In response to the review from 2006, things have improved. They have a new maintenance guy who seems to care. They have new TVs but they aren't set up right (all stretched wide 480p) and yes you are stuck with 3 unchangeable channels. Membership $$ varies a lot, best time to join is the last days of a month when they are trying to get their numbers up. Some members pay $99 a year (after an initiation fee), others pay $45 a month (without a fee). The bad thing about some of the cheap memberships is getting sociopathic rough kids who don't care about others and trash the place. Weights aren't put back and garbage sits on the floor for a day or two. The locker rooms aren't cleaned well or often enough. The staff is friendly, the clientele is very mixed. Music varies too much so bring your ipod, sound system is tinny with irritating prerecorded announcements every 5 minutes. Good amenities for the price: swim, basketball, spinning, aerobics, sauna, steam, tub. Skip their 'pro shop' and walk across the street to the mall. Overall good energy most of the time. No musclehead trainers and few musclehead members, good or bad depending on your experience. Bottom line, it's a good deal if you get the $99 renewal, it's overpriced if you pay more than $25 a month.
Pros: across from Alderwood Mall, good amenities, good energy most of the time
Cons: can't change the 3 TV channels, bad sound system, dirty locker rooms
