Amazing. The technician was extremely nice and professional. Thank you so much for the timely service. I'm so impressed that I was able to call late Saturday night and have a new water heater installed Sunday afternoon. Installation was clean and tight. It was like the plumber really cared about what he was doing even though it was Sunday afternoon AND he was in an attic. That doesn't happen often and I enjoyed writing a check for exceptional quality. This is the first review I've ever written. more

We signed up for the BAM AC/Heater Inspection program with Abacus. We had our first AC inspection on April 13, 2015. The tech that came out took a look at our system and immediately told us that we had mold in our plenum and that our whole system was in poor condition. Well, what he did not know is that my contractor was also at the house at the same time. My contractor is certified in mold detection and removal. His opinion was that we did not have mold anywhere as we would be able to smell it and mold lives in places where air is not circulating. Air is flowing through the plenum when ever the AC is on. To replace the plenum the quote was $1,680. Then he went as far as to tell us we needed a new coil because it was rusted. Our system is only 6 years old and it is a 16 seer. To install a 5 ton all aluminum box with plenum was quoted at $3,680. He also said we were low by 3 pounds so he charged the system at $60 per pound. We let him leave after paying for the coolant. I called my regular AC guy who installed the system and he said a plenum should cost no more than $450. That is a huge difference in pricing. So my AC guy came out. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my system. In fact, he said it was in great condition. And my AC guy only charges $20 a pound to charge a system. Another rip off. So Abacus is a bunch of fibbers! On top of that they over charged my system. Great. So I paid for more coolant than I really needed. So bottom line is that Abacus takes advantage of its customers which is a really crappy business model. I will never use them again. I will find a mom and pop company who is honest and cares about its customers. Goodbye Abacus! more

No-Show and no call after waited for 3 hours 6/26/2015

I had an appointment set for a quote to replace my complete A/C system including all new ducts and blown in insulation. The appointment window was between 3:00 & 6:00. After waiting without a call from Abacus, 5 minutes before 6 I called to see if the Tech was still coming. It was at that time I was told that he was running late and it would be after 6 before he could make it. A phone call would have been nice. I would think that in a 3 hour window one call to me letting me know that this would have been the right thing to do. Everyone's time is valuable. To top things off, during my call to find out if the Tech is coming, I was asked if I wanted to reschedule, I said no and that there's plenty other A/C companies that would take my $10K. I was told "OK" and bye. Horrible customer service from a "Service Company". I'm so glad they're not the only one in town. more

Houston's best bet! 6/22/2015

I've had two experiences with Abacus Plumbing and Air Conditioning. The first was when they put in a brand new AC, and it's been awesome! They showed up on time, installed it in less than an afternoon, and they cleaned up after themselves. The second experience was when a pipe burst in the attic. They came out, did the work at a reasonable price, and I was satisfied. more

I called you on May 28, 2015 at approximately 1:00 pm and the technician responded the same afternoon. After the inspection of my system, it was determined the coil needed replacing. The part of the system where the coil sits was almost nineteen years old. Instead of replacing the coil, I decided to replace the whole unit; which I feel will save money in the future. the technician and his crew returned the next morning of May 29th and did a very good job. My first contact with Abacus was AWESOME! Eddie was timely, gave me a complete explanation and estimate prior to starting and signed me up for the annual plan. He was very pleasant and professional and my family is very pleased. The weather was bad and he worked in and out of the rain to fix my pipes inside the garage and outside. He also covered his shoes each time he entered my home which i thought was quite considerate and before he left, he swept up all the debris from the repair. Top notch! I saw your ad on Channel 11 and am glad I called. Thank you for sending Eddie. He deserves an A+ rating! more

He even set up an appointment for me with the electrician so I could get the sensors tied to my electricity. You are very fortunate to have John as your lead technician. I thought they did very well. Not Recommended! 5/28/2015

I purchased the Abacus Home Membership program for my AC/Heating. They arrived on 5/27/15 and after inspecting my AC units, they said that I needed a new complete 3 Ton unit, coil and furnace. I was shocked, as my home is only seven years old this spring. After Tech James told me that my upstairs unit was shot, he quoted me a replacement cost of $12,768.00. After questioning the high price, he immediately lowered the price to $12,000.00 flat. Feeling that Abacus sent me a crooked Tech, I told him no thanks and escorted him to the door. I still have the written quote from Abacus. So, I looked on Angie's List and called another AC Company who came out the next morning. I did not mention anything about the Abacus sham. After about a two hour complete inspection, the American Comfort Tech said that I had a leaking coil and should probably upgrade my outside condenser. I asked about the furnace and he said that it looks very good and will last at least 10 more years. American Comfort quoted me a replacement cost of only $5,200 and did to try to sell me a larger unit for three times the cost! American Comfort Experts - the honest choice... more

It starts with a phone call ahead of time to schedule the appointment then a follow up call the day before or the same day early in the morning to remind you they will be coming out for the service. Another follow up call when the technician is on the way. Technicians are always friendly and provide good service with a service review to let you know if there are any current or possible problems. Recommendations are made, but never presented as something that must be done, it is always your choice. The prepaid annual service for cooling and heating systems is the best deal out there. What can I say other than ""BAM""! more

Wants to charge to come out and sell an a/c system 5/20/2015

Im sorry but I am trying to purchase an Lennox A/C system. I am not looking for a repair. The young lady I talked to told me that it would cost me $49 dollars for a salesman to come out and talk with me about spending thousands. To me this is insanity. more

A dependable plumber that gets the job done! 5/12/2015

We have had other plumbers that have done work for us, but they were not as thorough or accurate as Abacus, and they did not do as much of a good job. Abacus went out of their way to be helpful. We sat down with the staff and talked over what needed to be done. They gave us several options and we found an option we could follow. We have used Abacus once before for a smaller job, and we were very satisfied with them the first time so we came back to them for this project. It was a major project: they had to completely re-pipe the plumbing system through the kitchen and bathroom into the main sitting drain. It was a 2-3 day job, and it was very expensive, but they let us set up monthly payments over a year or two. A lot of plumbers won't do that, they need the payment up front. The project turned out wonderful; we have not had any problems and all the drains are running perfectly. more
