pet peeve of mine, but it still got crowded enough to keep the energy level high. The drinks were a little steep but they were strong as hell, and the DJ was throwin down some JAMS!! the dance floor was absolutely PACKED with girls who were dressed to IMPRESS, lemme tell you! I cant believe that i had never been down here before. Its a perfect addition to my hometown, just what Venice needed. Even though i had no luck with the ladies, my friend managed to pick up. Its new, it has great food, good service, a hot barstaff and patrons, an incredible girl-to-guy ratio (this is the only non-sausage fest i have seen in a while), good tunes, reasonable prices and a killer vibe all wrapped up in a slick yet very chill package. Yes, it gets very crowded on the weekends, so just get there early, as there is no cover before ten. Also, there is no list, so pretentious line-hopppers are prone to get peeved, but this is a chilled-out venice neighborhood spot, not some sheisty hollywood club. First-come, first-serve. How it should be. There are booths and tables for hanging out, a dance floor to get busy on, a world-class sound system and banging beats, as well as a back room with bottle-service and its own bar. This club is just what the westside needed, a relaxed club with a great atomsphere and feel that packs DJs, live music, tasty eats, lounging, drinking and getting down into one cool-ass spot. Sadly, this place took all the worst characteristics of club, and none of the good ones. Its like the super-anit-club. Some of its club like characteristics include: rude bouncers, over-priced drinks, high cover, long waits to get in, long lines for the bathroom, expensive valet, long lines for drinks, and terrible service. Some of the club characteristics air conditioned doesn?t have include: good music, good looking girls, any semblance of a decent guy to girl ratio, nice decor, good location, a comfortable place to sit, room for people to dance, a cool looking bar, and strong drinks. I know this place is popular right now because its new, but as soon as more people get fed up with this place, I guarantee this place will be replaced with something better in a year. And when your standing in line for 45 minutes freezing on a Friday night, remember you are being stalled at club that is across the street from a Ralphs super market. Pros: You'll wait so long outside that almost anything will seem fun.... Cons: Until you get in and you realize you were wrong. more

I just checked out this place last night. I knew two separate girls having birthdays there. Anyways, I roll up with my girlfriend and there is a gigantic line. They have three extremely mean, unhelpful, total rude bouncers getting off on insane power trips patrolling the door. It reminded me of when you worked a minum wage job at 16, and suddenly the loser from your highschool some how becomes your manager, makes 7 dollars an hour, and all of the sudden they think they are hitler. Not only will they not check the list, accept a tip, or let any girls into the "club" (im using that term really losely-wait till you get to the rest of my review) but they yell and tell us to get into the back of the line. Anyways, we go to the back of the 40 minute, 35 person line. Oh and just to let you know, the line is 100 percent guys (and ladies this isnt good for you either, as every girl i know referred to the guys as "creepy" and "gross"). So both birthday girls come out, and they still wont let us in. So we wait for an eternity. And what did we wait for? All of that hastle for....a "club" with a)all guys b)horrible music c)expensive drinks and d)decor that makes the excalibur in las vegas look like the ritz carlton. I've been to a lot of acutal clubs and i can say with a straight face that this is the worst one ive ever been too. If someone said, "would you rather go to air conditioned or get punched in the face", id choose the later, just because it would be over quickly. So at this point your probably saying "its not supposed to be some super club, its supposed to be a bar with music where you can relax". To that I say, turn up the radio in your car, drink a bud light with a friend, and sit in a target parking lot. That would be about 10 times as fun as this place. I beg you all to please not go there. It will only encourage them, and that would be like encouraging evil. Oh also, it was unanimous, everyone said that the two birtday parties totally sucked. Pros: I only have to go there once in my life Cons: I never have to return to this place again, unless god sends me to hell more
