Let me start by saying I am very disturbed by the comments I just read being the Manager of the Lynnhaven location now and being under new ownership and management for a while now and newly staffed with knowledgeable and courteous people I hope I can convince those that have been disappointed to give us one more chance. We have completed the construction on the building and are striving to regain a place in the hearts of the firearms enthusiasts in the area. more

We have been under new ownership and management for going on a year now. Great selection of firearms and accessories also, a fully functioning range 18 lanes the only indoor rifle range in town. Come see us for all your gun needs or just to say hi. more

Do not go here!!!! 5/8/2012

I am only giving a one star because this site makes you otherwise it would be zero stars. The worst experience I have had at a shooting range. The employees are very rude and yell at you. How unprofessional and slightly intimidating . I was never advised of the rules but was yelled at and referred to as a stupid for not knowing. Was charged for ammo in advance but was unable to use. They refused to refund unused ammo. We ( group of 4) were not asked for identification and sold ammo. Only one of us was over 21. Refused to let me speak to owner about my concerns. Would not go back here again or refer this range to anyone. more

Horrible Service 3/15/2012

I have been around guns all my life. Growing up on the farm, serving 20 years in the military, having a husband and son who love to shoot. I don't shoot as often as they do - but I am not too shabby and can handle my own when it comes to guns. Recently my husband bought me a new .38 revolver and we decided to go to the range to shoot it. Boy was that a mistake. Never have I been met with anything less than professionalism and outstanding customer service - until I entered the A&P Arms in Lynnhaven. The young man behind the counter was rude and wasn't interested in helping anyone at all. My husband and I needed Range Safety Cards, as did one other young man who happen to be there at the same time. I have qualified on many different ranges over the years - but never was I treated like this. Believe me, I am all about safety. I do understand the importance of knowing the rules at the gun range. But the list of rules provided and the on the spot question and answer period are a joke. First they hand you a list of rules and regulations to read and sign. Then out of nowhere comes (as one gentleman mentioned earlier) a verbal battery of questions. He didn't even look at you when he asked - just stared off into space. If you said you didn't know - he would then stare at you, as if to say why are you wasting my time. Had I known that there would be a verbal assault of questions I would have studied a few days before attempting to shoot there. I have renewed my range safety card countless times and was never ""grilled"" with an oral exam or treated so poorly I will never go back and I would not recommend it to anyone who is interested in shooting. I recommend you take your business elsewhere. more

Strict, but Safe 3/10/2012

For my first experience with them everything was just great. I went there to shoot my new Kel Tec KSG and upon arrival I thought ""Man this place is really strict"", but then I right away realized it was all about safety of the staff and people shooting there. Which in my eyes, the safer the better. I even had problems caused by the original lubrication on my KSG, Curtis (one of the staff members) took his time and helped me break it down for the first time right there on the spot. After that it fired perfectly the rest of the night. The biggest misconception with this place is that there is too many rules, but it really comes down to people wanting to hear the truth about safe firearm practices. I would like to thanks Curtis and all of the staff there for making my wife and I night there an enjoyable experience. more

Excellent buying experience 3/3/2012

Purchased a pistol tonight from Kurt. Though near closing time he was patient and courteous with each of our many questions and showed us other options as well. He showed us how to take apart and clean the gun, went over all safety measures, watched us handle the gun and made appropriate and needed suggestions. He assured us we would always be well taken care of in the shop and range at A&P. i believe him. Big difference in how we were treated here compared to another larger store. Could not be more pleased. Howard F. more

friendly and helpful 2/1/2012

Just a novice shooter who asks alot of questions. I've bought a range pass last mar. A grt investment because i shoot twice per week! I have always rec'd excellent service from all the staff. They all seem to have an good grasp of each gun they sell. They always seem to help each customer and ans all the necessary ques. They seem to run a good shooting range. It's clean, well managed, they follow all the safty rules, and r very helpful if u have a problem, i.e. gun jam! I recently had a ""squibber""(an unloaded cart.) my new cz jammed and stuck tight. I had to call ""Trent"" who made the fix and inspected the condition ofthe barrel. Everything was ok. I am comfortable at A&P!!!! Thanks, Steadyhnd more

Very Helpful 12/11/2011

I'm not one for writing a review good or bad so this is a first for me. I've been taking my wife to A & P for the last several months to get acquainted with shooting a pistol. Finally comfortable in her ability to safely handle a gun we decided to make a purchase. Not knowing much about guns, Curtis (6'10"" can't miss him), was extremely helpful in helping us make a decision. He not only took the time to explain the in and outs of several pistols he even took us back into the gun range to allow my wife and I to test fire a couple of rounds to get the feel for the weapon. Now being so new to this myself I'm sure we asked some elementary questions and never once did he act like we were taking up his time or he had better things to do. After several test fires we made the purchase of a very nice pistol and I will definitely go back there and will seek out the advice of Curtis on any other weapon I wish to purchase. more

Don't buy here...just shoot. 9/5/2011

I'm sorry to be negative....normally I see the good in everything. But I have made it a point to make an account here just to tell everyone how rude, and arrogant these people are. First off they act like they are doing you a favor by you spending your hard earned money there. I was about to spend a little over a thousand dollars today. I do not ever expect to have a red carpet treatment or anything....but they are NOT helpful in anyway. I don't know who these people think they are....but they act as if they are gods or something. There is this one bit*h there called Victoria, and another fat white bald guy... trust me...don't do business with them...you'll see. I'm thinking about going to Bob's in Norfolk...I don't know about that store yet. However...if you happen to live near the area, I would only go to A&P just for the range....I will NEVER buy a thing from there...they lost a good client. more

BEST EVER 6/12/2011

One of the best places i have ever been. I have been to bob's in norfolk and found fault, there is no rifle range. I have been to superior in virginia beach, they're just too bland. A&P has great employees. Every single one of them has a basic knowledge of each gun type and more than one specialty (revolver, pistol, bolt action rifle, &more). I cannot say that all employees are so great but i can say that Christian, Jon (customer service), Victoria (semi-auto), Trent (rifle), and Curtis (all around) are the most knowledgeable gun lovers I know. Oh and there is one more guy that normally runs the range that is great although i cant remember his name. If you dont like A&P you should just stop shooting altogether. more

The Salesman are horrible, go to Superior Pawn 4/4/2011

The customer service is a joke. After leaving the shooting range, I stood at the counter for at least 20 minutes with out anyone trying to help me. I've been here before, I knew that most of the employees are dicks. So I wasn't too surprised that nothing changed. The only person that was helpful was the Asian guy running the shooting bays. The 7 foot black dude still sucks. He walked by me numerous times and not once offered his service. I was trying to purchase a glock 27, but hey, I guess they didn't want my $400. Then the fat bald white dude, who swears he was an officer back in the day (but looking at his fat gut and slobby appearance he must of been a parking meter officer). This dude is a complete joke. He'd rather try and impress women who come to look at pistols with his ex-police stories and how well he can shoot. Who cares. People are trying to give you their hard earn money, not trying to hear you life story. Get real fat man. The only one that is cool there is Christian. I heard the fat bald dude call him a duesh yesterday, of course Christian was on his day off so he wasn't there. If he was, I'm sure the fat bald dude would have kept his mouth shut. Either way, if you want to purchase a pistol go to Superior Pawn. The range sucks, but the customer service is waaaaay better. more

Amazing customer service! 3/3/2011

We dropped by to look for a gun for my husband and had such a good experience that we came back for one for me the next day. The staff members were all very helpful in directing us to what would be the best product for us. I was even able to try their rental version of the gun I liked before I bought it. We were also looking for an item they did not have and they referred us to a local store that did have it. Good customer service is hard to find these days and they really impressed us, not to mention that their prices were much better than other places we searched. more

Professional Staff and Great Customer Service 2/17/2010

Having been stationed overseas for the majority of my military career, it has been impossible to purchase any firearms and learn the regulations governing each individual state to keep oneself from mistakenly breaking the law. I finally came across A & P Arms when a friend told me about their shooting range. The staff answered every single question I had concerning gear, guns, laws and trust me, I ask a lot of questions. Safety is stressed at all times on the range and the rules and regulations are fair. The atmosphere lends itself well to shooting without any distractions. The range is clean and well maintained. They also have staff members randomly check the ranges from time to time to make sure that all regulations are followed. If at any time they see someone not following the rules and regulations they will be immediately pulled from the range. Recently I purchased a LWRC International M6A3 rifle from them with a 5 day turn around. I asked about 2 hours worth of questions and got answers from a gentleman that owns 4 LWRC rifles himself. Needless to say I didn't need to check his credentials to understand that he knew exactly what he was talking about. I walked away impressed by how knowledgeable the staff is and how patient they can be to someone such as myself that can bring a legal notepad worth of questions to be answered. I have been to several different Firearm stores and Shooting ranges and A & P Arms won me over with their knowledgeable staff and great customer service. more
