Review content:
Wow, where should I start? During my initial visit, the doctor told me he needed to do an upper endoscopy and colonoscopy to determine the diagnosis. I was immediately booked for this outpatient procedure - it went smoothly without any problems.
However, when the test results can back with some abnormalities, the doctor refused to see me for a follow-up visit - even to discuss a potentially life changing diagnosis. He failed to follow-up with additional testing and failed to review my medical records from other physicians.
By now, my symptoms were getting more severe. I changed treatment based on their diagnosis and was not improving. But, the doctor refused to see me for another 4-6 weeks!! The lack of compassion and empathy was astounding.
Seeking a second opinion, I made an appointment with another GI doctor (at a different facility). The new doctor took time (35-40 minutes) to listen to me. He reassured me that the initial diagnosis was wrong and wondered why the Elms Doctor performed an upper endoscopy given my symptoms. I was placed on a different treatment and got better within a few days.
If the first doctor (at Elms) had taken time to talk to me, I believe my symptoms would have resolved sooner. If the Elms doctor had any compassion or empathy, I would have understood if a misdiagnosis was made - doctors, like everyone else, make mistakes. And, I would have left it as a simple mistake if not for his total disregard for patient care.
I got the impression that they profit immensely from doing procedures (after all, they have a giant endoscopy center). But, once the procedure was done, it was no longer profitable to see me (the post operative care is factored into the procedure cost) and take valuable physician time.
I have tried to restrain my anger and disgust with this pIace, but thinking about my experience again makes me absolutely sick. I would give them zero stars if I could.
I hope you find this information helpful. You would be best to seek another facility for your digestive care.
Pros: none
Cons: misdiagnosed, no empathy, no communication
