I left this school a little over a year ago and have nothing good to say about the administration. The court reporting teachers were excellent. Most of them had court reporting experience and were able to relate to the students since they had gone through the same training. \r It is NOT an easy program but I hear it is worth it. I have not yet found a job. \r The administration at this school is terrible. No one even knew my name and, at the time, it was not a very large campus.\r One of my friends that graduated was told by the school to apply for a company with poor work ethics, such as bribing clients with gift cards. That isn't someone I would personally want to work for and the placement office at the school should be aware of these types of firms and their practices. \r Also, they stalked her endlessly about her job search. Never did anything to help other than the unethical firm, but just wanted to get their placement numbers up when she found her own job. \r I would suggest TriC if it's close, or even an online program if you have the discipline. My friend didn't even go to her graduation ceremony, that's how displeased she was with her experience at the Academy. more

Get a real degree from a REAL school 2/16/2010

Unfortunately, what is said in these reviews is true...I went here back in 1988-1990 for a paralegal certificate. What they don't tell you is that most firms want a bachelor's degree too. I got my foot in the door at a small firm as a legal secretary and moved up from there. I now work at a very large firm but can tell you that the ""degree"" or whatever you receive from this school is not recognized. You are better off going to get a bachelor's degree and perhaps taking some paralegal classes in college or just going on to law school for what they charge in tuition here. It's not worth it. They never helped me find an externship, nor did they help me find a job...I did that all on my own and I left with a nice sizeable loan I had to pay back that could have earned me a real degree from a real college. Don't listen to their lines of crap...it's just a business. In this economy you need a real education and though I had attorneys as instructors and feel I did learn valuable things, in the end it won't matter because their credits don't transfer and you won't have a degree that any reputable firm will recognize. Cons: too many more

Paralegal education 10/23/2008

I graduated in April 08 with an associate Paralegal degree from the Akron campus. I earned excellent grades from qualified instructors who went out of their way to be helpful and answer questions. \r \r I feel I received a great education, however if I can't get a job then I owe $28,000 for nothing. I looked into several paralegal programs and chose the ACR only because of a job placement rate above 90%. Since graduating I have been told that was probably a lie and the current placement is more like 25%. The 25% number seems like a long shot to me as well since the fresh-out-of-school placement director informed me he has too many responsibilities to be actively searching for jobs and has no networking ties in the community for legal jobs .He seemed to be working very hard to establish some. \r \r I was given two job leads in May. One wanted to hire me but was 1 1/2 hours away and a 10 day temp fill in job. The other I never heard from. I recently received my third lead (in sept 08) but that looks to be going nowhere too. He says he will forward any hiring request to the graduates, but with the list of job duties the school has placed on him even that may be difficult. To be fair, since being bought our by Delta Education the focus has been the almighty dollar and trying to attract new students. \r \r In my opinion, I would have been better off with a recognizable school on my resume, though I can't imagine better teachers. The trade off of going to a small school just because they would help me get a job turned out not to be a good one\r Pros: awesome teachers Cons: higher cost, job placement more
