Great Place for Cool Frames! 10/17/2009

I recently purchased three brand new (autumn 09 i checked online) Chanel sunglasses for my mother and two aunts, they loved them! but the cost was going to be over 1100 dollars! But the owner was so nice! she knew i was giving them as a gift and dropped the price on them! i could not believe it. i walked out paying less than a grand and she still told me to come back and have them serviced whenever i needed! Overall the owner is extremely nice and i highly recommend this store to anyone who wants quality frames at a great price! Pros: Clean modern store, great sales associates Cons: none! more

Terrible Customer Service 3/18/2008

I had seen a pair of Chanel frames that I wanted and placed my order with Academy Optical as I was unable to find them anywhere else. The woman working told me that she would place my order and that my glasses would be ready in one week. When I went to pick up the frames they had order the wrong color and had the wrong lenses. (I paid an extra $200 for an anti-glare coating). They told me that the lenses had the coating on them and not until I compared them to the glasses that I already had did they see that they didn't have the $200 coating. They told me this was a 'loaner pair' and that my 'real' glasses would be done in one more week. I finally got my 'real' glasses a week and a half later. They did include the glare coating I ordered, however; it was terrible! There were feathers in the coating and tiny scratches on the lenses. I called up to speak to the manager, Ilona. I told her that the lenses didn't meet my standards and that I wanted to keep the frames but return the lenses so that I could order them else where. She proceeded to interrupt me numerous times and then hung up on me after telling me that I had gotten 'the best of the best'. I called back and told her again, that I was not happy with the product and wanted a refund. She then proceeded to yell at me telling me that ?No one talks badly about my products. If you have something to say, come into my store!? and hung up on me again. My suggestion is to stay away from this company if you want a product that has a guarantee and good customer service. I decided to replace my lenses with better ones from Lens Crafters who have continued to assist me, offer me discounts and even gave me 30 days to return my glasses if they didn't meet my expectations no questions asked. I will not be returning to Academy Optical and wish you the best of luck if you run into any unsatisfactory purchases from them. Cons: They have no interest in keeping you as a customer, only in keeping your money. more

Great Selection! They will order anything! 12/20/2007

So i was looking for some sunglasses for my mother that i had seen in Europe, and no one could get them or even knew what i was talking about, until i went to this store. I spoke with a nice lady named Nancy who was quite accommodating. she said she could order them and i just had to leave a deposit. then after two weeks i got a call and they were in! They were great the frames were perfect and my mother loved them, just as she had while in France. i would highly recommend this place, they know what they are doing and can get any frame! I have now purchased 6 pairs from them, totaling about 3000 dollars! they even give discounts to repeat customers! Great experience! more

Worst Customer Service EVER!!!! Really dont shop there 7/27/2007

I bought my mom a pair of Chanel sunglasses for $530.00, they kept pinching her nose and we went back to get it fixed. On one encounter the manager Ilona, told my mom that she had never seen her in the store before and it was probably the only pair of sunglasses that she had ever boughten there. Pretty much implying that mo mom couldn't afford to buy any more. She then threatened to call the cops on my mom, never giving her any alternatives to fix the problem. So beware if you have a problem with your glasses you might get stuck with them as is. Go to the Westlake store instead. I will never shop there again. and I have spent over $1000.00 in sunglasses this year alone in that store. Cons: Manager doesnt let you talk more
