I needed a physical before starting med school and since I'm going to be a DO, I wanted to go to one and maybe talk a bit during the exam. When he found that out, he told me that I was foolish for wanting to go into medicine, especially primary care. Told me that if he had to do it over, he would have gone into dentistry because "that's where the real money is". I left feeling like I was making the worst mistake of my life! Luckily, he's the outlier; I now know tons of DOs who are great at their jobs and love them to boot. I'm just disappointed that there are people like him out there who give the DO profession a bad name. Find a different doctor; this one hates his life and he takes it out on his patients.
