He was able to diagnose the issue with our set quickly, and made the repairs, which required soldering connections within the set to complete, while we waited. We have Sony 61"" rear screen projection TV. We really enjoy the ""big screen"" vs the letterbox formats of the new sets. My TV needed repair, and looking online I saw what the problem likely was. People were saying that their repairs cost $300-400. One guy had to wait months (with his TV at the shop!) for Samsung to ship the part. Preparing for the worst, I emailed a few people asking if they could do the fix, and how much it would cost. Jim Ackley responded quickly with a phone call, confirming it was the problem that I thought. He gave me a very reasonable estimate ($205) and we set up a time. He arrived at my house on time, and was very friendly. He fixed the TV and charged me exactly what he estimated--no surprise fees!
