A-Rock came recommended...but unfortunately, we can not recommend them to anyone else. This story begins very early spring 2013 when we contacted them regarding a replacement Outdrive Lower. They gave me a price of $1000 for a rebuilt and $500 for a used one. I told them to go ahead and to let us know when it was ready...never got a call I called them back after a couple weeks and they didn't know me from Adam. I told them again what we needed and once again were given the pricing. I said OK please get us a rebuilt. about 2 weeks later I got a call from them telling us they had lost all the information and could we please tell them again what it was we needed. I gave them the information AGAIN. They told me it would be a week or two and they would call. This time I called the next day just to make sure that this time they were on track. They said WOW! We were just about ready to call you we have your lower for you. When I arrived at their store I waited 45 minutes before anybody even acknowledged me. Finally they brought out this unit. The top looked dirty and I asked if it was a rebuilt. They said it was rebuilt and that the pump on top was new...so I coughed up the Grand. After getting it home and upon closer inspection I noticed that the dirt on the top of the lower and around the mating surface was covered in old grease and grime. During the installation process at one point I laid the lower down on it's side and the most disgusting stinking lube spilled out of the thing. It was absolutely Gross. Old, Old gear lube Stinks to high heaven and this lower sure did. It was obvious this lower had not been rebuilt. They cheated us for $500 and we have a lower outdrive that was never maintained and nobody knows how long this beat up thing is going to last. After all the dicking around it was mid summer before we got our boat back on the water...what a fiasco!!! As far as I'm concerned I will NEVER go back and will NOT recommend them to anyone!!!! more

they worked their guts out for us, and have located correct pitch props for multiple outboards, have been taken time with service but old motor parts are not as common, and done right the first time! price on repairs was as expected. super nice friendly people! more

My boss needed an engine. He bought an engine from a 3rd party. It failed after 3 hrs of run time. The cam shaft would walk back and forth chewing up the cam gear on the ignition. He brought it back to the shop from Lake Powell and found the problem. Instead of having someone take a month or so getting it fixed we just did it ourselves. Instead of putting stock parts back on it we put high dollar electronic ignition and the best cam gear on the distributor money could buy.The problem still occurring after the upgrades by our head mechanic. We sent it in from where we bought it. They sent it to A ""C""Rock to be repaired / warrantied. They fixed it by putting a new cam in it (as we told them it needed) but our new ignition was MISSING and carb was DIFFERENT. The wood screws left all over top of engine, ashes from smokers on top of the engine, in the engine compartment greasy hand prints, and the gas drain back line from fuel pump to carb BROKEN OFF. If fuel pump goes bad it will fill up the bottom of boat with gas. That's a BIG SAFETY HAZARD. The best part is I only work for the owner of this boat. I personally went to A ""C""Rock just a week after (not knowingly what had happened) and purchased a prop for my boat. I needed a distributor for my boat. I asked if they had any used ones, and their mechanic informed me they had a new just barely used one for sale for $300 and i asked to see it and they were glad to show it to me. Oddly it was the exact same ignition my boss put in his boat. Not knowing it they were trying sell me the one from my bosses boat. A month goes by and the boss has our head mechanic go tune and pull ignition and that was when the big discovery was made. We asked where his parts were. They said we cant store them forever. Only a week after the work was done they were trying to sell the parts they stole off the engine (that belong to my boss) to me just weeks after they finished the repairs. Did they forget to give the parts back?? NO they're lying, steeling, cheating and crooked. To steal parts off an engine of a customers they had already spent a few thousand dollars on, and then it fails. Then when they warranty the work they steal parts. What a joke! NOTE: ANYONE dealing with A ""C""Rock watch the parts you have on your boats, trailers, etc you may not be getting back what you sent in. more

I have been going to A Rock for years and have not had a problem. They have worked with me on every problem I have had on my boat. I have tried other repair places but have found that A Rock does the best work I have seen and they stand behind what they do. I know Scott to be one that stands behind his word and not a child. If he ever did something wrong on my boat, he would make that problem go away. When I go in and get my prop and skeg repaired on my boat, the work is so exceptionally well done. Hands down the best boat repairs. Thank you for your amazing work A Rock employees!! more

After Scott Fortuna (owner and so called ""Ace"" boat and prop mechanic) of A-Rock Propellers had my boat for several months past the date he promised it would be completed and ready to go, it still wasn't finished and not even close to being ready for the water. Finally, I decide enough was enough and went to pick up my boat and take it to another shop but Scott parked his shop forklift in front of my boat so I couldn't hitch it to my truck, forcing me to call the Salt Lake City police to his shop for help. When the officer arrived and reviewed the situation he made Scott remove his forklift so I could take my boat all the while Scott was crying like a little kid that had just gotten reprimanded and begging me for another chance to complete the job he promised in the first place. I even had to threaten him with placing both a notice with the Better Business Bureau and a complaint/claim with Utah State Consumer Affairs just to get him to agree to get the job done in a timely manner with a reasonable deadline from that point if I was even going to let him finish what he started; which I did unfortunately and to my disappointment as he did such an unprofessional and poor quality job. IN SHORT, THIS GUY LIED TO ME. So, Se La Ve... my mistake in choosing A-Rock Propellers and Scott Fortuna and his crew... I got screwed once by him and like an idiot I let myself get screwed a second time by him all in one fail swoop... but never again; I've learned my lesson about Scott Fortuna and A-Rock Propellers. more

We purchased a boat this summer that was plagued with problems that hadn't been disclosed by the previous owner. We had used A-Rock Propellers in the past for our previous boat and had always had a positive experience. Sooo ... off to A-Rock the new boat went. more

I have used A-Rock Propellers for a number of years now. I have used them to fixed the bottom of my outdrive on a bravo three on two different occasions the workmanship was second to none as you could not determine any flaw, the paint matched perfectly and did not peel off. I also like the fact that you can purchase a prop from the knowledgeable staff and if for some reason the pitch is wrong they will exchange it no questions asked until you have the right prop for your boat. Specifically I had a problem with a Baja that would cavitate when taking sharp corners and A-Rock put me into a four blade prop with the right pitch first time and I could not get the Baja to cavitate again. As an employee of A-ROCK PROPELLER and one who feels we go the extra mile to help everyone we can, I feel it very important to reply to this post. I believe as more information is presented it will make much better sense as to why this customers propeller was sold. To one who brings in their propeller for repair, you will see posted on the front counter you have 45 days to pick up your prop before it is to be claimed as property of A-ROCK PROPELLER due to the high amount of propellers that come in. Just as a side note as of today we have 6 customer propellers that have been here for 10-12 months and one that has been here for 18 months and they still are tagged and waiting for pickup. So you can see that we find it important for customers to get their items back. Returning to the negative review written, I personally called the customer multiple times and had left more than one message. Midway through last summer, after waiting 24 months+ and never hearing anything back from the individual through phone or personal contact, we sold the propeller. We strive for customer satisfaction and always will! more
