Review content:
My boyfriend and I visited Sweet Devil Moon upon the recommendation of my roommate, who has lived in Atlanta forever. We stopped in on a Friday evening, a bit earlier than the usual dinner crowd. My roommate has good taste, so I anticipated an excellent meal. However, I was sorely disappointed. First of all, the service was 'chill.' A little too 'chill.' In fact, it was downright cold! Oh, our server was nice enough, but we waited FOREVER for her to bring us our second round of drinks. The place was empty, so I don't know why this was the case. We ordered 4 different small plates, all of them sounding delicious. However, the only thing I found remotely good was the black bean hummus. And, it's pretty hard to mush up black beans with lime, garlic and oil and have it turn out badly. The seafood paella was salty yellow rice with frozen chewy, rubbery calamari. I've been to Spain. This isn't even CLOSE to paella. The third plate was some kind of beef kabob, good flavor, but very tough meat. Our last plate didn't come until we had finished all of these and our drinks, and was supposed to be a smoked salmon and shrimp taco. The smoked salmon was fine, nothing extraordinary, but it was supposed to be wrapped in prociutto. The 'prociutto' was very tough, chewy thick ham. This isn't prociutto, not even close. Although, the presentation of this last plate, and all the plates actually was impressive. That's why this one took so long; it was an intricate piling of the tacos with shrimp shooting out in several directions. Pretty, disappointing. My mojito looked great with fresh mint throughout, but was heavy on the lime (gave me a stomache ache). Great location, great atmosphere, but if you come here, drink something out of a bottle and try some of the dessert instead of the regular food; my roommate says most of the desserts are homemade. Pros: Location, atmosphere Cons: Food and Drinks
