I had a pressure vacuum seal on a sprinkler system blow. Because of the reviews on Yelp, I called Mr. Rooter and spoke to Scott, a project manager. To their credit, they were on the job in a matter of hours. They charged me $429 plus tax for the job, what they said they would charge me. Because of an associated $400 water bill, I pleaded with them to reduce their costs. No go.
I read about another place called Good Guy Plumbing, just to see what he normally charges. $125 plus $50 in parts.
Look, I hate feeling like I've been screwed. And I can't help but feel screwed. Mr. Rooter seems to be over charging for the services. Did I have any issue with their service? No. They were very professional. But at twice the price of someone with great reviews, I think you're better off checking out the competition before going with Mr. Rooter at least so that you have some comparison.
