I searched the majority of the gun shops in eastern VA and A&P Arms was the only shop who had the product I was looking for. The Hampton shop is small in size, but large in selection. more

I've been to A&P arms several times. Despite having a large staff the workers seemed overwhelmed with the sheer volume of customers. Having to wait for assistance was the only detractor from my experience there though. The staff I talked to genuinely seemed informed about the products, were friendly and gave me good advice. The person that helped me pick out my 1911 even gave me a card for a person who makes custom gun leather rather than trying to sell me a generic holster from their store. It's a great store if you don't mind waiting. Pros: Excellent service, good variety of firearms and supplies. Cons: Extremely busy/crowded. more

I agree with the previous notion of the gentlmen behind the counter having horrible attitudes. I would never recommend anyone to this shop. more

Read the reviews, I have spent alot of time in this store,I have also purchased a few guns from this store. I notice that the staff is very strict on requirements to purchase a firearm. Some may believe that it is rude when they do not meet the legal requirements to purchase a firearm. I like the fact that this store is strict on there requirements to buy a gun. I believe that if more gun stores would practice this. guns would not keep ending up in hands that they should not. I do not think the employees are rude, they are simply doing what the laws require them to do. more

I am new to the whole gun buying community and came here a several months back to buy a new rifle. The staff offered me several thoughts and ideas on what I was looking for. Because of the all the help they provided me, this has brought me back several times in making my new purchases. Plus the layaway plan is great.... THANKS ! ! ! I'll second the bad attitude. I felt as if I was being a nuissance just by asking questions. It was like they had something better to do than to be answering my questions about one of their guns I wanted to purchase. So I left, empty handed. I've bought at least 3 handguns from Ap Arms. Very strange place. Lots of people behind counter but not a great sales environment. You have to seem agitated or desperate to get service. After you decide to buy is only because you you made up your own mind. Not great at all especially if you're a first time buyer. If you have to. Research first ..then at least you'll have a good idea about products before actually shopping Pros: good selection Cons: staff wack more

This gun shop is terrible! Every time I go into A & P Arms in Hampton, I leave with a bad taste in my mouth. The gentlemen behind the counter have terrible attitudes, and act as if you are bothering them by coming into the shop. As a gun enthusiest, I like to go into a gun store and look at and hold a few weapons while i am there. However, at A&P I feel that, if I dont have at least $600 dollars bulging out of my back pocket, then they do not even what to help me out. Now, dont get me wrong, they do have a nice sized collection, and pretty good prices. But to tell you honestly, I would rather research on the internet first and go somewhere else and pay a little more for service with a smile.
