I normally like to support family-run businesses, but Ace Appliance makes it hard to do so. We had Ace fix a major appliance a year ago, and they got it humming again. The work came with a 10 year warranty. That appliance had the same problem a year later, so we called Ace again. After delaying the appointment, Ace got in touch with us (presumably after checking that the appliance was still under their warranty and realizing they wouldn't get paid for this work) and said they wouldn't come by to fix our appliance. When we pushed back saying we had their warranty, the individual on the phone we talked to just hung up. We tried calling back and left messages, but our calls were never returned. We decided to go to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) for mediation--or even some sort of civil discourse--and I was unsurprised to see that the BBB gives Ace Appliance a score of ""F"" (check the BBB's website and put in a search for Ace Appliance in Toledo). They've been reported to BBB 11 times before we had our run in with them. As a testament to their lack of accountability, Ace Appliance doesn't even respond to BBB mediation requests anymore, per the BBB's website. So buyer beware: if these guys decide to try to cheat you, your only recourse is legal action. They deserve 0 out of 5 stars, but the worst this site provides is 1 out of 5
Pros: Family owned and operated
Cons: Meaningless warranty, rude phone service
