Blue Bonnet Bakery-Harpers

The only problem with this bakery is it's lack of professionalism and organization. We always place our cake orders a week in advance, but every time we show up it's always something different. With my son's cake, they couldn't find it. It took a good 20 mins before they finally did. With my cake it took 2 hours longer than the scheduled pick up time. So yeah, be sure to call ahead on your orders. The finished product is awesome..the cakes are amazing. But just expect some hiccups. more

A friend recommended this bakery as one of the best in Fort Worth. I ordered a Character cake for my son's 3rd birthday. They had the kit but said the decorator could not remember what the background was supposed to be. I found the official picture for the kit, and when I supplied it to them they said they could not do it, saying it would be a copyright violation to do the cake the way the official picture showed. (Huh?) Their decorater and manager are some of the rudest people I have ever encountered in a retail establishment. I wish I had found this site to see the other comments regarding cakes, as I would not have wasted my time there. more

While I've never ordered a wedding cake or anything too elaborate from Blue Bonnet Bakery, I will brag on their sheet cakes. I ordered a white cake with buttercream icing for a friend's birthday, and now I'm hooked. Regular cakes just don't taste the same anymore. The cake was beautifully decorated and had a unique texture. The cake was very light and fluffy, and I'm sure I gained five pounds on the icing alone! more

I read the previous review and believe every word of it. The ladies at the counter ARE NOT good with instructions. Fancy decorated birthday cakes are not their forte. Not alot of brides in Ft. Worth order a wedding cake from there, for example. What Harpers does best is the white cake mentioned by Jessica. It is delectable and cannot be duplicated at home. The BEST thing to order at Harper's are the PARTY SQUARES. These are oversized petit fours with white icing poured on and a bit of decoration. They are superb for birthday parties and tailgate parties. TCU folks get "TCU" written in purple icing on their party squares and they are so cute. Great for baby showers - add blue or pink or yellow and you have a gorgeous dessert display. I think the reason the party squares work out so well is that you really don't have to give much instruction - just tell them what you want on the top. I believe they are $2 each. more

After hearing rave reviews about this bakery, I decided to try it for my son's second birthday. I ordered a cake with a train on it and various other decorations. What I got was nothing short of horrific. The train looked splated on the cake with icing. At some areas, there was between 1/2" to 1 inch of icing which is not what an "experienced" designer would consider favorable. I'm guessing it took the designer around 10 minutes to do this 1/4 sheet design. All the directions that I've given the cashier for the design were obviously not read. The ONLY reason I gave this bakery an OK is because the white cake was good. more
