Best Brunch in Charleston 6/22/2008

AC's Brunch is amazing- the menu looks as if 10 guys got together and decided to create ""the perfect brunch menu"". They have come up with a brilliant way of making French toast- where they slice a blueberry muffin and then batter and pan fry it. It is delectable! They also have ""The Breakfast Club"", which is a Belgium waffle layered with eggs, bacon and cheese with a side of syrup to dip it in. It is huge; bring a friend to help you if you plan on ordering it. The other charm to the menu is AC's panache for slamming a lot of their menu items with sausage gravy. Such as their ""Drive Thru"", which is their version of a Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit- it is served open-faced and topped with a river of their delicious gravy. Bring a defibulator if you decide to order this treat. Above all, the Bloody Mary's are just spicy enough and the perfect way to begin a lazy Sunday day. The atmosphere is grungy, with sticky tables, deteriorating tile floors, the music is groovy and the lighting is dark and dim (perfect for those with a mild hangover). I enjoyed it immensely. In Conclusion: go there when you are extremely hungry and you will leave wondering if you will ever want another meal again. Pros: The best brunch food you will ever have!!!!!!! Music is awesome too. Cons: Self-serve......... but worth it! more

great hamburgers 9/26/2005

Visit Charleston frequently and just love this bar, but things have changed a bit since last reviewed. The bar now has to close at 2am due to Charleston's new (bad) law and the bar now has great food (the burgers were amazing). Same funky crowd and one of the only places in town where we find good pool tables. The bartender's are still the best in town. Pros: great food, inexpensive, good music Cons: crowded on weekends more

Best 'Pure' Bar In Charleston 6/28/2002

A.C.'s is hands down the best place to drink in Charleston. Equal amounts old school 'belly-up' bar and meeting place, it attracts a regular group of locals (varying types, but mostly blue-collar, artsy, and eclectic) and college students. Cheap beer, good happy hour prices and late night hours (usually open 'til sunrise - at least on Friday nights) make it a great place to start and end your night out. Oh yeah, has the absolute BEST bartenders in town. Pros: Great bartenders, Inexpensive, Cool atmosphere Cons: Non-existent food, Can get crowded, Smokey at times more
