Took our 4 year old Shih Tzu Stanley to our breeders vet for a second opinion and was extremely impressed with the care and knowledge they shared with us. Very reasonable and well worth the trip from Marblehead, MA. more

Great care, great price 1/7/2012

This is a great vet office. They are empathetic, reasonable in their pricing, and most importantly, they really know their stuff. I've brought both cats and dogs to AAH and I've always been pleased with the experience. I rescued a dog that was quite nearly dead from worms and they helped to bring her back to health. They were quite sensitive when I brought my boyfriend's elderly but otherwise reasonably ok dog in for an ear infection. They took very good care of both of my cats. And I hate to say this, but it's one of very few veterinary offices/hospitals where I don't feel like I was taken advantage of. There are some local clinics/animal hospitals that will give you poor advice that costs alot, misdiagnosis after misdiagnosis, bill after bill. This has never happened to me at AAH. The only drawback of this place is that it's very, very busy - expect to wait. But to me, it's a sign of a very good doctor who's in demand, so I don't mind. I just veg out a bit and say hi to the various dogs and cats in the waiting area. Who ever complained about the ""ambiance"" of this place should get a life. It's a veterinary clinic, not a restaurant or nightclub. Who cares about the ambiance? more

Best Vet I've Ever Known! 12/27/2011

I met Dr. Jack and his wonderful staff many years ago as a single Mom raising a 6 year old daughter on my own. We had 2 kittens and they needed shots and to be fixed. Dr. Jack, realizing my situation, took it REAL easy on the prices and made it possible for me to sustain two cats in our household and keep them healthy. Nowadays, my daughter is 27, and i have three small dogs that Dr. Jack and his staff look after. I can go there almost anytime to get their nails done for $5 (try getting that at a groomer!), or be seen for any reason almost immediately. As for Dr. Jack Curtain, he's as professional as anyone but knows how to be warm and empathetic. This Vet was once the head vet at two area zoos so he really knows his stuff. It may get busy there occasionally, but the staff keeps things moving when it does. Mostly its smooth with appointments and walkins running like a well oiled machine! At any rate, I'd wait days for this vet to see my pets! Thanks for all your years of dedication Dr. Jack! Stacey Muha Fernandes more

No way to run a business 6/3/2011

Was very disappointed as I called prior to get all my information on declawing of my cat. A very good price was was quoted to me. I was told they would need to see cat prior to make sure she was okay. This was understandable. Gave info on cat including her age. Made appt. knowing she had to be updated on her shots. Went for visit got shots and $89. later I was told that they don't declaw after 6 months old.I wish this was mentioned prior as that was my main purpose for visit. I understand she needed her shots as I would have gotten those no matter where I went. I found another vet and I will say a very nice vet to meet my needs but had to pay for office visit all over again as they needed to see the cat as that is standard practice. She came home 2 days after her sugery and by the 4th day she was runnining and jumping with no problems as Abington Animal Hospital claimed it was to painfull for a cat /kitten over 6 months old.Bottom line this should have been told to me prior when talking on the phone not after they got me there and my money. more
