Businiess name:  Mohonk Mountain House
Review by:  Pat B.
Review content:
Mohonk is a very special lakeside mountaintop retreat in the Hudson Valley. It is surrounded by some of the most spectacular hiking trails and scenery in the Valley. First built in 1869, it is an architectural marvel--all 251 rooms! It offers 85 miles of hiking trails, lake swimming, boating, tennis, golf, horseback riding, carriage rides, special theme weekends (chocolate lovers, mystery), spa services, and children's programs. Whew! Visiting Mohonk is like taking a few big steps back in time. The place just wants you to take it all in. Sit in one of the Adirondack rocking chairs and enjoy the view. Enjoy the cozy comfort of a blazing fire in one of their many parlors (some of the bedrooms even have fireplaces). Paddle a boat gently around the lake or take a leisurely carriage ride around the property. Take afternoon tea or enjoy a music concert. Don't want to relax? Then hike the trail up the Observation Tower atop the ridge for an extraordinary view of the Shawangunks and Hudson River Valley. Take your camera! Staying here isn't cheap and you must make a reservation. Not the kind of place you just show up. Consider buying a day pass and hiking the many trails--a great way to enjoy the property.
