Stay away from this place! I lived there 3 years. The grounds just got worse and worse while the cost went up and up. If you see their management offices, you'll see where all the money goes. It took 2 years to sell. I lost buyers because banks wouldn't approve loans for that building. Their words, not mine. Their finances are allegedly a mess. The management is allegedly corrupt. I have no proof, just heard from lawyers, banks and locals. Worst mistake I ever made. Stay away! more

Buying an APT in Ditmars 21-38 35th st Acropolis Garden - done research but everything we saw is from a few years ago. Since we are not from the US, can I have input from neighbours in that area please? is it a safe place to live in? The APT is on the ground floor, is there problems with rats, rochs and flooding during heavy rain? more

A little Greek 6/30/2008

""Me, live in Queens? yeah right!"" .....that was my old thinking. Been living in Acropolis gardens for over a year and love it. Within__1__ block of this place you have a 24 hour pharmacy, supermarket, fresh fruit and veggie market (also 24 hrs) bakery, restaurants, coffee shop, bars, banks, bodegas, hardware store. This is only within one block!! The neighborhood is getting trendier but not in a hipster way. The building grounds are kept pretty well. Renovations have started this summer with nifty new video intercom. Apartments are good sized and the board is lenient with renovations. Sublets are allowed too which is nice. My three bedroom is nicer than anything I could have gotten with the same amount of money in Brooklyn and forget about Manhattan. This coop is two blocks from the N/W lines which go practically everywhere and connect with almost every train so commuting is super easy. The rest of the area is mostly two story brick houses. Astoria has won me over. Pros: excellent location Cons: stairwells more

great undervalued area in great (and improving) area 6/30/2008

First lets start with the one bad thing of this whole place, the stairwells are sometimes not the cleanest. thats about it and even that will be changed when they put in the marble staircases in each complex over the next 2 years. the location is amazing with everything you need from an assortment of great restaurants, markets and the last stop on the n/w train so you always get a seat in the morning rush hour and coming home after drinking all night you dont have to worry about missing your stop when u pass out. Its a safe neighborhood and with the niew video-intercom system the complex is safer than ever. It uesd to be all older families but now there are a lot of young people from manhattan and brooklyn moving to the area. its also the only rental complex in this mostly residential area so it makes for great investments, particularly the 3/4 bedroom apts. but some are definitly handyman specials. theres also security at night and laundy on the premise and cats, which i usually hate, but i havent a ratq at all and very few miceq more
