Review content:
I have been a customer of Peterson-Webner Bakery for over 50 years. Originally located on Division Street in Chicago, moving on to Addison and finally to Elmhurst. Keeping it in the family was the best business move Ted Webner made. High quality and friendly personnel is traditionally what the Webner Family can take pride in. The Webner Family was and still is a part of our family's history.
My grandpa had a little butcher shop and grocery store next door to Peterson-Webner Bakery in Chicago. As a child I would go into "Uncle Ted's Bakery" and have the most delicious cookies a child could imagine. There was always a friendly face with a warm smile to encourage me to enjoy these freshly baked creations...and what a variety I had to choose from. Through the years this was the ONLY bakery that existed in my eyes.
As time went on, if there was a need for something special to celebrate, there was one item that was tops on the party menu....Danish Layer Cake by Peterson-Webner. Even after moving to Wisconsin, I would still find my way back to Elmhurst to pick up this indescribable dessert. Amazingly, my better half's family was also a member of the Peterson-Webner fan club. My family traditions carried on to my adult life traditions. We moved out to Arizona in 2004 and I thought I would never be able to enjoy this childhood favorite, young adult favorite, and current favorite again....I lost my John recently and while planning the meal for his celebration of life, as always, the first item put on the menu was Peterson-Webner's Danish Layer Cake. I will be returning to Illinois to pick up my John's favorite dessert to share with all our friends at this event. Thank you Peterson-Webner for over 50 years of happy memories in my lifetime.
