Great prices!!! I am a happy customer since they are the only ones in San Diego that rent used quality cars @ super low prices. I rented a vehicle from them for one week and ended up keeping it 7 weeks for only 129.99 per week. I was happy with the compact car I got just needed it to go from point a to b and that was it. I compare prices before calling A Plus and the big companies wanted about $225.00 per week which is totally ridiculous & a rip-off! If your looking for a cheap car at a super low rate call A Plus & call Maria or Frank they are super cool & helpful!! more

They ripped me off! They took the car from me with out me knowing while I was at work and after 3 days and close to a thousand dollars later they returned the car with most of my belongings missing. I was going to take my thigns to storage after work and heirlooms to my friends safe. They never called to tell me they were taking the car. CROOKS! they went out of business in July and are operating illegally. Anyone w info or advice contact me. this hapened yesterday, Iam devastated. They knew I had lost a loved one and they robbed me a day after the funeral. I am hoping to get in contact with other victims from this bogus co. and take action together. more

CRIMINALS!\r \r CRIMINALS! SCAM ARTISTS! READ REVIEWS BEFORE RENTING!\r \r These guys are straight crooks. I needed a car ASAP because my daughter broke down in our car. Called the place and a very nice guy named Frank drove to my house, picked me up and was very nice. He should look for another job, he seemed like a good guy. I rented a wreck ( which was fine, it was last minute, rates were OK, a holiday weekend and I felt lucky to get a rental last minute at all). Frank told me to walk all around the vehicle and marl with X's any damage. There was a lot, it was 10 or 12 years old, again no problem as I was grateful to to be able to pick p my daughter. The car was on empty, I put in 20 bucks and when I got in to the car it smelled like cigarettes and booze,was filthy dirt, side mirror half hanging off, you get the picture. I was never told to mark the INTERIOR of the car. When I picked up my daughter and her friend they got in and said ""hey there are burns all over the back seat, nice car you rented"". The ashtray was full of ash, ashes flying all over the car when we opened the windows. I tried to return the car after one day and was told by Frank ( who was at the other location and said he rarely worked at the Leucadia location) that I could not return the car because it was Sunday and I ""committed"" to two days. True, he wrote on the contract ""2 day minimum"" so that's on me OK, again, fine. Frank took a $300.00 deposit plus 84.62 for the two day rental against my debit card, also charging me a $10.00 debit transaction fee (?). He also wrote on the contract $84.64 will pay from deposit"". Then I return the car. The douche bag who thinks he si cool dressing like someone half his age with a shi**y attitude the minute I said hello walks out to the car, gets inside, looks around, quickly looks around the outside, comes in to the office asks me if I have comprehensive insurance on my 1995 Honda Civic , I tell him no, he tells me that he is adding $14.95 a day for insurance stating that Frank should have done that when he rented me the car. OK. I mean the rental was returned and there no accidents and it is a little after the fact but I play by the rules and understood that if that is the policy, that is the policy, although REAL car rental companies give you the option to decline their insurance. I knew right then there was going to be trouble with this place. So today I get my online statement from B of A and sure enough. There is the agreed upon charge of 112 something ( including the 30.00 for the insurance) and another charge for $65.00. The reason? Cigarettes in the car!!!! THe damn thing was covered in ash and burn marks , ashtray full of ashes when I picked it up! That is probably why Frank did not tell me to go through the interior of the car and mark damage. My bank has credited the money back to my account and I have opened a claim and I have EVERY INTENTION of making our local Sheriff's aware. But as the banked told me? This is not fraud, it is a merchant dispute and they will investigate and get back to me. The B of A staffer that helped me got Frank on the line and he ended up hanging up during the call...hmm. I happen to be friends of the Calypso Restaurant owner who shares a parking lot with this guy and I will be curious what he has to say about these crooks. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE! TELL YOUR FRIENDS NOT TO!!!! Lucky for me? I work in Social Media and these guys just really blew it. I was forced to give them a star to post this review but if there were a minus option? What a joke of a place and WHAT CROOKS! Clunker cars that are not reliable and you can't take out of San Diego or LA area. So much for unlimited miles! They have zero knowledge of what their doing. Constantly on the phone with the owner because the people working there don't know how to answer any questions without asking. AVOID! more

if you're on this page you just need to read the headlines of the other reviews and you will have all the information you need, However, here's my experience with these crooks: I reserved the car for 10pm and pick it up after 2pm. They had 2 cars. I got the best one...a subraru wagon with 143,000 miles. No plates. The police officer that pull me over said it hadn't been registered since 2009. The brakes were bad and almost kill us. It had yellow marks on the window and I believe it had recently been purchased from an auction, The extremely ignorant and rude clerk wrote on the agreement it was due at 10am. I returned it 3 days laters at 10am and was charged for 4 days after I left.. The clerk refuse to discuss the charges and completely ignored me. A call to the main office proved even more disturbing... The place I was at was on India street but apparently the company is really in Encinitas. These folks are straight up gangsters. They rip you off intentionally. Do not give them your credit card. They should be Avoided at all cost.. I'm considering filing a small claims suit just for the principle of it but if I can alert just one unsuspecting victim I will be satisfied. more

My husband reserved a car at A+ because of their low rates. When he arrived to pick up the car, he was asked to provide proof of insurance or purchase insurance from A+. He declined, deciding that he'd rather rent elsewhere. The next day he was charged over $30 as a cancellation fee. When I saw the charge and called, I was told that it was company policy to charge this fee if the reservation was not cancelled 48 hours in advance. The clerk continued to defend the company's position so continuously that I was unable to ask any further questions. I was then put on hold and disconnected about 10 minutes later. Subsequent calls were not answered. more

I had a nice experience with A Plus Truck & Car Rentals and its employees. I was in need of a vehicle for one month all the big companies like: Enterprise, Hertz, & Budget are a total rip-off. They wanted $850.00 for one month for a 2 door hatchback. I did a little research and found A Plus Truck , they had cars from $350.00 a month. I decided to go and look at the vehicle because it was too good to be true and it was true. I rented a 2006, 4 door Chevy Aveo (nice & clean), I was happy ! I did not experience any bad customer service and my deposit was intact. Of course I returned the car in the same conditions it was given to me! I also had a nightmare experience with this place. I was already overcharged on my credit card without my consent. I am now worried about the deposit amount they reserved on the card ? I knew it seemed wrong , but they double talk and bully you into leaving multiple authorizations. The cars are not maintained correctly. I had to be given a completely inappropriate replacement due to poor mechanical issues. The replacement was seriously dangerous ! It ruined the trip I had so carefully planned. These people are scammers and this place should be shut down. more

SCAM... I completely agree with you! they also ripped me off. They dont pay deposit back without any real reosan.they re doing same thing to everyone.It was my biggest mistake..Even you want to object it you can not find a responsible person.. NEVER RENT A CAR FROM A PLUS..... !!!!!! more

renting a vehicle at this place was my worst nightmare. No one can give you a straight answer..they need to email the owner. No one with any say is at the tiny kiosk in downtown San Diego. No where on the contract does it say if you are late bringing the car back they charge you a full day. I was 30 minutes late due to traffic. I was charged an extra $102.86. Your credit card is not safe with them, they will charge you without consulting you.The truck I rented was dented, the radio barely worked, mirror would not stay up, gas gauge faulty and the windshield wipers were falling apart.On top of that they tried to say I damaged the vehicle when it was clearly marked by their own people on the contract. I RECENTLY RENTED A CAR FROM THIS PLACE AND I DONT HAVE A CREDIT CARD SO I HAD TO PUT CASH DEPOSIT OF 290.00 AND WAS TOLD I WOULD RECIEVE A CHECK AFTER I RETURNED THE RENTAL FOR THE CASH DEPOSIT I MADE.ITS BEEN A WEEK AND NO CHECK..........NOW WHAT DO I DO? Here is what happens: First, A Plus offers an extremely low price (planning on getting money out of you in other ways). Watching every dime in this economy they 'looked' like the best deal. THEY WILL SEND YOU A DEMAND LETTER INFORMING YOU THAT THE CAR WAS DAMAGED. The scam likely works well with most people. If you would ask if A Plus documented the damage to the car before and after you rented it. THEY DON'T. I even asked about it when I picked it up and dropped it off. They insisted there was no need. Obviously, they don't want it documented, so they can then scare you into believing there was damage done to the car. I highly recommend never renting from them. This was obviously a calculated scam.
