Editorial review from Citysearch 3/11/2013

My daughter is enrolled in Acrosports for tumbling classes. I was told when I called to inform them that I would have to drop her classes, that I would have to do so online and give 30 days prior notice or my account would still be charged. I have explained on 3 different occasions since 3/7/2013 that I have custody issues regarding my child and that 30 days notice was just not possible. My child would not be able to attend any of the classes for the month of March and I was told that the payment could not be credited for April. I do not believe that I should be responsible for the $72 payment that was taken out of my account if the services were not provided. I called on 3/08/2013 and spoke to an employee who implied that the manager was not in and she would give my information \r and return my call. I did not hear anything from them, so I called again on 3/11/2013 and was informed that the manager that took care of the matter was not there but would return in an hour. Three hours had passed and no response, so I called again. This time I was told that regardless of the circumstances, the managers would not refund my account. I asked to speak with them, but then was told there was no actual manager there to speak to with and that she had been unavailable for the last two weeks. When I told the person on the phone why I was told something completely different on the previous two occasions, she said there were different managers/owners and that the one I needed to speak to was not there and would be be returning until the end of the week. I also informed her that on her website in the ""drop classes"" section, which was the only way a drop request would be reviewed, it said ""AcroSports is willing to work with families who have special circumstances if parents communicate their needs to us."" I asked her why my circumstances did not fall in this category. She said I had to explain it in the drop request, which I informed her that I did in the original request. This facility has the worse customer service and managment team I have ever encountered. more

Dishonest Billing Practices 2/16/2012

Before you sign up here please read the billing details and the amount of time required for notice before you drop. The language is confusing but amounts to more than 30 days notice if you don't notify them on the 1st of the month. And they make you go through the web site to send an email notice. I followed their process and gave them 1 month notice, from my billing date, but was sent a short email telling me that since i didn't send them an email on the 1st of the month i would get billed an extra month. So this amounted to almost 60 days notice. Forget calling them to ask about it, you have to leave a message and no one returns your calls. So beware, the cancellation policy is purposely ambiguous and they are not willing to be reasonable. more

Awesome Gym.. Very welcoming.. 3/2/2011

I have never reviewed a business but I felt compelled to do so for this gym. I have a 4 year old girl who had never participated in an organized activity before. We decided to have her try gymnastics and checked out several gyms in the area. She was apprehensive to be away from mom but the instructors were really understanding and helped her to feel comfortable even allowing me to stay out in the gym while she adjusted. The instructor gave her lots of ""high fives"" and encouragement and by the end of the class she was laughing and really enjuoying herself. We signed up on the spot and are super excited! She can't wait to go back to her ""big girl clas"". What a great experience! more

AcroSports is Great!! 2/16/2011

When my daughter was invited to ""bring a friend"" week at AcroSports I wasn't sure what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised. The class was very well run and my daughter had a great time! We are signing up and she can't wait!! Highly recommend! more

My son has been attending AcroSports for a little over a year and he absolutely loves his class. He can't wait to get out the door and in the car for his class. The instructors and staff are great and very helpful! I would highly recommend this gym!! more

great coaches/ lack of customer service 6/12/2010

We love the preschool classes at AcroSports and my child especially loves Coach Stephanie. She is great with the kids and shows great enthusiasm while she teaches. I do like that they offer registration online, however it's a bit difficult to read. When I approached someone at the office counter about the schedule I was told it was online. I told them it was a bit difficult to understand and I also had questions about what class I should place my child in. They just told me that I would need to talk with my child's coach. I asked Coach Stephanie, whom I later found out was the gymnastics coordinator, and she immediately helped me find the appropriate class for my child. I think technology is excellent and can be a great convenience, however, I don't think it should take the place of customer service. I've also asked to speak to management on 2 separate occasions and they were not there. All in all, my child is happy at AcroSports and that is what matters. Big thanks to Coach Stephanie for making gymnastics the highlight of my child's week. Pros: Coaches, great preschool classes Cons: lack of customer service/management more

Concerned at lack of communication/attention 5/27/2010

First of all, this gym has all the necessary equipment and is extremely clean. It is super convenient to major cross roads of Nasa Road 1 and 1-45 S. These are the main reasons we have been here for the past couple years. On the other hand, management is the primary reason we are now looking at a new gym for our kids. Whether direct or indirect, Kay and her office staff lack basic communication skills. Gymnastic meet announcements travel by rumor and speculation with questions and comments being met defensively or at best apathetically. Sometimes even the coaches aren't sure whether the office has registered the team for upcoming meets. Overall the coaching staff is good although there are differing styles that help and hurt some of the kids. Kids that require a little extra attention to get to the next level are often overlooked as the head coach focuses attention on the other kids to score higher at competitions. Additionally, there is a distinct feeling of favoritism by certain coaches which has been observed by several parents and mentioned by some of the kids. If your kid is at the top they MAY get the attention they need - if they are at the bottom you may not be so lucky. Bottom line, you need to watch the sessions very closely to make sure your child stays active. As for the preschool/daycare I have mixed feelings. We have had several kids in the pre-K group who have excelled into kindergarten. I strongly recommend this program with Amy. On the other hand is the post preschool daycare. The watchers in the daycare at times seem less attentive than a teenage babysitter. It was bad enough for us that we pulled our child out of the after preschool daycare due to safety concerns. In the end, assess your child and see how they would fit at this location. We are actively looking at other gyms in the area to compare our experience with AcroSports. If we lived closer we would definitely be attending Houston Gymnastics Academy. Pros: Great location and facility; very convenient Cons: Management lacks basic communication; distinct favoritism more

Unquallified Coaches 12/29/2008

The coaches at this gym do not train the Girls Team properly! This gym changes girls team head coaches about every year and they do this because they choose poor unqualified coaches to be hired. Some have been better than others but overall they seem to show little respect for the gymnasts. They SCREAM at their gymnasts all the time and no wonder there is a barrier between observers and gymnasts. I give this gym's girls competitive team overall the WORST rating compared to the surrounding gyms like Michaiu and Reflex. Pros: Good Pre-school Classes, fun fieldtrips and birthday parties Cons: Bad Team coaches, Crowded parent observatory, Crowded parking lot, dangerous more

Awesome 3/11/2008

Best gym around, instructors are excellent, and the owners really take care of any concerns that you may have. Pros: Excellent instructions more
