Review content:
My boyfriend and I were very excited to explore this "little find" as tapas and wine lovers. The plates were relatively inexpensive, but also greatly disappointing. The bacon wrapped dates--delicious. The artichoke hearts were smothered in a bland white cheese and had tiny ham bits that reminded me of an ingredient in a make-your-own-omelet bar. Scallops are a favorite of mine. The half shell scallops were undercooked while being drenched in fried oil. The rest of the meal was fine, but again...not great. It was such a huge let down. Our server was very nice, and apologetic at the absence of certain menu items. From the looks of the menu, the owners have gotten lazy and not changed it in quite a while. The wine descriptions are meant to be cute--but don't offer any help ("a white wine to bring home to your mother"? are we at TGIF? does that mean its taste is similar to the wine coolers my mom enjoyed when I was 5? either add comments that help, or assume we are better off using our own knowledge) The courtyard itself looks quaint and inviting, but when dining inside, it is overlit with very little charm and an awful mix of your run-of-the-mill mariachi ad nauseum. It is time that restaurant owners do as much for the restaurant as the terrific servers they have hired--change the menu up! Use the best ingredients! Change the wine list! Fine dining does not mean cloth napkins and tea lights! It is attention to detail. This could be a great little spot, if someone put in any effort.
Pros: servers do their best, courtyard is nice
Cons: lazy menu with limited taste.
