Review content:
I read the previous review and believe every word of it. The ladies at the counter ARE NOT good with instructions. Fancy decorated birthday cakes are not their forte. Not alot of brides in Ft. Worth order a wedding cake from there, for example.
What Harpers does best is the white cake mentioned by Jessica. It is delectable and cannot be duplicated at home.
The BEST thing to order at Harper's are the PARTY SQUARES. These are oversized petit fours with white icing poured on and a bit of decoration.
They are superb for birthday parties and tailgate parties. TCU folks get "TCU" written in purple icing on their party squares and they are so cute. Great for baby showers - add blue or pink or yellow and you have a gorgeous dessert display.
I think the reason the party squares work out so well is that you really don't have to give much instruction - just tell them what you want on the top. I believe they are $2 each.
