To say that our meal at Paschal?s was awful is an understatement. A group of 10 of us went to this ?restaurant? last Saturday for my girlfriend?s birthday. We were seated promptly at a table for 7. Upon sitting down, we waited 8 minutes for the first of our servers to greet us. Approximately 5 minutes later, a manager and another server came to greet us. 20 minutes after the first server took our drink orders, I received a glass of wine that tasted like it had been fermented from beets. So one has to think that since we started off on the wrong foot, the dining experience must have improved?but then you would be wrong. The table ordered off of the pre-fixed, restaurant week menu. We thought this would expedite the dining process but to our dismay, it only added to our unbelievably awful experience. The appetizers came out within a span of 20 minutes, I waited 30 minutes for a glass of water, which I asked for twice, and when the entrees finally came, we were all unsurprised to find that the food we had waited almost 2 hours for, was adequate, and that?s generous. One couple left after nibbling at their short ribs and chicken and waffles- they subsequently found edible food at a local Publix. At this point, after eating half of my blackened catfish, which was lightly-browned and lukewarm, I decided to speak with the manager to vent my frustrations. I asked the hostess to speak with the manager. I waited for 8 minutes at the front for her to come. I gave up and returned to my table whereupon I told 3 waitresses that I needed to speak with the manager. When the manager finally decided to stop by and talk to me, I recanted the night?s events- everything from the terrible food, the terrible service, the lack of attention to detail at every step, and even the fact that the waitress didn?t even care enough to ask why 2 people had left after looking at their entrees! After complaining for 5 minutes, I offered her advice. Having managed a restaurant myself, I gave her advice on training tips for her staff to prevent some of the awful things that happened to my table from occurring in the future. She gave me a disingenuous apology and thanked me for the advice. The manager, even after I complained about how awful our dining experience was and that we would NEVER return to this restaurant, did not come over to apologize to our table. To say that I was embarrassed for her and the entire restaurant is an understatement of monumental proportions. Pros: cornbread mufins (that took us 45 minutes to get) Cons: I've had better experiences at funeral homes
