Great staff and facility 2/25/2011

I bring lots of animals in for my rescue group and can say that I work closely with Dr. Javaid and his staff. He has always been very honest with me and respectful of my funds. He will tell you like it is in a very blunt manner but I always appreciate that about him. You can't beat there hours either! So don't listen to the nonsense from other reviewers. When it comes down to it, it's always about money. If you don't have money to spend on your pet then you shouldn't have one! more

BEWARE OF SERVICES NOT ASKED FOR!!! 2/22/2011

Took our dog into Abbot on Feb.21st and asked them for annual shots and heartworm test. They asked us to leave our dog and come back in about 30 minutes. When we picked up our dog, the charges were $339.95! No annual shots were given and all sorts of tests were done, without our permission. They gave us medicine to take home and when asked what it was, the girl up front couldn't tell us. Seems to me like all they are interested in is money and not your animal. We are filing a complaint with the Veterinarian Board. more

Cruel to both animals and people STAY AWAY 1/21/2011

I worked for this clinic back in 2006 I was 19 years old and they hired me saying they would provide training to me. Ath the time I thought that was great. I now realize they only hire inexperianced assistants so that they have no idea if what the doctor is doing is correct or not. I quickly found out that this doctor is cruel to animals, employees and clients. I quit after witnessing the doctor yanking a small dog that had been in a dog fight with a large dog by a leash-dragging him across the floor..his diagnosis-broken back. I honestly think there could have been a more humane way of coming to this conclusion instead of treating the poor, scared animal so rough. He ended up having to put the animal to sleep but not without the owner having to put up $1000 deposit. more

Excellent hours and service! 1/11/2011

let's be honest people, all of your reviews pertain to issues with money. If you don't have money then you shouldnt own an animal. This place is not the Walmart of veterinarian medicine therefore you will pay more. With that being said, Dr. Javaid has always been honest, knowledgeable and good with my pet. I respect there honesty and sense of urgency every time i walk into the building. The building is always very clean and the techs are always friendly and handle my pet with love. I will continue to remain a loyal client and bring my pet for his medical and grooming care. more

I'm not usually the review writing type, but I am writing this in the hope that fewer people will be victimized by this clinic in the future. more

Horrible place 11/17/2009

I took my year old Sun Conure Parrot here one evening because I noticed he was acting a bit strange, like he wasn't feeling well, so to be safe I found this clinic in the phone book. The receptionist (who was kind of rude) told me to bring the bird in and that there would be an $85 emergency visit charge--which seemed reasonable at the time. I took my bird in and waited around in the room for a while until the doctor came in. His website says that he is trained with birds, yet he didn't seem to know much about them. he said he was going to put Charlie (my bird) in an incubator over night--this is standard practice--and that I could go. I felt really uncomfortable leaving Charlie there, but I assumed ""doctor knows best"" so I left. About two hours later the vet called me to tell me that my bird had died and I needed to come get him. I was horrified, and completely distraught. I arrived to the office in tears and they (with total lack of compassion) handed me my dead bird wrapped in a paper towel. Next they told me that I owed them about $1000, but since the bird was dead that it was only going to be $700. only. I was such a mess that I didn't even argue with them, but now I really wish I had made a bigger deal. This place is ridiculous, and in all honesty, I think I would still have my Charlie if I hadn't taken him here. for the record--NO STARS more

OUCH!!! 11/13/2009

My dog had a seizure around 9:00 pm. This was the only place I could think of that was open. Lady at front was very rude to start with. Given this was what I thought was an emergency, the lady insisted that the ""emergency"" visit cost of $85.00 be paid first. The dog started a seizure again and I asked her to get the vet. She was not listening to me and finally I had to yell to get her attention. (No one else in the place at that time). Finally, she called someone...another tech who stood there and watched. Eventually, the tech said bring him back. All he did was a temp check. Then the vet came in and looked at his ears. This was the $85.00 chg!!!! Vet said it could be several things and while he was discussing the different things that could be checked, the front desk lady left the room. Next thing I knew, she presented me a bill for $1,200 for the vet to ""check"" things. At this point, I felt very uncomfortable with what was going on. Given I didn't understand what was happening and/or why it was happening to the dog, I decided to have the tests run. He asked for a $1,000 ""deposit"". The list of items included 3 xrays at $80 each plus $45 to review them, $97 to examine him. I'm sorry, what was the $85 for??? $71 to keep him overnight and a bunch of other costs. I called the next day after reading reviews here, which only confirmed my original thoughts of this seemed very over the top and had him stop what he was doing. All of the samples had been done with nothing being found wrong. I did some checking on the internet to find that there are several different types of seizures dogs can have. The vet never discussed these or even mentioned the various types. My dog suffered through 2 that night and, based on other symptoms seems to have had a ""cluster"" seizure. Anyway, I'm taking him to another vet for evaluation. The whole thing just seemed very odd and awkward. I would never go back to this guy. Other vets that I have been too always talk about an elimination process. They start with something and eliminate possibilities before moving to the next item. And, they always let you know what they are doing and why they are doing it. This guy just wanted a blank check to do whatever he wanted without really saying why. Don't use him...that's the bottom line... more

the worst! stay away! 10/12/2009

I called prior to inform them that my ferret was suffering from an allergic reaction to a distemper vaccination. On the phone a women stated that the vet on call was familiar with ferrets. Upon arrival they made me fill out info giving my SNN and credit card info and charged me $98.50. Then made me wait another 30 mins for the vet which knew nothing. He injured my ferret trying to take its temp and nearly dropped him after being bitten.(obviously had never even held a ferret in his life!) he argued with me for nearly 30 mins stating that he had a parasite and gave my a quote of 218 to save his life. he told me to pick and chose which medications i wanted to give!! All of which were too high of a dose and would most likely kill my ferret. I told him he just needed injectable benedryl and the doctor ask how much I wanted to give him???!!! I walked out now taking legal action. Cons: everything more

Absolute Worst Vet I have ever had 4/18/2009

I never write reviews for any type of service or experience but this one is well deserving. First we had been out of town and let someone take care of our dog. We came back into town and she had bloody and runny stool and was in obvious distress. Unfortunately I used the yellow pages and it was on a Saturday afternoon so Dr. Javaid's office was the only one open except for emergency clinics. They could see us immediately so we went and I was very surprised that they wanted payment for the office visit up front but we paid it anyway. The very young and new assistant was very nice and helpful, she stayed in the room with us trying to help our dog. When the vet came in we were immediately aware of his lack of knowledge and were surprised when he asked questions that was already written on our dog's chart. Some things we had to answer several times since he was clueless on what to do. He charged us for a stool sample and then came back with a quote of over $700 to ""figure out"" what was wrong, $400 of which was miscellaneous. We asked about the charges and it was obvious he was trying to dismiss us and was unable to expertly answer any question we had. The assistant was noticeably upset about some of the answers the vet was giving us and she even had a small discussion about our dog's care with the vet. I immediately started looking for other vets on the Internet and I noticed the horrible reviews from other clients and we left. Pros: Open when other vets are closed Cons: Vet is horrible and has no compassion or knowledge more

Rip-off 11/29/2008

After Hurricane Ike, my rabbit had a stroke and was paralyzed. My regular vet had no power and I couldn't find a vet to put our rabbit down. I finally got the number to this clinic and was quoted $65. My husband drove an hour and a half to get there, to be told it would cost $180.00 He went ahead and paid it since the rabbit was in obvious pain and we had no other available options due to most vets being closed. I feel like we were ripped off. When I told my vet, he said I should report this clinic for price gouching (?). I think they took advantage of the situation with the Hurricane and didn't really consider the pet. I would not recommend tis vet, find an honest caring one somewhere else. Pros: Open Cons: The whole establishment more

are you kidding me! 11/14/2008

I took my German Sheppard in for an examination. They charged me a ridiculous amount of money for just a standard vet check with shots! I also asked to see the boarding area and they refused! Make's you wonder what those poor animals in the back must be going through. I am not sure how they stay in buisness. The so called office manager needs a major attitude adjustment as well! This place in my opinion was horrible to me and my baby! Cons: everything more

Worst Vet 10/2/2008

this vet will charge you a rediculous price for service, talks down to you and when faced with knowledgable questions he does not answer. Makes you wonder how much he really knows, hide behind his bad english and accent to not answer you logically. We paid $900 for xrays and an overnight stay to deal with bladder stones. When we picked up our dog he would not come out to give us any information about the medication how much to take and when etc. The staff is useless and knows nothing about dogs and connot answer your simplest question. they will not approve online prescription orders and make it difficult so you buy from them at outrageous prices. We changed vets and when I went to get our paper work for the new vet they refused. They even refused to give back my paper work from our previous vet. After arguing with them they gave up the bare minimum info and I even got our xrays back but then the admin tried to get me to sign a waiver to bring them back...no clue! Pros: nothing!! Cons: everything, highpricing, poor knowledge, rude staff and vet more

are you kidding me! 4/29/2008

OK first off I have never been treated this way before! They charged me an $85.00 fee for taking my dogs temp. Then they would not treat my dog even though she was near death! I ended up going to another vet which worked out payment arrangements. I know they need to make a living but they wouldn't even talk to me after I said I only had $250.00 on me! more

I was not happy with boarding here 4/29/2008

I was not very happy with boarding here. My dog seemed very thirsty when I picked him up. The building in front was kept clean which was a plus. I didn't get a very nice response from the manager. I probably will never come back. Pros: front of building Cons: boarding more

Complete Waste Of Time And Money - Don't Care At All For Animals 4/28/2008

Called them after our 12 week old Boston pup fell last night and her shoulder swelled. She was in obvious distress. They quoted $85 ""consultation fee"", and assured me we could work out payments if treatment was necessary. I took the puppy there and paid the $85. After 5 min evaluation, an assistant gave me a quote of $400 for x-rays payable in advance before anything else could be done. I was told payment in cash, or I could apply for credit through some 3rd party they use ""if I had good credit"". I did not have that much available to me at the moment, so they said they could not help me. They also refused to let me speak directly to the vet from that moment forward. I was told the ""consultation fee"" was only to get the puppy's weight and temperature, and to give me a quote for further services. Pros: hmmm...They Were Open Cons: No compassion or regard for animals, Vet hid behind office workers and wouldn't talk to me more

Great Vet, Rude Office Manager 11/21/2007

The Vet was very helpful and the building was very clean. The Vet was honest and open although, when I picked my dog up from boarding there the Office Manager was very rude. I have never been made to feel like I was beneath someone before. I would probably come back and see the Vet he is a great person but will probably not come back because of the Office Manager's rude behavior. Pros: Vet, clean building Cons: Office Manager more
