Academy Swim Club

I am a mother of two boys(5 and 2) and we have been very pleased with Academy Swim. They both do one private lesson a week. My oldest son has been swimming there for over 3 years now, not because he can't swim, but because he loves it! Our primary goal for enrolling him was water safety, but my son fell in love with the water. He has a genetic disease that effects his lungs and the swimming benefits him physically and mentally :) I put my youngest son in lessons and we had a rough start. He was afraid of the water and cried at quite a few lessons. We stuck with it and he is loving it now! The staff has been great with us over the years and has been very helpful and positive. I noticed that some some reviews are unpleased with the prices, but I love the teachers, clean facilities and indoor pool. I love the Academy Swim Club. I have two children under 5 years who have both had lessons over the past 8 months. The children are swimming and love the water. Their program not only teaches them how to swim, but they are taught water safety as well. Our instructors love the kids and the whole staff treats us like we are family. I have been to other places, don't waste you time and money. Wish I could give them 10 stars! more

The Academy has done it again. My kids had a great season this year and learned far beyond my expectations. The instructors are great and the staff is very helpful. We will be back early next year. Everything about the indoor facility was enjoyable. more

I first tried swim lessons at the Athletic Club swim school in Newhall because it was close to our home, but I soon found out that it was not the Santa Clarita Swim Club, who I guess left last year. The people there were not customer oriented and the lessons were not what I expected for my 4 year old. After two months of frustration with the staff and the not so clean and old facility, I signed my child up for lessons at the Academy Swim Club. Wow! What a difference. They treated us as if we were special, the place was new, very clean and well layed out. The pool and the murals were exciting for my child. The instructors had a much better attitude and communications with the parents. They sing songs, have special days and their water safety program is incredible. I would advise anyone who is looking for swimming lessons for their child to stop looking when you get to the Academy. The lessons might be a little more expensive, but what you and your child get in return more than compensat more

Both of my kids take weekly lessons from them as they have since they were 18 months old. My kids swim better than I do which is unbelievable for a 6 and 4 year old. I have consistently been impressed by the quality of the instructors, management and ownership. That is a lot to say since as a fellow small business owner I know how hard that really is to accomplish. The facility is first class and is always clean and sanitary. Children need to be water safe especially in Southern California were back-yard pools are as numerous as barbecues. I can't think of a better investment for my children than to give them the gift of an activity they can enjoy for a lifetime. I have not been able to find a more capable or more professional group to teach my kids than the Academy Swim Club. more

I think I was more terrified than my son was before I started. He was 2 when we came in. He had never been in the water before and seeing as how we live in southern CA, I thought it was important for him to be as water safe as possible. When I first went in I thought it was a little pricey and I was upset they wanted me to commit to 12 lessons but wow this was the best investment I have made in my son's future. In just 6 lessons he could already float on his back and was able to walk himself along the ledge to the steps. I have now been in lessons for the last year and my son is floating, treading water, and can pull himself out of the water if he falls in. This swim school is wonderful and if you are anxious with your little ones around the water, then this place can really help. Well worth the time and investment. more

I have two children who loved their experience with the Academy..they were both very nervous to get into the pool, which had a lot of kids and instructors in the pool already. The instructor was patient and silly and kind and very motivating. The kids were excited to go back and actually get in the water. The office was very pleasant to deal with although the billing takes some time to get use to, it is no different than an actual membership at a local gym. I would highly recommend any one to try this facility. My kids now want to be a dolphin which is the highest level up to get their name on the plaque. Love it!!! more

We had my daughters first birthday party here. (It was basically for her cousins) The price was decent and the staff was helpful. Everyone had a good time. I was a little upset at the end however.The staff was serving the cake and was doing it very slowly. The hadn't even passed out all the cake and I was told if we didn't leave in 10 minutes there would be overtime charges. Overall it was a good party. more

This place has a great pool and open swim hours for those winter months when you can't swim outside. I'm sure their swim classes are good, I just needed someone more strict and straight to the point for my girls. I use a private instructor. Though The Academy Swim Club has a great facility and private showers! more

My children took private swim lessons at the Academy Swim Club and they learned a great deal. More importantly, I feel they now have a good understanding of how to move and feel comfortable in the water. The Academy is primarily for private instruction, but their other location on Calgrove has great year-round classes. The Academy has great instructors that the kids really related to and the prices were typical for private swimming instruction. Great facility too! more
