First of all, this gym has all the necessary equipment and is extremely clean. It is super convenient to major cross roads of Nasa Road 1 and 1-45 S. These are the main reasons we have been here for the past couple years. On the other hand, management is the primary reason we are now looking at a new gym for our kids. Whether direct or indirect, Kay and her office staff lack basic communication skills. Gymnastic meet announcements travel by rumor and speculation with questions and comments being met defensively or at best apathetically. Sometimes even the coaches aren't sure whether the office has registered the team for upcoming meets. Overall the coaching staff is good although there are differing styles that help and hurt some of the kids. Kids that require a little extra attention to get to the next level are often overlooked as the head coach focuses attention on the other kids to score higher at competitions. Additionally, there is a distinct feeling of favoritism by certain coaches which has been observed by several parents and mentioned by some of the kids. If your kid is at the top they MAY get the attention they need - if they are at the bottom you may not be so lucky. Bottom line, you need to watch the sessions very closely to make sure your child stays active. As for the preschool/daycare I have mixed feelings. We have had several kids in the pre-K group who have excelled into kindergarten. I strongly recommend this program with Amy. On the other hand is the post preschool daycare. The watchers in the daycare at times seem less attentive than a teenage babysitter. It was bad enough for us that we pulled our child out of the after preschool daycare due to safety concerns. In the end, assess your child and see how they would fit at this location. We are actively looking at other gyms in the area to compare our experience with AcroSports. If we lived closer we would definitely be attending Houston Gymnastics Academy. Pros: Great location and facility; very convenient Cons: Management lacks basic communication; distinct favoritism
