DO NOT USE!!! UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY $$$. I typically fix most of my own household items. When my refrigerator broke, feeling crunched for time, I decided to call A&P. The tech was very nice and helpful. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the office manager. The original diagnosis from the tech only uncovered one issue. I bought the part (30% higher than other local sources) and installed it myself as it only took two screws and 3 connectors (SIMPLE). Unfortunately it didn't fix the issue. I called the office and they said the tech would come out and do another diagnosis. He identified another issue. I went to the office to pick up the part and they tried to collect another diagnosis fee. I had already paid $79.99. After a confrontation she waved the fee and I bought the part (again at a higher price, didn't realize this until later). Installed and still have the original problem. I'm out $250 and don't have a working fridge. I will NOT call them again! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 2/19/2013

My washing machine stopped working. It would not drain nor would it spin. I called A and P Appliance because a year ago when the handle of my dryer broke off, an appliance sales man recomended them to me. He was right because they had the handles in stock and just about any other part that I would need. No waiting, and no special ordering. Great!\r So, when my washer machine was in need of repair A and P Appliance was the first on my mind to call. Really glad I kept their business card.\r It was easy to make an appointment, service man, named Mike, came on time, understood the problem right away, had the part on his truck, and was done in less than a half hour; very professional. The price for the part and the service call was reasonable. Golly gee wow, it doesn't get better than this! Back to Laundry...\r One happy customer. more

These people are extremely unreliable, 1/30/2012

These people are extremely unreliable, incompetent, and they have a tendency to lie. Don't use them! I had them to fix my kitchen counter downdraft ventilation fan. Their technician came in twice without being able to diagnose the problem. The second time he came, this guy inserted a screwdriver between the fan cover and the counter, scraping around and removing a portion of the rubber seal. He then said the rubber seal was the problem and he would order a new one to replace it. He then left with the job undone. After more than 20 days passed without hearing from them, I called again. But they told me they had done all things they can do and they did not want to do this job anymore. But what about the rubber seal? They denied they had removed it. It was an outright lie! I did some research by calling the manufacturer of my ventilation system. It turns out the thing damaged by the technician with his screwdriver is a silicone gasket, which was an integral part of the chimney assembly. Now, I have to replace the whole chimney assembly which will cost $300! I regret I used their service. Do yourself a favor. Never use them. Run away as quickly as you can! more

Quick and Efficient Service 9/1/2011

Our refrigerator went out and although it was relatively new I figured we should start looking for a new one. Decided to find a repair service first and called A&P. They made an appointment for that afternoon and they came when they said they would. It took the repairman about ten minutes to find a failed relay which he had on his truck. He waited while we vacuumed out behind the refrigerator while it was out and was on his way in less than an hour. And we didn't have to buy a new refrigerator. We were very satisfied and would recommend them to anyone. more

I would not recommend doing business with A & P 1/6/2011

I decided to give a&p a try figuring what they couldn't offer in price they could probably deliver in customer service. I decided to go this route because returning things online can really be a hassle, and with a&p less then 10 minutes away I decided to give it a try. So I payed the $48.50 premium instead of the $36 online price (s&h included) and rolled the dice. Let me say this, in terms of customer service it couldn't have been worse. It turns out the part I had bought was incorrect, but because I had plugged it in to see if it fit the application a&p would not return it for me. Wouldn't even take it back me offering to pay a 15% restocking fee. Forget these guys, you can tell a person or a business' true character when a problem arises, and i'm afraid a&p didn't pass the test. more

I have had a few experiences purchasing parts and getting service from A&P. We also found they are more than just service. My wife also I purchased a dish washer from them. We got a rockin deal. Better then anywere else in town (Best Buy, Sears, etc). Delivery was on time the technician was fast and answered all my questions. They also took my old washer to dishwasher heaven for me. I will call them again for service and new appliances.\r Thanks!! Pros: On time affordable honest more

Horrible Service/Horrible Customer Service Skills 12/30/2009

We prefer to do business with locally owned companies whenever possible, but had we read the reviews here on Citysearch we would have NEVER considered hiring this company. The repairman came out to diagnose the problem, which was a very common one for our washer, and brought NO PARTS with him. Never before have we seen an appliance repair technician so ill-prepared. Since they neglected to bring parts with them, they tell us they need to come back the next day at 4pm. The next day around 2pm they call to inform us they need to reschedule for 4pm the following day because it's snowing. The following day they call and want to come early, and we agree to an earlier time. Shortly thereafter, after we've already made other arrangements for the time prior to their expected arrival, they call us and tell us they want to come within the next 20 minutes OR THEY WILL HAVE TO RESCHEDULE US FOR ANOTHER DAY! Do they not understand that customers have a life and he cusotmer's time is valuable too? I more

Disappointed 6/30/2008

We had a dryer repaired for a thermal fuse problem. The repairman recommended we have the vents cleaned, but also made no indication that we shouldn't use the dryer. We made sure the vents were not blocked, but the same problem occurred just a couple of days later. They came out a week or so later and repaired the same problem. They took like $10 off and acted like they did us a favor. The repairman indicated that since we hadn't contacted their vent cleaning guy that it was entirely our fault and that their repair work or part didn't have anything to do with it. They also charged us $70.00 to "diagnose" the same problem a week later. ... Would not recommend this business more

not recommended for repairs 6/30/2008

My dryer's thermal fuse went out. They charged $70 just to diagnose the problem. The fuse blew again less than 1 week later, so I called them and they charged me another $70 to ""re-diagnose"" the same problem. I was told that it was the dryer vents, but of course they wouldn't even consider the possibility that it was a faulty thermal fuse that they replaced. $215 for a thermal fuse! I love being ripped off! more

Won't work with you on missed appointment 11/5/2007

Will not work with you on a missed appointment after-the-fact, even if it is the first missed appointment. You will still incur a $25 charge. Not outside the norm for the industry, but there are other establishments who will waive such a fee. more
