17th Street Cafe 7/4/2006

17th Street Cafe was one of the first restaurants I tried when I moved to the Pittsburgh area and it remains one of my favorites. The menu has a great variety, but I tend to always go with the special of the night! It has a great atmosphere and friendly servers! Cons: small more

Can't be beat! 7/4/2006

The 17th Street Cafe offers delicious food, superb service, and a terrific atmosphere! If you haven't been there yet, make it the next restaurant you visit in the 'Burgh! Pros: Great night out in the Southside! Cons: Go on a weeknight to avoid the crowd! more

Best intimate atmosphere 7/4/2006

I think this is one of the most romantic, intimate restaurants in the city. It has some very unique dishes on its menu, which are all delicious. It also has a very cozy bar with friendly bar tenders. It is never too crowded, but always busy. The little back room is perfect for your romantic dinner for two. You can easily find parking on one of the side streets close to the restaurant. The chef and owner is a very nice man! The interior is not pretentious, but is done in very beautiful, sophisticated colors. Pros: Easy to find parking, great food, wonderfully comfortable atmosphere Cons: None ! more

17th St. Cafe is one of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh. We frequently have our ""girl's night out"" there. The atmosphere is great and the food is wonderful. We have always had excellent service. It's fun when the chef comes out to talk. I would highly recommend eating here!!! more

Great atmosphere and wonderful food 7/4/2006

I visited the 17th Street Cafe for the first time 2 weeks ago. I had always heard great things about it but had never made it down to try it out for myself. We chose the outdoor seating which was wonderful since it's on a side street without constant traffic and noise. The food we had was delicious and lived up to all my expectations. I can't wait to go back and can definitely see myself making this a regular stop! Pros: Delicious food, great atmosphere more

17th Street Cafe? Very Nice! 7/4/2006

Although I've dined at the 17th Street cafe only a dozen times over the years it's been in business, I've always found it to be a wonderful experience and certainly one of the best ""value for your money"" places in Pittsburgh. The food generally falls into the ""Italian"" cusine catagory, but they have several delicious ""Americana"" dishes and experiment with other cusines with near flawless execution. During the Oktoberfest season I found their featured German menu to be as tasty and authentic as I've ever had. My favorite Italian pasta dish is their spicy Sicilian Pasta Diavlo. They also have a nice lunch menu and great sandwiches. The service is great (watchful, but not pesky) and the staff are very friendly. Pros: Ambience, Food, Service more

exceptional restaurant with great service 7/4/2006

the 17th St. Cafe is one of the best dining destinations on the south side. this is one of the few places on carson st. where you get exemplary service, and always enjoy a great meal which you can easily notice is made by hand and not from some frozen or processed package like many chain restaurants do. This is the place to be if you want to be if you want to have a relaxing, welcoming, and well above-average dinner out regardless of who you bring with you. Pros: service, food Cons: parking more

Best Italian, best ambiance, friendly, real people! 7/4/2006

Each time I go to 17th Street Cafe, I'm more impressed with the personal touch than the time before. more

Great service, friendly chef 7/3/2006

This is one of my favorite lunch time spots. The chef comes and asks how you like your food. The service is all great and quick. Food is excellent and prices are great. Pros: friendly personal service more

Great for dinner before City Theatre. Park once and fuggedaboudit. 7/3/2006

Gotta love that bisque! The rest of the menu is tops, too. Love it for special occasions and the family-like staff that is attentive without being intrusive. One of my favorite spots in the city! Pros: great food Cons: too many people already know about it! more

best Dinners and great atmosphere 7/3/2006

The 17th Street Cafe is our favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh. We have taken several freinds there and also tell any out of towners to check it out. One of our favorite meals is the pecan crusted tilapia. Plus the service has always been good, and the atmosphere is great. Pros: Great dinners, great service Cons: parking more

If you want a great meal with great service go here!!!! 7/3/2006

I have been going to 17th street for years now and have never had anything bad!!! The food is delicious and always something new to try. The service is just about the best I've had in the city with friendly and attentive waitstaff and don't forget about the martinis!! Pros: great food and even better service Cons: parking more

By far the best port chop you will ever enjoy. 7/3/2006

The 17th Street Cafe is a well kept secret. Some of the best food in the city in a relaxing and comfortable setting. Everyone we have shared this ""secret"" with loves it. The biggest problem is the process of elimination to decide what to eat from the wonderful and extensive menu. Do I like the fried zucchini or the night's flatbread choice more for an appetizer? If only I had one more stomach! Pros: the food, the food, the food!! Cons: no reservations more
