Best Sunday Brunch Ever 6/24/2011

I went to Paschals for Sunday brunch and it was wonderful. They have a great variety of food in their brunch buffet that will please everyone and they also have a wonderful dessert table with delicious cakes and pies. The service at Paschals is excellent-it's southern hospitality at its finest. I highly recommend Paschals for Sunday brunch-you will leave very full and satisfied! more

Chicken and waffles top notch 9/18/2009

I actually had a great experience here. The food was great, the manager came over to me and asked how everything was. They were super cordial and the chicken and waffles were seriously incredible. Pros: Great chicken and waffles more

Fried chicken was delicious 8/26/2009

The fried chicken here is second to none. The valet bothered me a bit because he was a little rude. Besides that the food was certainly amazing Pros: Fried chicken Cons: Parking more

The tale of an appalling, terrible, and dreadful meal 8/10/2009

To say that our meal at Paschal?s was awful is an understatement. A group of 10 of us went to this ?restaurant? last Saturday for my girlfriend?s birthday. We were seated promptly at a table for 7. Upon sitting down, we waited 8 minutes for the first of our servers to greet us. Approximately 5 minutes later, a manager and another server came to greet us. 20 minutes after the first server took our drink orders, I received a glass of wine that tasted like it had been fermented from beets. So one has to think that since we started off on the wrong foot, the dining experience must have improved?but then you would be wrong. The table ordered off of the pre-fixed, restaurant week menu. We thought this would expedite the dining process but to our dismay, it only added to our unbelievably awful experience. The appetizers came out within a span of 20 minutes, I waited 30 minutes for a glass of water, which I asked for twice, and when the entrees finally came, we were all unsurprised to find that the food we had waited almost 2 hours for, was adequate, and that?s generous. One couple left after nibbling at their short ribs and chicken and waffles- they subsequently found edible food at a local Publix. At this point, after eating half of my blackened catfish, which was lightly-browned and lukewarm, I decided to speak with the manager to vent my frustrations. I asked the hostess to speak with the manager. I waited for 8 minutes at the front for her to come. I gave up and returned to my table whereupon I told 3 waitresses that I needed to speak with the manager. When the manager finally decided to stop by and talk to me, I recanted the night?s events- everything from the terrible food, the terrible service, the lack of attention to detail at every step, and even the fact that the waitress didn?t even care enough to ask why 2 people had left after looking at their entrees! After complaining for 5 minutes, I offered her advice. Having managed a restaurant myself, I gave her advice on training tips for her staff to prevent some of the awful things that happened to my table from occurring in the future. She gave me a disingenuous apology and thanked me for the advice. The manager, even after I complained about how awful our dining experience was and that we would NEVER return to this restaurant, did not come over to apologize to our table. To say that I was embarrassed for her and the entire restaurant is an understatement of monumental proportions. Pros: cornbread mufins (that took us 45 minutes to get) Cons: I've had better experiences at funeral homes more

Great traditional southern food 6/15/2009

Went with some friends on a Friday night. It was a little busy so the wait was about 20 minutes. We were starving so the wait was a little annoying. Server was very nice and attended us right away. We had the fried chicken and it was delicious. We also had the chicken salad and it was quite tasteful as well. Besides the wait, we had a great experience. I tend to stick with healthy eating but the fried chicken was definitely a good option for my cheat day. more

Terrible customer service, unnecessarily long wait to be seated, snobby and prejudicial staff. 4/21/2008

Prior to showing up to Paschal's I had called in a pick-up order. I expected to show up, pay for my already prepared food, and leave in no time. I was in for a rude awakening. Upon arrival, I walk in alongside two older white women (I am a young African-American male) that arrive at the same time. They were seated immediately. The greeter (an older woman herself) that seated them then chose to ignore me, going around doing other things, and I found myself standing up front for 10 minutes before she or anyone took notice. Finally, she decided to do her job at least in part, and told me where I could pay for my order which was supposed to be at the bar. The same thing happened at the bar. I stood there waiting, and waiting.....and waiting, while no bartender was in sight. I go back up front to inquire about this and once again the greeter chose to ignore me and laughed, joking around with one of her friends instead of doing her job. I should also mention that she had time to play with her friend because the restaurant was nearly empty and no one else besides me was waiting for service. Several minutes later I finally got her attention but by then it was too late, I was fed up and didn't feel like putting up with the terrible service any longer. I left without giving them my business yet also without the food I had expected to get. In all, the staff at Paschal's (at least the waiters, and especially the octogenarian woman greeter) behave irresponsibly, walking around with their nose in the air, like snobs, picking and choosing who gets good service and who gets bad service. Don't let them use prejudice against you and get away with it. Pros: The original Paschal's had a long, rich history that this new Northside Dr. location has taken advantage of to falsely adopt as their own. Cons: Long wait to be seated, staff picks and chooses which customers to ignore and which to serve, overall abhorrent service. more

Paschal's 9/24/2007

I have been to Paschal's on a number of different ocassions. I have had their buffet as well as ordered from the menu. Each time I have been extremely satisfied. I found the prices to be no more expensive than what you would find at any restaurant of quality, no matter what cusine is served. I have enjoyed my dining experience each time I have been there. Pros: Great atmosphere, good food, friendly wait staff Cons: None at the present more

Sunday Brunch is SOOO Overrated!!! A shear disappointment for us as out-of-towners..... 8/20/2007

The only good thing that I have to say about this restaurant is the interior decor. The decoration is simply gorgeous!! Now I must say, the service was not up to par. The waiter hardly was visible, there were very few items to chose from on the brunch buffet (between 10 dishes), you had your choice of either watered down lemonade that resembled dishwater and sweet tea (that was MY highlight!! Excellent!!) The omelet was very greasy but the chef was extremely nice. The mac n cheese was good along with the cornbread dressing. The host was rude to us and tried to remove one of the place settings even though someone was sitting there without asking us. (Which was just one of the things that they did in harassing us...) They gave us the bill for one price and charged a whole different price to the credit card (a whole $20 extra!!). All in all we made the best out of the situation but we will not be attending another brunch at Paschal's. Pros: interior design, sweet tea Cons: parking, lack of food variety on the brunch buffet, service, too expensive for what you get more

Under whelmed 8/1/2007

Okay, I am southern. So paying an arm and a leg for mac & cheese or catfish that just taste OK is not for me. The food is good, don't get me wrong. HOWEVER, this restaurant is not for the 'true to the heart"" born and bred southerner with decerning tastebuds. Pros: African - American Owned, Pillar of the Black Community and Civil Rights Struggle Cons: Southern Cuisine flavor profiles have a 'one size fit all'... buffett-like taste approach. Nothing bold and memorable. more

Wow!!!! 9/20/2006

I can only say one thing about this place and that is ""WOW""; the food is wonderful, and the service is above average. Also, the price is affordable. Pros: Service, Food, Price Cons: Parking more

Great soul food 9/19/2006

The food was great, the only drawback was the green beans (tasted like straight out of the can) and that they ran out of a lot of things but other than that the ambiance was nice, fried chicken was good and gumbo was great!!! more

excellant place to find soul food 7/13/2006

The minute we walked in the door we knew we were in the right place for some good old down home eating. I really enjoyed the catffish, greens and cornbread. My wife had the finger licking B-B Que Ribs, my brother had the fried chicken and my sister in-law had the baked chicken. We all sampled each others meat dish and came to the conclusion that it's all good and we will have our Family Reunion dinner at this Restaurant. If you see anybody from the Murphy Family from Easley, S.C. or Modesto, Ca. ask them if they would go back and the answer you will probablly get is , OOOOH YES. Pros: very roomy, use the valet parking Cons: not enough parking close, need reservations on Friday nights more

Whatever Floats Your Boat... 4/8/2006

THe food was ok but not for the price. The catfish fingers are really good (you dont get alot though) but dont try the creole pasta (It looks and smells great, but it tastes like Ramen noodles and tomatoes) The waitress took forever and did not check on us ONCE after we recieved our food. Overall if your in the area I would suggest going but I wouldn't make it a special planned date. Pros: Atmosphere, Beverages, Bread Cons: Terrible Service, Amount of Food, Taste of Creole Pasta more

Love it 6/8/2004

I always enjoy my Paschals experience. To me it is like a hidden treasure. Never crowded, easy parking and good food. The ambience is nice and appropriate for many different things - lunch, brunch, business meeting, a date, a group event, dinner, etc. I love the peach cobbler, fried chicken and greens. Pros: free valet parking, never crowded more
