I fell completely in love with a house these people had listed on Craigslist. I called 4 times before I got a response. The first thing I asked was whether the house accepted cats. I explained that I have an 8 year old housetrained cat. The guy said the cat would be no problem. Next, I asked if we could set up a time to see the property. I work until 6pm and the guy was not willing to meet after that. He couldn't tell me any details about the property and told me to go look in the windows and let him know if I was still interested. I checked it out and loved it. After many more unreturned phone calls, I finally got in touch with the guy and was able to see the inside. We were going to meet the next business day to sign the lease. I spent the entire weekend packing and cleaning my current house so I could be ready to move in.
The day we were supposed to sign, I heard nothing from the guy about scheduling a time. When I was finally able to reach him, he was totally short with me and told me that he hadn't reached the landlord for approval. I had been actively looking at this property for 2 weeks now and had turned in my application a week prior. He didn't call back that night or the next morning. The next afternoon, I get a message on my cell. He says that it turns out the landlord does not accept cats (something I would think he would know ahead of time) and suggest we get rid of ours so we can move in. I was really upset. This was the first thing I had asked about the property. I called back to see if anything could be done and he was really short with me again but told me the landlord would talk to her husband and get back to me. Then I asked what other properties they had that were similar. He said, "Just check out the website, I have to go." He has not called since. Don't rent from these people and don't list your property with them. Lazy and unprofessional!
