""Me, live in Queens? yeah right!"" .....that was my old thinking. Been living in Acropolis gardens for over a year and love it. Within__1__ block of this place you have a 24 hour pharmacy, supermarket, fresh fruit and veggie market (also 24 hrs) bakery, restaurants, coffee shop, bars, banks, bodegas, hardware store. This is only within one block!! The neighborhood is getting trendier but not in a hipster way. The building grounds are kept pretty well. Renovations have started this summer with nifty new video intercom. Apartments are good sized and the board is lenient with renovations. Sublets are allowed too which is nice. My three bedroom is nicer than anything I could have gotten with the same amount of money in Brooklyn and forget about Manhattan. This coop is two blocks from the N/W lines which go practically everywhere and connect with almost every train so commuting is super easy. The rest of the area is mostly two story brick houses. Astoria has won me over.
Pros: excellent location
Cons: stairwells
