Peterson Webner's Bakery 2/6/2017

I remember this bakery when it was located at 6200 West North Avenue in Chicago.. I lived across North Avenue in Oak Park and would go every Saturday morning to this bakery to get limpa, swedish coffee cakes (both round and oblong) and bulla (sp?). It was always very crowded and you waited with the others (no numbering system then). I am 84 years old now but have great memories. Anyone else remember this location?? more

Peterson-Webner & Pastries Plus 12/26/2015

Like many others I grew up on Danish Layer Cake from Petersen-Webner bakery. My mom followed them to each location. I have searched other Danish bakeries for that cake and none compare. Pastries Plus does not make the same cake. If anyone knows if the cake is still made the same, I will travel far and wide to get it. more

Peterson-Webner Bakery 8/29/2009

My family grew up with the Peterson-Webner Bakery. Their Danish Layer cake was the treat of our family. Many fans would love to see the bakery reopen. Does anyone have any news or have a close recipe to this special cake? Sue more

The perfect Danish Bakery 12/29/2008

My fathers parents were from Denmark and I grew up on Danish layer cake and Kringle coffee cake, treats at every celebration. The fact that people have followed this bakery from Division St in Chicago, to Addison, and now Elmhurst is testamony to it's quality products. It is the ONLY true Danish Bakery in the Chicagoland area. more

Whatever became of Peterson-Webner (Patries Plus) 8/16/2007

Pastries Plus was an excellent place to go for cakes. They never disappointed us in the products they made for us. I really enjoyed their convenient location across the street from the Metra station in Elmhurst. Unfortunately, they closed for July 4 (2007) vacation, and never re-opened. Have or are they going to set up shop again? more

The love of a child never ends...Peterson-Webner Bakery, My Favorite 5/22/2006

I have been a customer of Peterson-Webner Bakery for over 50 years. Originally located on Division Street in Chicago, moving on to Addison and finally to Elmhurst. Keeping it in the family was the best business move Ted Webner made. High quality and friendly personnel is traditionally what the Webner Family can take pride in. The Webner Family was and still is a part of our family's history. My grandpa had a little butcher shop and grocery store next door to Peterson-Webner Bakery in Chicago. As a child I would go into "Uncle Ted's Bakery" and have the most delicious cookies a child could imagine. There was always a friendly face with a warm smile to encourage me to enjoy these freshly baked creations...and what a variety I had to choose from. Through the years this was the ONLY bakery that existed in my eyes. As time went on, if there was a need for something special to celebrate, there was one item that was tops on the party menu....Danish Layer Cake by Peterson-Webner. Even after moving to Wisconsin, I would still find my way back to Elmhurst to pick up this indescribable dessert. Amazingly, my better half's family was also a member of the Peterson-Webner fan club. My family traditions carried on to my adult life traditions. We moved out to Arizona in 2004 and I thought I would never be able to enjoy this childhood favorite, young adult favorite, and current favorite again....I lost my John recently and while planning the meal for his celebration of life, as always, the first item put on the menu was Peterson-Webner's Danish Layer Cake. I will be returning to Illinois to pick up my John's favorite dessert to share with all our friends at this event. Thank you Peterson-Webner for over 50 years of happy memories in my lifetime. more

Pastries Minus 5/11/2006

So Pastries Plus is the closest bakery to my house, which is a plus, but when I want fresh bread, they never have it. I have gotten some freshly baked wheat bread, which tasted pretty good, but I would like to see it more! Also, their selection isn't that varied. They have donuts, danishes, and cookies...Sometimes they have muffins and other such things, but I would like to see a wider variety of PASTRIES in the place. The pastries they do have are pretty good. The one thing that I do love about the place are the girls who work there. I think there is also one guy. They are always very nice and friendly. more
