Review content:
I know the difference between OK, good, and excellent meat. Freddy's has the later. I don't go to this good old fashioned restaurant and expect it to be a downtown Chicago ambiance but a great neighborhood (Hessville) eatery. I have to respond to the goofs who gave this place one star. I think they have some personal ax to grind. I've been there quite a lot and I don't know who the hell "Rick" is and why I should care. That said I had the "Lake" perch on a Friday and it is an improvement over ocean perch. It is subtle tasting and not fishy like the ocean perch. Most people should know this. I have worked in restaurants before. I know it is a sin to have a well done prime steak, you have to be a kook to want it so. The cooks will cook it well and then get criticized because it's called tough and have it sent back. I also know that it's hard to tell when the bar will fill up because sometimes it's quiet and sometimes it... just fills up you can't really tell. I love the loaf of bread and roasted garlic that comes with the dinner. I've had good luck with the ribs and prime rib too. The place on a Friday or Saturday will have live entertainment sometimes and it can be fun. It's better than a TV in your ear like most places have. It's not fancy. It's just an old fashioned neighborhood steak house that's a cut above the rest in that area. I'm getting hungry right now.
