Friendly Italian Bistro with Excellent Service 2/24/2010

A friendly little Italian family restaurant in San Mateo downtown. Came here on a Thursday night and it was not very busy. The server was very attentive and carefully answered all the questions we had about the menu. At the end I decided to go with the Ravioli Al Granchio. The food took a bit longer than usual and our server promptly brought us some complimentary Frittura Posillipo for appetizer. Extra bonus star for excellent service. My Ravioli Al Granchio was average. It was tasty but not as flavorful as I had in other restaurants. I tried a bit of the Vitello Milanese and found it quite delicious. The sauce was on the strong side. The Linguine Bella Napoli on the other hand was disappointing. The linguine was even a bit undercooked. 3 stars for the food. 4 stars for the service. Rounding this up this time because of the friendly service. Pros: Great Service Cons: Mediore Food more

great addition to San Mateo restaurants 12/10/2008

Beautiful ambiance and nice art work on the walls. The food was pretty delicious. I had the special of the night which was the lamb. It was amazing. I had the the zabaglione for desert which tasted good but they only put one strawberry in there. They gladly gave me more when I asked but said that is how it is normally served. Who just wants to eat a glass of cream by itself? Oh well everything else was great. Cons: crummy san mateo parking more

Holy Cow FUN FUN FUN!!!!!! 10/21/2008

This is the truest Italian flavor I have had in a while. Others may say they are Italian food, but this place is mouth watering delicious. The owner Enzo, is inviting and happy to see you. I feel like I'm in a modern Italian restaurant, with a homey feel in Southern Italy. They have music on Thursdays I think, and the guy is super charming sings to all the ladies, and dancing, what a fun place!! In a beautiful deco building, what a night, what a night!! I love Acqua Pazza Pros: Dinner Dancing Southern Italy Cons: No Cons more
