My wife and I had a very clear vision of what we wanted our cabinets to look like and how they would function in our newly remodeled kitchen. After shopping close to a dozen cabinet companies that claimed to make “custom cabinets” we found that while each of them carried a door that was close to what we wanted, Abodian was the only company that could produce a door with the exact specs we were looking for. Abodian helped us create the particular doors we wanted. The width of the bead board panels, the grooves in between them, the width of the edges, the edge detail…even a color match to the existing trim in our home was customized to our specification. We couldn’t be happier with the results. The kitchen looks great and the cabinets are the first element to draw compliments from our guests. I originally thought from looking through their website that they only did modern designs. Not the case. We were going for the classic Nantucket bead board look. They worked with us to create the exact cabinet doors we wanted. They were extremely helpful on the design end; making helpful suggestions along the way. They came to double check our measurements during the remodel to make sure we didn't miss anything. We also made a number of revisions throughout the process, but we had great communication with them along the way to make sure everything remained on track. They were QUICK! Three weeks or so from when we ordered to when we installed and everything was made to order down to the millimeter of an inch. They have an easy self assembly option that we originally planned on taking advantage of to save a few bucks, but timing changed so I had them do it for us. I feel like we got really terrific cabinets especially for the budget we were using. They are beautiful, sturdy, great hardware, etc. My general contractor agrees. He was really impressed with their product. more

What a dissapointment. We were ready to go with Abodian. Their designer had developed a really terrific design and we were excited to move forward, when the Designer unexpectedly was gone. We were left to work with the Sales Manager who was absoloutly terrible! We decided to walk away and go elsewhere once we made more inquirys and found that they seem to have a running ad for shop and sales help online. I hope they get their act together since their advertising is top notch.....but the messaging does not match the reality! more

My wife and I are just wrapping up a full basement remodel which included many custom bamboo cabinets from Abodian and we have been very pleased with how the project has turned out for the number of details that a project like this entails. When we initially started the process we were warned by several friends that the scope and quality of work we were planning was going to be overkill for a basement project, but we have not regretted that decision once. Instead we feel that this is going to be a new living space in the house, and not merely a basement for storage. Abodian's quality casework along with other design decisions have really turned the basement into a warm, inviting and modern space. We have been getting nothing but compliments on the results thus far. This was our second major remodel project with Jeff, who previously owned Revisioneers, a local design/build company. In that project we took the whole top of the house off and rebuilt from the second floor up. This was the process that sold us on the company's cabinet-building abilities as they were very creative and willing to spend the time with us to create many custom built-ins that fit the era of our home. When I heard that Jeff had decided to refocus his design/build abilities in the cabinet arena I knew Abodian was going to be a great solution for our project. We are very pleased with Abodian's quality work and cannot wait to finish our portion of the remodel and fully appreciate the space! more

We are a General Contractor in Seattle and recently worked with Abodian for the first time. They built the casework for a project we did in a condo tower in Belltown. The design process was painless and the design options were limitless. Once all of the decisions were final they turned out the cabinets in record time. We look forward to our next project with Abodian! more

We saw Abodian's ad in Pacific (the Seattle Times Sunday supplement) then looked at their website. It seemed like the perfect solution for some cabinets and other things we needed for our remodel. So we sent them an e-mail. No response. Then we called and got a recording so left a voice mail. No response. We tried both e-mail and voice mail again. No response. We didn't want to give up on such a great idea so got their physical address from Google and went down to see if they actually existed. They did so we walked in. We ended up meeting Jeff Bowby, the owner, who showed us around. We told him we'd e-mailed and left voice mails, and he asked everybody if they remembered getting an e-mail or voice mail from us and everyone said ""No."" Okaaaay. He showed us around (the production line wasn't working right then) and we made an appointment with Jeff for several weeks later, which was the earliest he could fit us in. We went down there on the appointed date. The production facility was making cabinets so we got to see that they actually do that. Then we went into the office to talk about the details of what we wanted, including wood, finish, style, hardware, etc. It was a disorganized mess (the showroom wasn't done yet), but we persevered and finally picked everything out. Jeff said he'd have an estimate to us in 10-14 days. It seemed like a long time for what was a fairly simple job, but we were anxious to make this work so said okay. We waited the 14 days. No estimate. So we called Jeff. He promised that he'd get the quote to us that day. That was at least 4 months ago and we never did hear back! We decided not to contact Abodian again given their track record of never having responded to anything. We ended up wasting about 3 months trying to make it work, but we should have known better when they didn't answer the first e-mail and voice mail. We never imagined that they'd drop the ball at every opportunity but they did. Also wanted to note that Abodian's June comment about having made improvements in their customer service came at the same time the owner of the company was being totally non-responsive with us so take that for what it's worth. It's a shame that Abodian has such a great concept but such terrible execution. You must have to be a designer or hit them at just the right time. more

As a designer I've been missing a vendor who could provide a well priced cabinet - that could also be made to fit my client's spaces. Abodian had just filled that missing niche. This is the perfect vendor if you want to install your own cabinets - the IKEA flat pack idea, only done with great materials and to your exact dimensions. I'm just finishing up a kitchen for a client, and while a couple of things weren't perfect the first time (they never are) the way Jeff handled the mistakes will make me want to work with him again. No drama, he just fixed it. In our case, Abodian also assembled and installed the cabinets, and the GC on the project has nothing but good things to day about the installer. Maybe people aren't familiar with reasonable lead times for custom goods - Abodian is not IKEA and things are not in stock. Waiting 6-10 weeks for custom cabinets is pretty standard wherever you go. Some shops you have to wait 12 weeks or longer. I found their lead time to be just fine. more

We have been wrestling with Abodian for months over very simple cabinets. No return phone calls, wrong measurements, WE rebuilt an entire wall to accommodate our ""custom"" cabinets since they couldn't do what they promised. And of course no discount on the price even though we have spent hours and hours of our own time and have chased them for months. Endless headaches!!! Disorganized!!! Zero stars!!! Pros: good concept Cons: can't manage to build the right cabinets and LONG wait more

The product line of Abodian was very appealing to me but there's been nothing but frustration for almost two months. When I first contacted them for info, they assured me that their product was exactly what I wanted. I sent plans for a complete kitchen but got no acknowledgement; I reminded Jeff Bowlby and he assured me that the plans would be sent to the designer. I got no response for a month when I reminded him again; he told me that he would get right on it. Nothing. Finally I got an email from the designer telling me that my phone had been disconnected (not so) and telling me that I needed to resubmit my plans. Phoning him gives me nothing but voice mail. What a frustrating experience when building a new house. Not a company I would recommend as being reliable or trustworthy.
